  1. Welcome! I'm envious of anyone who can just walk outside and shoot to their heart's content. Hope you enjoy your visits here.
  2. Thanks guys. You never know when something like this might happen again.
  3. Bear in mind that I own quite a few purpose-built sight installation tools courtesy of MGW. That said, I understand that the Kahr sights are pressed in harder and tighter than Springfield XD sights; and those are some real sons of bishes to get out. I had no problems getting it back on target quickly. The PM9 isn't exactly the gun I'd want to have to do rapid sharp shooting with, and it's really meant for those up close and personal social encounters. In cases like that, you'd have to be waving your arms around like a palsied baboon in order to not be able to keep your shots center of mass anyway.
  4. That is the one thing my PM9 lacks that I really wish it had. However it's just a matter of $140 (ouch) and sending the slide off to Kahr to have them install the XS Big Dot sights. I'm very tempted and have been thusly tempted since I bought the gun. However I'd hate to be without it for a week or two now at this point in the game.
  5. That's absolutely unheard of. Congrats!
  6. It depends on the pants you're wearing and the holster you're using. I wear 5.11 Tactical khakis a lot, even for work, just because they are roomy and comfortable and hold up to a lot of abuse. The large slash pockets on the hip make it really easy to carry the PM9 in a wallet-style leather pocket holster. When I do this, it absolutely disappears and is not uncomfortable in the least when I am sitting. I have no problems concealing it in a front pocket in either my 5.11 khakis, Carhartt dungarees or jeans. If your pants have deep enough pockets, you'll have no problems. The only time I have issues is with certain khakis -- like Dockers -- that have small wimpy little metrosexual pockets.
  7. I didn't even bother looking to see if they had the PM40. For me I wanted something that I can shoot a lot of, affordably and comfortably. I've got two .40SW handguns nowadays and just don't really shoot them a whole lot despite the fact that I do have a fondness for that cartridge.
  8. I have held off on posting about this simply because I wanted time to make sure it was running right before I posted and had someone come along behind me and tell me how bad it was going to perform. Not that this would ever happen on TGO mind you. A few weekends ago I stopped by The Outpost Armory and got a good deal on a new, current generation Kahr PM9. Thanksgiving weekend I took it out to CHMR (Owl Hollow) and ran the snot out of it using a variety of different 9mm cartridges and never had so much as a single problem. I did however spend a few evenings doing nothing but cycling the slide while watching TV, which loosened the slide perceptibly the more I did it. This may have helped, and was prescribed on a few other gun forums. To say that I am pleased with the PM9 would be an understatement. It is small, light weight, thin and disappears into the pocket in an A-Holster or a wallet holster. I honestly prefer the way it "prints" in pocket as opposed to a J-Frame's cylinder, as it looks more like a PDA or a phone or any number of other common electronics. Tight 1" - 2" groups both two handed and one handed at 15 feet were no problem whatsoever. It's far more accurate than a "get off me" gun needs to be. My wife likes it enough that she wants one now too. Now for the obligatory gun porn...
  9. The part that I find most worrisome is the fact that the people who are having problems are the people who run their guns the hardest. Someone who only shoots a hundred rounds or so every two months appears to be less likely to have the problems that the guys who run them hard are having. That's not what I want to see from a Glock. But again it appears that Glock is stepping up to fix the issues. The Glock 23s had some problems initially too. This isn't exactly unheard of with Glock, it's just sad that it happened to the venerable 19. Those are his holsters, actually. Seraph owns Secret City Weaponeers and makes holsters. He's in the process of setting up as a Vendor here on TGO.
  10. I just read over on M4C that Glock is supposedly releasing a revised recoil spring assembly that "fixes" the problems people are having. I also saw where several folks make an adapter shim that lets you run a Gen 3 guide-rod / spring in your Gen 4 Glock 19. Somehow with Gen 4, Glock truly did find a way to f'k up what was previously a supremely reliable weapon.
  11. Sadly I think the Gen 4 Glock 19 is turning out to be Gaston's modern-day Corvair: Unsafe at any speed. Or perhaps more accurately unreliable at any speed... but that in turn equates to unsafe in my book. I keep reading horror story after horror story of Gen 4's not feeding properly, not ejecting properly, etc. Most blame it on the retarded recoil spring assembly that Glock chose to use this time around, which I suppose is an easy fix. But my Gen 3 ran like a top right out of the box. The only modifications I've made to it were for my own purposes, not to make it any more reliable. YMMV.
  12. Someone beat you to the punch. There's already a thread about it.
  13. I've spent all of my fun money, so I'm safe this weekend. The rest of you guys are screwed.
  14. It's going to be a long weekend full of lots of quiet time for me this weekend while I cram for an work-related certification exam that I have to take next Friday. As a result, I'm spending a lot of time reading and thinking... and not necessarily about my studies. As I was sipping on my coffee, reading one of my texts and keeping an eye on TGO periodically, my Glock 19 caught my eye. It's sitting on the table in arm's reach, as always, snugly snapped into its RCS kydex holster. I couldn't help but pick it up, pop it out of the holster, wipe off the layer of lint and crud that have gathered on it from the past week of carry, and admire the ugly simplicity of it. That's when it struck me again, as it often does, that my Glock 19 is seriously my favorite handgun. It's my "go to" piece time after time after time. Considering that I have handguns that are more expensive, more ergonomic, more refined... why do I keep going back to this squat, square, ugly, pig-nosed piece of Austrian-American plastic? I think it's because I trust it implicitly. I know it inside and out. I've run it hard, packed full of dirt and crud and thick nasty soot from cheap Russian ammo. I've not necessarily abused it, but I've not given it any quarter either. There have been day-long training sessions where it never saw a drop of oil added to it, has had mud caked into it, has been thrown, dropped, kicked, dragged and never complained. It's always fired when I pulled the trigger. It's the AK-47 of the handgun world. It's the cockroach of 9mm's. It's not pretty, it's not the most accurate for shooting 1/2 inch groups, it doesn't have interchangeable back straps or lasers or stippling, but it never has let me down. It's compact but not too small. It balances perfectly in my hand. It points naturally for me and makes me feel like a 9mm Jedi when I see the sights coming into perfect alignment every time I bring it to bear on my target. My fingers know where the trigger resets and my split times are narrow as a result. My hands know where all of the controls are and I have no problems manipulating it with both or impeded with just one. Mag changes are quick and easy and often happen without me even thinking about looking at the gun while I'm performing them. I know this gun. I trust this gun. I don't love it; it's too ugly and cheap for that. But I do respect it. And if the day comes that it falls completely apart and can't be rebuilt... I'll buy another and treat it just as badly. So, what's your favorite and why?
  15. It's an odd sign of the times when Taurus is producing nicer weapons than Ruger. That's not a ding on Taurus... it's a ding on Ruger.
  16. What... Congress has said this is OK.
  17. Mosin Nagant.
  18. Guys, the problem isn't our server. It's clearly sending out emails. Sorry.
  19. I think what's causing it is that they have loaded up some new advertisements today. Until the GIF files for those get cached in our browsers, it may be a bit slow on that first load or two. I noticed it very briefly earlier this evening but have had no problems since. YMMV.
  20. I swear I've got a day job for some of you guys. It involves noticing every annoying little thing that software does.
  21. Check your filters. We're using an email host now that cost me several $$ a year so I know it's working. I get them all the time, especially with gmail. For that matter, they're going through to Comcast users now and comcast gave us fits before. Ultimately though, if it's not working for a certain provider I'm just not going to try to fix it anymore. It's eaten up way too much of my time and money and it's like trying to hit a constantly moving, changing target.
  22. You're raising them up like Spartans. Excellent.
  23. It's time for me to renew my annual membership again and frankly I'm tired of having to remind myself of this each year. This time around I'd like to just get my Life Membership but I am also aware that there are $300 Life Member deals going on right now. Can someone hook me up? Thanks.
  24. Here... let me link some pictures.... Just kidding.
  25. How did you get a picture of my Norelco?
