  1. Thanks for the support!
  2. I wouldn't worry about using an "A" name for the sake of being first in the phone book. First of all, it's cheesy. Second of all, what's a phone book? Do people still use those?
  3. I've carried every time I've gone. If it's posted now, I'll start buying someone else's whiskey.
  4. I feel like some real clarification ought to be done in this thread, so here's the back-story: The OP recently approached me about becoming a Vendor and also about posting a thread regarding job opportunities. I asked that he not come out and say, "Hey I am opening a new gun shop at 1234 Main Street and I'd like to hire you" because that would likely be perceived as covert advertising without being a Vendor. He understood, agreed and apparently posted what I suggested he post. In the meantime he's also been working with me behind the scenes to establish himself as a Vendor to make things proper. TGO does not offer anyone the corner on the market as being THE gun shop in their respective areas. I believe in free enterprise and believe that when gun stores compete for your business, they are not only helping themselves stay sharp but they are fostering an environment in which the customer is treated as the most important part of their business. Besides, it's the American dream to go into business for yourself and I say more power to anyone who tries it and even more power to those who succeed. I would HOPE that business competitors would conduct themselves as gentlemen and earn business by treating their customers with respect. I'm really sorry to see that this thread turned out like it did. I've been traveling for business the past week and have had almost zero internet-time as a result. I feel that I owe the OP an apology for not being present to take up for him since so many claims were lodged against him for using "covert" tactics to advertise after he did exactly what I asked him to do to avoid that sort of thing. No good deed goes unpunished.
  5. So you have to wait several months to obtain aspirin when you have a headache because the government subsidized medicine cabinet is woefully backlogged?
  6. Unfortunately, based on the numerous reports that I have read to date, I cannot share your optimism for it running 100% out of the box. I'd definitely run a few hundred rounds through it before carrying. Too many reports of them suffering FTF and FTE for some reason.
  7. Lemme put on my hip waders... I'll be back to this thread once I've done so.
  8. Best phraseology... EVER.
  9. Being in Memphis, and being that this unit likely has a lot of nice copper inside which could be traded for quick cash... I give it a few days before you're needing A/C again and some vagrant is laying in a ditch, drunk off of Night Train.
  10. I approve of this message.
  11. Must be the son of that guy who tried to run for Governor recently.
  12. People just weren't as fat and unaccustomed to hard work and harsh conditions back then as we are now.
  13. While nowhere near as miserable as having my A/C go out, my primary desktop computer at home -- the one that I do 90% of my web design work on -- gave up the ghost on Sunday and I've been waiting for new parts to build an upgraded system since. Needless to say it hasn't been cheap and wasn't something I wanted to be spending my money on right now, but it was absolutely essential in order for me to keep doing what I do. Thankfully I have daily backups of my essential data, plus I keep my OS/Apps on a separate drive from my data, so I'm really not losing anything other than time. But time is the one thing I have very little of lately. Just wanted to gripe a little.
  14. That's pretty much the best description of TGO that I've heard yet.
  15. An easy enough fix. I'll add it to my list.
  16. Arko, I hate that it didn't work out for you in Tennessee. To ease the transition a little, I'm going to gift you with a 1-month Benefactor membership so that you can perhaps move some of your surplus firearms and make it a little easier to rustle up some cash. Good luck to you and yours.
  17. A smart man keeps his work life and his personal life as far apart as the east is from the west. It took me several tries to figure this one out. Your mileage may vary, but I find it's much more enjoyable and less stressful when I keep my head down, work like hell, do my job and socialize when I'm off the clock and away from people who might be jockeying for a promotion.
  18. FTF and Glock 19 are two phrases you typically never heard in the same sentence before. This a sad surprise.
  19. I think this thread has served its purpose -- if it even had one. Some good points have been made about the onus being on the seller to verify that they are getting a fair shake. It's not up to the buyer to offer top dollar. Were that the case, it could be said that we need to totally change the way we do things in the Classifieds here on TGO. From this point forward, everyone should negotiate the price UP on any firearm that they wish to purchase. If the seller is asking $500, offer them $600 just to be moral and ethical.
  20. Obviously it matters or I wouldn't have asked.
  21. Silly ancillary question, but do any of you guys have a clue what a firearm like this would be worth?
  22. This specimen belongs to my father in law. It was his grandfather's and was carried as a service pistol either in WWI or WWII. He could not recall what he was told, perhaps someone with more knowledge of such things can shed some light. Regardless, this old war horse has clearly seen some years. Enjoy.
  23. Did the OP bother calling or emailing the shop's management or is the goal here to just drive away their business?
