I am working on getting our page load times back down to where they belong. Factors involved at the moment: vBulletin 4.1.4 probably buggy; they are talking about version 4.1.5 soon to "correct" things Our forum database is close to one gigabyte in size. TGO's data is huge. Ask anyone what 1GB of text looks like. I could hardly believe we have that much stored. We may be sharing resources with others on our host and may need to upgrade servers again. I'll keep an eye on this as it's the trickiest. The bottom line is that things are not running as smoothly as I'd like, post upgrade. This is in addition to the quirks that the new editor has brought in respect to posting images and such. Further, I remain unimpressed with vBulletin software and am still considering all options, up to and including moving to another software package. Your patience is appreciated.

Can anyone here recommend a good, reputable roofing company in the greater Nashville area that does quality work and cleans up after themselves when they are done? I have pulled a list of possible candidates from the BBB (Better Business Bureau) web site but it's really taking a shot in the dark since I don't know anyone who has dealt with any of them firsthand. Some roofing companies work like gypsies, moving from area to area following storms. I don't want to deal with someone like that. Thanks in advance!

Fair enough. My time here the past week has been pretty limited but I do have access now at work on my lunch break, so I am able to get online and resolve some things like this when I'm not already committed to other activities. I'll try my best to get back on here today and see what's going on. Meanwhile I've opened a support incident with vBulletin to see if they can offer any insight.

Guys, having small problems like this after an upgrade is not unusual. We always work through them and the vendor always resolves them. Be patient. As for the image posting problem, what I am reading over on vBulletin's support forum is that it is limited primarily to photos hosted with Photobucket.com and that it is hit or miss. The authors suggest that people are using the wrong code when they post pictures, and are including HTML sequences that the editor is designed to block to protect against malicious code being embedded in forum posts. I'll try to do some more digging today when I have a break at around lunchtime and see what I can figure out. Just bear with me and, again, be patient. Progress comes with growing pains sometimes. Thanks.

Welcome to Tennessee and to TGO.

Coolest product, ever.

I'll look into it but it will be later tonight before I will have full access to the forum. Sorry.

TGO actually has a very friendly member base. Welcome.

For what it's worth... One part of the software upgrade that I intend to do this evening introduces an entirely new WYSIWYG editor into the mix. I am on the fence about this in general, but apparently those who have already upgraded say that once their forums' members have gotten over the initial shock, they have been well pleased with the new editor. The editor itself is a very common Open Source editor that appears in a lot of different packages, so it's got a lot of support behind it.

No, that's not what you did... I expect the moderators here to be as professional and courteous and unbiased as possible, which sometimes none of us do a very good job at, but I am not going to pretend that some people don't pull a bunch of passive aggressive crap like you did in the above quote to try and dance along the thin gray line between acceptable and unacceptable. Comments like that are clearly designed to elicit a response, whether that response manifests immediately or if it just festers below the surface and causes a person to snap down the road. I'm asking you and everyone else responsible for comments like that to cut it out. What we need here is a positive change for the better, and it can't happen when the only praise you give is backhanded praise. If that's what you're going to post... don't post. Sorry if this rubs you wrong or ruins the spirit of this thread, but I try to be fair, and in doing so I am going to acknowledge problems on BOTH sides of the fence.

I had one of those once. It slapped around my carrots and mugged my cauliflower.

Go with one of the ceramic films if you can. It's a little more expensive but totally worth it in terms of UV/heat blocked.

Let's try to focus on the positives and not dwell so much on the negatives. Comments like this hurt more than they help. Being a moderator is a very thankless job and one that tends to burn people out, especially when they are met with a lot of animosity from certain people over and over again. I don't know that you would fare any better than Daniel has in that position. It's very easy to take comments like yours very personal sometimes.

In the metro area I would only consider "Performance Films" over on 8th Avenue. They did two of my vehicles and did a fantastic job. Highly recommended.

Wow... very cool thing to do. And just so everyone knows, Daniel did this 100% on his own. I was floored to see this in the list of new threads. I've been so busy with transitioning to a new job lately that I have spent very, very little time here. Awesome stuff.

Largest Nashville area gun store other than Franklin Gun Shop?
TGO David replied to a topic in General Chat
That's a shame. Joe really kept the place stocked well when he was in charge. -
Hunting101 is to be thanked for the name change. Excellent idea.

I have friends who work for CCA but not as corrections. They seem to like the company.

Guns & Leather, The Outpost, Franklin Gun Shop... all seem to consistently have massive inventory. Hero Gear historically has had a massive inventory as well, although I have not been down there in at least a year and cannot accurately comment on how they are stocked now. Specialty Arms II has an good selection but honestly no more or less than what I've seen at other local medium-sized shops. Sometimes size is not a good indicator of quality, though. While the aforementioned are all usually outstanding, I have likewise seen many desirable things and had good customer/staff interaction at some of the smaller/new shops. D&T Arms and The Armory, etc. all fall into that category easily and I'm sure their inventory has grown since I was last at either of them. I guess the bottom line is that we are fortunate to have some really good shops around the middle TN area, many of whom are vendors here, some of whom have been and yet others who haven't. There really are few chances to "go wrong" within an hour of Nashville-proper. -
Agreed. I hate to hear things like this. Sorry for the OP's loss.

My previous employer (I left on my own) employs a good number of tow motor drivers. They are based in Smyrna but have warehousing near Mt. Juliet / Lebanon. I'll try to find out who they use as their hiring agency.
