Need some input on an everyday carry pistol.
TGO David replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The Kahr PM9 is more than capable of being used for pocket carry. I wouldn't bother trying to use it IWB, honestly. It's too small for that. -
Hmmm. I want to like it and am appreciating it for the purpose of the project as you related it... however, the Entertainment Services lettering appears to be kind of crooked and that is just kicking my OCD right in the jewels. Is that just a trick of the camera angle?

Has anyone actually been caught in a "DMZ"?
TGO David replied to aquaman67's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm sure that in all actuality a lot of otherwise law abiding citizens have accidentally carried into places they shouldn't have all across the country wherever carry permits are issued. MANY establishments don't post conspicuously, don't post properly or just don't post at all despite the owner's intent that carry not be allowed there. Oddly enough, the world has never come to an end when it's happened either. Perhaps carry permit holders are generally more responsible than what they are given credit for, and their handguns didn't accidentally start shooting up these places. That said, it's my personal belief that a carry permit holder's worst enemy is often themselves when it comes to disclosing that they are carrying, particularly even where they are allowed to do so. I'm not sure if we were just conditioned so much as "sheeple" that guns are bad and carrying one is wrong that we just give ourselves away with guilty behavior, but it's a damn good theory. Of course some folks just can't resist fiddling with their carry piece during those first few months of legal carry. They tug at it, pat it to make sure it's there, constantly adjust their cover garments, adjust the holster, talk about it to anyone who will listen, show their carry permit as a form of photo ID at the cash register, etc. It's all crap I did when I was new at this, and I know I've seen countless others do it too. The point is, we get made more often than not because we lack discretion -- and that means anywhere. Where we're permitted to carry and also 30 minutes deep into a shopping mall when the realization suddenly hits us that the sign at the food court says weapons are prohibited and has a gun buster symbol on it. Of course, gang bangers and thugs would never disobey a sign, so clearly we should run out to our cars and dispose of our carry piece... but that's a rant for another day. So, anyway.... the moral of the story? Exercise discretion and watch for those signs. -
Hmm... Some of you guys might be buying some swap meet Louis or something. My 5.11 pants have held up great, haven't faded much at all and haven't shrunk. Odd.

Trust- Is it worth the $?
TGO David replied to Climber's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Yes it's worth it and for more reasons than what you listed. My time right now is very short so just do a search here and you'll find a ton of posts about it. -

Your boss doesn't know where I live, I hope. -
I have yet to try those or the Woolrich. I need to order a pair of each and see how I like them. Lately I've picked up a few pairs of Carhartts as mentioned above and like them as well. The bonus on the Carhartts is that you can find them at most any Tractor Supply store.

Yes to all questions. I typically wear either 5.11 Tactical BDU pants or 5.11 Covert Carry pants at work and most folks just write them off as cargo pants / khakis. I never bother with ironing mine. Washer to dryer to hanger. They hold up REALLY well and have lots of useful pockets for cell phones, wallet, pocket knife, etc. I got tired of Dockers or LL Bean khakis tearing up easily, so I switched to wearing my 5.11 pants and haven't looked back since. Carhartt makes some of their dungaree pants in different colors that blend in well at the office also.

Thoughts on best complete upper...
TGO David replied to Sandman's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Everyone wants to believe that the equipment they own is the best, or at least that it isn't crap. That's why you have so many people advocating whatever they own, regardless of whether or not the collective experiences of others suggest that a better product could be had. In the interest of full disclosure, I do not own a BCM upper receiver group. I do own a BCM bolt carrier group, but my upper receiver is made by LMT. I think that LMT is a fine manufacturer, however I think that BCM produces comparable or better quality gear at a lower price and with more options to suit individual application and/or tastes. Therefore my recommendation is not based on what I own, but what I have come to determine is a better value for the dollar. As for researching this, my other recommendation is to visit a forum devoted to the AR platform but to choose a forum that isn't mired down with the fanboi bulls#t that has ruined ARFCOM. My suggestion is M4Carbine.net -- and you'll be surprised how many other TGO members are members there and will agree with me on that. Sign up, search, search some more, search again and then ask questions if your specific questions haven't already been answered. You'll find a ton of quality, reliable information based off of real world experience there. Not a lot of posturing and brand-loyal territorial pissing like you see on ARFCOM. -

I've found lots of valuable things by mistake. Hopefully you'll feel the same way about this forum and keep coming back now that you know where we are.

Apologies to anyone who saw some language being used and was offended by it. This wasn't the fault of anyone in the chat room at the time. The word filter that I had set up was totally misfiring and was inserting forbidden words when users were typing numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). I was alerted to this by one of the members and fixed it as quickly as I could.

Willis68, I have a copy of the Source Book on CD that you can have. I doubt seriously I'll ever use it.

It's new and still in the works. It's a new version of the app that we had once before. The author has made some improvements to the security of it, so I felt a little more comfortable about running it again.
