  1. Welcome to TGO! Good folks over at D&T.
  2. Just keep in mind that the big safe manufacturers generally "play the field" and provide models of varying build quality to cover their bases from a price-range perspective. The Liberty safe that you buy at a big-box-store or even a nonspecialized retailer is probably not going to be the same Liberty safe that you buy from someone who just does safes. Construction quality, intrusion resistance and fire-rating will all vary considerably from the cheaper to more expensive models.
  3. I would definitely consider $800 annually for something that had all of the amenities described. That's about 25% of what most folks will pay for season tickets to an NHL or NFL franchise, and I like shooting a whole hell of a lot more than I like watching overpaid athletes do their thing.
  4. They're all automatic trans... the 2011 has the tip-tronic style pseudo-manual. What Willis was saying is he's not sure if the 2010 did as well.
  5. You're the perfect buyer for the 2010 model then. The 2011 also brought the improved instrument cluster to the table, but that's probably not a deal breaker for most folks unless they just like the computerized information center.
  6. My primary problems with the Bodyguard 380 are the external safety and the absurd placement of the laser's activation button. I would recommend a Kahr PM380 over this any day of the week, but expect to pay more.

  8. My kids wanted to try this so we hunted down some How To guides. These seem to be popular here, so I thought I'd share some useful links. I honestly can't see how people charge what they do for these at gun shows and such because it's incredibly easy and the fun of making them far outweighs the cost of materials. If you've got kids and want to occupy them on a rainy day, or just want to make your own tactical jewelry, enjoy... 9. Every time I read articles like this, I am further nauseated by the decline of our "civilization" -- if you can call it that any longer. Children with lukewarm IQs have been giving each other dirty looks since the dawn of time but we didn't have a name for it until now. Mugging: the act of starting at each other and giving each other dirty looks. Since the act of being mugged is reasonable cause to use deadly force to defend oneself, I guess the next time someone appears to be staring in my general direction I can just start "gangbanging" on them. I'm about ready to move to the mountains, far away from people.
  10. Mexico has been invading the US for decades now. Just take a look around Nolensville Road in Nashville if you doubt it.
  11. Force refresh your browser and you should see a slightly larger, more prominent (14 x 20px) button now. Some of it's whitespace, but it's still clickable. Let me know how that works.
  12. Sure. It annoys me from time to time as well.
  13. I already do it. I hate driving behind them.
  14. Contrary to popular politically-correct opinion, profiling is a legitimate tool. We should all engage in profiling to an extent as part of our "situational awareness" methodology. That does not mean you should go on high alert if you see someone different, but if it tweaks your spidey sense, pay attention and adjust accordingly. Just keeping it real.
  15. Um... how about just teaching him that life isn't about guaranteed success but that satisfaction should come from putting forth a good effort in the pursuit of something? Sorry if that seems callous, but I see "entitled" people everywhere I look and I figure it's up to us to break that cycle. Everyone wants the payout, but no one is willing to suffer through the disappointments to get there.
  16. Delete all of your TGO cookies from your computer and try again. If you have something conflicting in your browser's cookie cache, that could be causing the problem. Based on your initial comment, however, I am pretty sure we won't miss you much if you decide to just give up on TGO entirely and resort to the other 8 or 9 gun sites you visit frequently. Just let me know if that's the way you want to proceed and I'll make a rare exception to policy and delete your account for you.
  17. Why is owning a piece of crap a prerequisite for being able to call it a piece of crap?
  18. Maybe in a few years after the warranty expires.
  19. Not to mention with certain mobile units with cross-band repeating built in (Yaesu 8800 comes to mind) you can bounce your hand-held through them and get out further than with the hand-held alone. This is very useful on hikes and such, provided your mobile is operating off of non-switched 12Vdc power. Which is yet another reason why I'd start with the mobile first.
  20. I would agree with this as well. Get together with another temporary agency and count your blessings, disguised as they might be. At least they didn't call the police, right? It's a learning experience.
  21. I'm on a Mac and on various Windows machines so it's not that. Tactical Republic is the national sponsor that rotates the large banner ads on our pages.
  22. It does make sense and it's because I'm doing some work behind the scenes today again. Performance today may not be indicative of the norm.
  23. Tennessee Gun Owners FAQ Tried the above?
  24. "And come back when you get a real gun!"
