My first MCH arrived today. I have another on order, but this one has the EDC head with dual output. It is their FDE finish with the Thyrm Switchback ring on it. The other on order is clear anodized and has the High Candella single-output head on it. That one will get carried on security duty because I've never done Force On Force training in the dark where I wished that I had anything less than ALL of the lumens. I'll let you guys know how I think the EDC version works, in a few hours.

Well, allow me to introduce my anus-free M&P. I've named him Bob. Bob Gun. He started off with a whole lot of derp, but I think he's going to be OK.

Got one of those too!

I've got a few Manix 2's and have to agree with you on this. I prefer the ambidextrous locking mechanism on the Manix. I bought my wife and oldest daughter each a Manix 2 in CruWear and purple Micarta a year or two ago when DLT Trading had them in as a sprint run.

The dimensions of this Hellcat PRO are very close to that of a Glock 19. The grip is 1/4" thinner which will help some folks who feel that the G19 is too big and chunky, but the slide on each is quoted as being 1" thick. To me, this sounds more like an option for those who don't want a Glock, more than it sounds like an option for someone who wants the lithe form-factor of the P365 or P365XL. It seems that those two would still feel and carry smaller than this Hellcat will. Just my guess.

Glock does a lot of things right. The MOS optics system isn't one of them, in my opinion. The screws that hold the plate to the gun are generally fine, but the plate itself is so thin that the optics screw doesn't have much material to thread into. This frequently causes problems when people use screws provided by their optics manufacturer, rather than the Glock provided screws, which can cause the screw to bottom-out and then arch the mounting plate. This leads to screw / plate failure. If you run an MOS Glock, you want an optics plate from Forward Control Design (1st choice) or CHPWS (2nd choice). These both have proven track records and are better than the Glock OEM plates. @Defender if you're going to stick with an RMR or a sight that uses the RMR footprint, don't sleep on that Zev slide I posted earlier. That is a new product from them, at a cheaper price point than I've seen before, and will likely sell out. Zev produces things in batches and once they're sold out, they stay that way few a while. If you want an optic mounting system that is both strong and flexible to allow you to change it up some as time passes or needs change, look at the Agency AOS slides like I am using on my G19 now. Omaha Outdoors had the best price on the Syndicate S2 slide that I am using but it was still around $500-ish.

This is a thread that is not about the Ukraine

I would have interpreted that as a "No" as well. -
OPSEC. Don't advertise what you have. I know that we all do it to one degree or another here on the forum, but "out in the world" we need to keep a lid on it as much as possible.

Putin basically ended the COVID pandemic. I am so conflicted about him, on this one realization. -
That's my kind of luck, too. Maybe it's true what they say, though? Two is one, and one is none. I stumbled across the CHPWS plate while educating myself on which optics the OSP takes. It looks like a good option.
-
Source: Hellcat® Pro OSP™ 9mm Handgun - Springfield Armory (springfield-armory.com) Basically, Springfield is giving us a Hellcat that takes the 15-round magazine without the need for a grip-extension on the mag, a slightly longer slide, and more beef in the right places. It's got the capacity of a Glock 19 with the width of a Hellcat and is optics-ready right out of the gate. It seems to have the same optics footprint as the regular Hellcat OSP, meaning it natively takes the HEX Wasp, JP Enterprises JPoint and Shield RMSc optics. If I am correct about the optics footprint, it also works with the Holosun 507K adapter plate that CHPWS makes. That adapter plate is very thin and just negates the fact that the Holosun 507K doesn't have holes for the rear recoil lugs on the Hellcat. Easy peasy. Reviews that I've seen for the new Hellcat Pro make it look really promising. I could probably be swayed to spend some cash on one, myself. Here's the best review that I've seen yet.

@Defender - You might also just consider putting an aftermarket slide on your G45. That way if you decided that a red dot wasn't really your cup of tea, you could just sell the aftermarket slide and put your OEM slide back on the frame. This slide would fit your G45 and is the cheapest I've seen, PLUS it is a good manufacturer! You'll pay less for this than having someone mill and re-finish your existing slide. It's worth the effort and expense to switch to one. The learning curve isn't near as bad as most folks assume that it will be.
-
It's actually very grippy. The texture almost feels like a carpenter's rasp. Lots of bite.
-
Yep. Melonite is a nitride finish. It's rugged. Same as the Glock finish. I use it on my slides from them.
-
Let me just say that I swap this slide onto my G45 as well, whenever I want 17-rds and a slightly larger grip. I mostly carry this as it looks here, though, since my G45 is also milled for an optic but includes a comp and larger light. This Gen5 Glock 19 is definitely more of an EDC for me and has been through three different slide/optics configurations since I've owned it. (^^ This is an older pic with a Night Fision rear sight. I didn't like it, so I swapped that out for a 10-8 Performance rear sight) What you're looking at is a setup that has worked very well for me. Specifics are: Gen 5 Glock Frame with mostly stock internals. Zev Pro Trigger with Zev "Minus" Connector. Curved trigger shoe version. Agency Arms Syndicate S2 Slide with Agency Optics System (AOS). Holosun HE509T-X2-GR Green Dot optic on AOS plate. Traditional "irons-behind" plate version. Night Fusion front sight with green outline Tritium dot. 10-8 Performance rear sight with solid-black configuration. Glock OEM Gen5 "Marksman" barrel. Streamlight TLR7A weapon light. LAS Concealment Saya 2.0 holster. Why this setup? The key component in this setup for me is the slide because of the Agency Optics System. For years now I have run slides cut specifically for the Triicon RMR footprint. But as other players, like Holosun, have entered the game and gotten to be really good at it, I have wanted an optics mounting system that was manufacturer-agnostic. The AOS setup fits that bill for me and is really strong and very proven under some abusive conditions thanks to folks like Aaron Cowan at Sage Dynamics. How does it perform? Really well. I've become a serious fan of the Holosun 509T because of its rugged design, reputation for reliability (again, Sage Dynamics) and fully enclosed emitter design. This is my first green dot version, though, and I have not yet decided if it is all that more advantageous than a red dot. I have two other 509Ts, both red dots, on other guns and I run them just fine. The green dot is supposedly faster to acquire visually, but I honestly cannot tell much of a difference. It may just be me, though. The gun itself performs as you'd expect. It is a Glock. The Marksman barrel is quite nice. The gun is capable of more accuracy than I am. Occasionally the planets align, I do my part somewhat perfectly, and it feels like we're both in the groove. Those are good times. ZOMG, your serial number is visible! Meh. I'm not that paranoid. The government knows I have some guns and I run a big-ass gun forum. I'm already on their list.

Also, I've used Custom Slide Work | DP Custom Works LLC many times now and have been SUPER thrilled with the result and turn-around. I used Primary Machine, another shop, once and ultimately wasn't pleased with the result.
