  1. I did a little research. Mr. Glock30Owner is pretty much who I thought it was. He's banned. Again.
  2. I built mine as a Mod 0. I've tinkered with the idea of converting it to a Mod 1 but really don't have a reason to at this time, other than just to sink more money into it. I like the Mod 1 look though.
  3. I would assume that the range is open any day, as I've never seen anything to the contrary. If someone has a way of contacting Charlie, perhaps they could check with him and find out.
  4. Anyone interested in getting together for a "polar bear" shoot the day after Christmas over at the CHMR (Owl Hollow) outdoor gun range?
  5. Maybe you missed the point of the thread. The OP was asking if anyone knew what these were. Since you're an expert, that was your cue to explain.
  6. Colostomy Bag. "Keep your hands off of my ****"
  7. I'd go for the Savage.
  8. Okey dokey... time for the lock.
  9. No need to wonder, I'm a self-confident prick in person too. Now that just leaves one of us with questions.
  10. Interesting. Looks about as useful as a piece of 2x4 hanging off the barrel of your gun, but interesting.
  11. WTF suppressor
  12. This thread, while amusing, is starting to lose any redeeming value it had once. Guy, I really hope to meet you at one of the middle-TN shoots soon. I'm a horrible judge of character on the Internet so maybe I'm wrong so far.
  13. Better pictures... this will start going out in the mail this week to those who ordered. Once we have filled all existing orders, I'll update this thread with a count of how many extras I have left.
  14. I think you totally missed the point I was trying to make. Can I just be a sarcastic ass for a moment and say ... Yeah, I plan on shooting someone 50 yds away from me in a self-defense situation. The rest of it... whatever. I'm hungry and suddenly reminded of why it's usually more productive for me to do something other than argue on the Internet.
  15. Sadly Smyrna parks are off-limits for legal carry. It's something I hope changes but since the city council and not the PD makes those rulings, it's going to take some common sense among our appointed city representatives to make it happen. I mention the PD because we are very fortunate to have a pro-gun Chief and largely pro-gun officers. There are some who don't feel that way, but most that I've met think you and I should be armed. Actually that's one of the places in town that I feel that I actually do need my weapon on my person. That Wal-Mart is like a Denny's after midnight; chock full of freaks and thuglets. I've twice had to put my hand on my gun there, once in the parking lot and once inside the store at a register during Christmas when a young black male with gold teeth and ghetto attire asked me if I was paying cash for my purchases that night, all the while sizing me up. He went on about his business elsewhere when I allowed him to see my hand resting on my sidearm. You just listed a lot of reasons why I'd want to be armed in your situation. Those kids you described are the ones that scare me the most, honestly. No morals, no ethics and no prohibitions toward robbing a guy in a powered wheel chair and perhaps killing him, even if for a few bucks and an iPod. Those cretin will kill each other over a pair of tennis shoes sometimes. Be careful!!! We need to get you out to the range with the middle-TN members sometime and let you fix that problem. I'd never want a firearm in my house that I hadn't shot, verified the function of, and had confidence in my operation of. I'm more worried about being dead than being sued. I figure if I'm alive to be sued by the surviving members of some would-be-robber's family, then I did something right. It's going to be a seriously hard uphill battle for that family to sue you for defending yourself against their deceased criminal son. Especially given that you have clearly demonstrable physical impairments that put you at a staunch disadvantage in "hand to hand" situations. At any rate, welcome to TGO. Be careful out there as you enjoy our fair city. It's a great place but my friendship with a few of our police officers has opened my eyes to the fact that some pretty bad stuff goes down around town that we never hear about because the media just doesn't report much about it. I guess that's because we don't exactly have a local newspaper.
  16. Makes sense to me and I'm not even inside you.
  17. I'm not sure what you're implying. Should I suddenly change my opinion based on the fact that someone is a sponsor? What would that say about my credibility? Our sponsors are welcome to disagree with me, just as I am with them. Again, I've never shot with you. You may have your stuff together and be completely right. Maybe I'm wrong. That's the beauty of the Internets... we get to debate this stuff and honestly what I think about your tactics or what you think about mine doesn't really matter much since neither of us are expected to have the other's back (nor likely would we be in a position to be required to do so) if the sh#t hits the fan. As long as your tactics get you home at night, good for you. Still doesn't mean I have to agree with them.
  18. I'm operating at a disadvantage here because I've never shot with or trained with you, so I have no clue if you've really bought into all of what you're selling or if you're just trying to see how much of it I'll respond to. I'm a keep it simple sort of guy. If some jackass is standing 50 yds away from me, holding a knife, telling me he's going to kill me, he's not far enough away to keep from being outside my range of accuracy with my handgun. I'm pretty damn accurate at 50yds. I know because I've seen me do it. If he starts approaching, my accuracy just keeps going up with each step. Eventually we start putting lead to flight, but I guarantee that the gun was out of it's holster long before he got within his effective range of me. Most of us badasses learn to determine where we might have to rely upon physical means of deterrence (or defense) and opt not to go to those places. You don't get to be an old badass without figuring this stuff out when you're a young badass. It sounds like maybe it's not so much "situational awareness" as it is discretion in this case. PS: I've heard so much bullsh#t espoused in HCP 101 classes that I could package it and sell it as fertilizer. It's almost as prolific from HCP instructors as it is on the Internet.
  19. I have a bad habit of not going places where I figure the odds are improved that I might actually have to use my handgun because of proximity to bad people. If you're seeing gang signs on things and feel like you're being scoped out by the natives... I'd maybe find a new place to go. Smyrna does have a large Hispanic population over in the Nary housing projects and sadly where are large concentrations of Hispanics are also Hispanic gangs. Our PD does a very good job of keeping the wolves in check, but they (the police) can't be with you everywhere so it's up to you to practice avoidance and to be capable of defending yourself if put in that position.
  20. Oh momma... I'm going to need more details.
  21. It is. Correct. I disagree. TGO exists to allow folks a place to exchange ideas and learn from one another. A person should be free to ask a question so long as others are free to give them truthful, real-world answers without others jumping on them for being cold or crass. As Jamie pointed out, the truth hurts sometimes. I'm trying to see what value you added to this thread. So far, I'm not able to spot it. As for Bronker... he is one of our moderators. I've noticed his absence as well but I am not convinced it has anything to do with what you're suggesting. He seems a little too confident of a person to give up on a community of like-minded individuals just because some of them want to act like children. That's why he's a moderator. Unless you know something I don't about his absence as of late? If you do, then Bronker and I need to have a discussion about his post. If you don't, then maybe he needs to have a discussion with you about your assumptions. Two observations: Self-defense encounters are very dynamic and tend not to follow rigid guidelines or provide a person adequate time to evaluate all of the criteria you just put forth. If you have to work through a complex ladder of logic like that, frankly I'm not sure you wouldn't get shot while you stood around trying to decide whether or not it was time to draw your gun. Please tell me where you obtained all of these parameters? Second, if you had to use your pepper spray that frequently in New Orleans, your situational awareness needs work.
