  1. While I am generally a fan of Magpul stuff, some of their more recent products are being classified -- by Magpul themselves -- as "theory based" products. In other words, they had a theory that a certain product would be an answer to a problem, but there is no anecdotal proof to substantiate it. Further with some of these products, I'm not sure there was ever really a problem to begin with. But that's just me and I'm not near as highspeed or lowdrag as the Magpul guys. When I'm hanging **** off of my rifle, I try to keep it simple and idiot proof. Two-point straps just work for me and I don't really find myself needing the complexities of single-point, three point or bungie cords. YMMV.
  2. As found elsewhere on the Internet, Ruger is apparently introducing a single stack 9mm sized like the PPS, PF9, and PM9. At least the sights on this model appear to be usable, unlike the utterly worthless sights on the LCP.
  3. I run a CTR stock on my short barrel AR and use the attachment point shown in the photo you linked. No problems, although the CTR's design is such that the QD swivel will not rotate 360 degrees. The sling loop bangs into the butt of the stock and prevents it from rotating completely. I'd guess i can rotate it about 90 degrees before it bangs. Not an issue, really, but it might surprise or frustrate you as well.
  4. I laughed... a lot. It's even funnier if it wasn't intentional.
  5. I'm generally not a fan of padded slings on AR rifles. The padded area has an inexplicable ability to be in the way and annoy me, and these rifles aren't that heavy to begin with. Now were we talking about a .308 of some sort or maybe a longer, heavier AR (ie. designated marksman style) rifle, I might be more inclined to use a padded sling. That's just my personal preference though.
  6. LOL... I see what you did there.
  7. Do yourself a favor and read this thread: The OFFICIAL "Which AR SLING do you use and why?" Thread! - M4Carbine.net Forums Before you buy, or before you buy your next sling.
  8. This. I've been around the world on slings and settled on the Vickers sling several years ago and have never once reconsidered it since. Top quality gear, solid design concept and none of that loose sloppy single-point nonsense that lets your carbine get in your way when you're not using it.
  9. Just by way of an update... And perhaps to stir the pot a little with the John Moses Browning faithful, I received my Occidental Leather Phoenix Stronghold inside the waistband holster for the M&P 45 last week and now that my back is a little better, I'm finally able to carry using it. The comfort and concealabilty of this holster is right on par with that of the Milt Sparks Versa-Max 2 and the price point is about 50% of the VM2 and the wait time can be measured in days instead of months. After shooting the M&P 45 some more at the range on Saturday and carrying it all weekend in the new leather, I honestly can say that this handgun has put the final nail in the coffin of me carrying any of my 1911's from this point forward. I will retain my Wilson Combat Professional for sentimental reasons, but it will continue to be a safe-queen and conversation piece. My Kimber Warrior will probably become a project / range toy, or perhaps might be sold entirely to fund other endeavors.
  10. It's a shame that this didn't come together. Anyone who lives nearby and gets a chance to do one of these should take the opportunity. It may not sound like "fun" but it's not going to be fun if/when you ever really need to survive on your own in the elements either. It's better to know how to ahead of time.
  11. No, your permit is no longer valid as you are not a resident of Tennessee now. However you might qualify for an expedited AL permit by "trading in" your TN permit similar to how you can trade in an out of state permit in TN and bypass the class requirement.
  12. Can I buy it from you the following week?
  13. My experience with Outpost is that both Butch (the manager) and Chris B. himself (the owner) want to know if you haven't had satisfactory service because of someone behind the counter. As long as your complaint is legitimate they will make a change to improve the situation, either by having a heart to heart with the individual or by releasing them to go find gainful employment somewhere else. I'm not just fluffing their skirt because they are a vendor here. Chris is a good guy and his heart is in the right place. This shop is one of his babies and he takes it very, very seriously. I personally know of two individuals who no longer work there because they were not good for the business.
  14. I'd have either explained my request a little more clearly (sometimes counter monkeys don't always process what you said) or I would have asked for the manager on duty. I try really hard not to let counter staff deter me from making a purchase. Sometimes they are just minimum wage workers who could just as easily be flipping burgers at the local McDonald's. If management refused or further explanation yielded the same dumb blank stare, then I'd have left. My own experience at Outpost has been overall very positive, but I've had one or two instances where I had to deal with some newbie yutz at the counter that left me shaking my head. Usually alerting the manager to that later ends up in the newbie yutz being replaced with someone else. They don't tolerate that sort of nonsense from their people.

    Oh Hai!

    SQUIRREL!!!
  16. I wouldn't use a Star for anything more than a drop gun. YMMV.
  17. Yes. It's over near the Publix shopping center.
  18. OK so here's the deal: I and several others have decided to get one last shoot in before the year ends, so we are meeting up tomorrow, Friday, December 31st for a trip to the CHMR range in Spring Hill. If you want to eat lunch with us before shooting, be at the Burger King in Spring Hill at 11:30am. After that, be at the old Owl Hollow Gun Club range (CHMR now) at 12:30'ish. We'll wait until 12:00 noon at the restaurant but if no one else shows up, we're out of there and heading for the range early. I will wear a TGO hat to make it easy to spot me. I figure we'll shoot until about 2:00p ...or so and then I personally will be cutting out and heading home to get ready for the evening's activities. If you need directions to the range: CHMR RSVP if you think you'll be there.
  19. Not old. Not my pic. Someone snapped that in a grocery store magazine section.
  20. Not a photoshop. Sadly real. Immensely retarded.
  21. A splash of water or a little ice melting opens up certain spirits a bit and lets you taste aspects of them that you otherwise would miss. The value of adding a splash depends greatly on the bourbon / whisky and of course personal preference. There are some that I like a little water in, there are others I wouldn't dream of it. On another note... Picked up another bottle of Maker's 46 tonight to have on hand after our current fifth is done. We're in no hurry on either; it's just nice to have more.
  22. But no one conducts a test to make sure you are responsible enough to exercise your other Constitutional freedoms. Careless words issued under the auspices of "freedom of speech" have destroyed many a person's life too. And frequently at a much slower, much more painful, completely cruel pace. Unlike the relatively swift destruction rendered by a well placed bullet.
  23. I chose the Lorcin.
  24. Yes, they trolled TGO under a fake account and acted all secret squirrel about it. /thread
