  1. Ford, in their infinite wisdom, opted not to include that feature. My Nissan Titan had them.
  2. You're not going to get emails until I move the site to the new server. I turned that feature off for the time being to trim some of the fat and make the forums load faster for folks.
  3. Accuracy comes in two flavors, as far as I'm concerned: 1. Combat accuracy 2. Precision If you are concerned about being able to defend yourself in a self-defense situation, #1 is what you need to be focusing on. Combat accuracy is the ability to put rounds on target as quickly as possible into an area that will do the most damage. It does not allow you to miss, but it does allow you to say that a four inch group, center of mass, with all rounds impacting target is sufficient for the task at hand. Ideally you will get to the point where you are putting most (all) of your rounds into a 2-inch or smaller group with reasonably quickness. If you can do that under little or no stress, then you should be fine should you ever be called upon to do the same under immense stress. Groups tend to get wider under the influence of adrenaline and in less than ideal conditions. If you are concerned about the ability to shoot the ass off of a gnat at 500 yards, then #2 is your poison and may you enjoy yourself tremendously. I find that sort of shooting intriguing and agree that it obviously has its place in a person's tool bag, but it's not where I focus my time and energy.
  4. The finish you are describing sounds like the combination used on the Springfield Marine Corps (MC) Operator. It's not that durable from what I've seen of them. It's not bad, just not great.
  5. I think you're making quite a leap with that statement. I am all for removing the warning labels from products and letting natural selection do its job, but there are times when an object has a bad enough design flaw that it simply shouldn't be used. The SERPA holster is, in my opinion, one of those products. This thread has served as a gentle reminder to me that sometimes you just cannot debate the flaws and merits of purchased products because sooner or later someone will get upset that you have insinuated they did not make a wise purchasing decision. I'm not saying this is you, but I'm seeing signs of it in this thread. People tend to invest too much of their pride in the things that they buy, and that clouds their ability to see things rationally. It may very well be that 90% of SERPA holster users never have a problem. It's that other 10% that slap the trigger with their finger and sent a round into their leg, or who don't maintain their gear very well and allow grit and grime to clog the release mechanism, that concern me. The rest of you are free to go.
  6. Just so you know... the Raven Concealment holster will very likely pull the weapon closer to your body and make it easier to conceal than the Comp-Tac model will. Just has been my experience, at least.
  7. I'm glad I wasn't the only one pulling their hair out last weekend.
  8. I've been considering a stake pocket mount for my truck, but using one would require me to cut a hole in the plastic trim cap that runs the full length of my bed rail. I need to price the replacement for that before I decide to cut or not.
  9. Sadly there aren't many good books for it out there, and the classes tend to just get you up on the basics. 90% of what a good Citrix admin knows how to do, he/she learned over the course of actually doing it somewhere else. It's kind of rare to find technical disciplines where that is the case anymore, but Citrix is definitely one of them. I do some Citrix here at work from time to time and can easily see why this is the case. Our Citrix guys earn their keep.
  10. TGO should be way down on your list of importance when you're facing things like medical bills. I had to clear away a mountain of medical bills a few years ago and it wasn't fun.
  11. I've started using holsters from Occidental Leather Company as they are pretty damn close to the same design and quality of the VM2 with none of the wait time. The Phoenix Stronghold IWB is my favorite. http://www.bestbelt.com/product/gunleather/gun_holsters.html I now own one of these for pretty much every one of my carry guns.
  12. Procedural issues like that are hard to enforce, though. Before you know it, you've got a dozen moderators for classified ads and each of them has a dozen or more threads they're trying to edit the title of with little help from the people who started them.
  13. Raven Concealment Systems Outside Waistband Holsters - products new home - Belt Holster Ask and ye shall receive.
  14. I'm always open to new ideas no matter what else is cooking on the stove.
  15. I can't believe that in this day and age with so many better alternatives for not much more money, anyone seriously defends the Fobus line of holsters as being a worthwhile option. But I also can't believe that Uncle Mike's is still in the holster business either, albeit for different reasons.
  16. I am open to this, however... there is a Classifieds script that can be added to the IPB forum software and I am leaning heavily toward implementing that once we convert. It totally changes the way that classifieds are posted on the forum and allows us to incorporate fields such as location.
  17. Haven't changed servers yet but the new one is online and I'm in the process of testing it.
  18. Exactly. I'd like it if those two clowns would get together and agree on a figure so that I could sell my house soon without totally losing my ass in equity.
  19. Not surprisingly there aren't many Citrix admins looking for work out there. We have a fleet of them at my company and they rarely move to other places of business unless it's to advance themselves somehow. Good luck with your search.
  20. Thanks again guys. It's reward enough knowing people enjoy the site and find it both useful and entertaining. Gun owners are good folks, by and large, and I'm happy to be able to offer this to the community.
  21. I'll be taking the site offline briefly this evening sometime to try and repair that. Going to wait til later though, as the site seems to be doing well right now and it's pretty busy.
  22. Thanks guys. You're all very welcome and I consider it more of a labor of love than a burden. Granted, it seems kind of burdensome when the site is running slowly -- but that's because I am very picky and HATE slow web sites. As for the new software, when we go that direction, the site will look different of course, but I am going to try very hard to keep TGO's characteristic appearance intact. I don't want to throw the baby out with with wash water. And yeah, currently I'm just going to move the site to a "different plot of land". The address will stay the same.
  23. I disagree with this video's lumping Kydex holsters into the mix, particularly since Fobus are plastic and not Kydex, but you get the idea. Fobus rivet mounting is not secure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDeKtgkZKmQ
  24. I may take the server offline again tonight to repair and reindex portions of the database. That may resolve this issue.
