  1. Meh. I do hardcore tech every day for a living but I've preferred my iPhone for the simple fact that it just works. I don't have to pull the battery because of needing a reset, I don't have to worry as much about rogue code upsetting the ecosystem, etc. It just. Works. That said, my next phone will likely be the Droid Bionic because I'm getting to where I actually could use some of the tools that the open-ecosystem provides, but I'm going to sit and watch for a while before making the leap again. I've been burned by two Android phones in the past and don't want a repeat.
  2. That's probably one of the things I'd agree with them on, actually. In a civilian self-defense shooting I've been taught by several instructors to not worry about magazine retention during the heat of the fight but rather to streamline the process and get the weapon back into action as quickly as possible, using as few wasted movements as possible. Those two points are a good example of cause an effect and I agree with your final conclusion. James has always been cordial to me and his instructors likely teach good material, but there are plenty of other instructors out there who teach good material as well but don't carry the baggage that TR does. It's truly a buyer's market when it comes to firearms training.
  3. First, welcome to TGO. Second, I'm not a fan of Uselton's operation at all but it's not uncommon to require a shooter to use store ammo at indoor ranges. Actually it's becoming more common as repairing those facilities is expensive and costs lost revenue due to downtime. Further, it allows the range to control their air filtration costs by using ammo with cleaner burning powders. Ideally a range with these policies should allow you to shoot from an "approved list" of ammo and allow you to source that ammo wherever you like. It doesn't take but a minute extra for the person checking you into the range to make sure you're shooting the proper stuff. As for the trigger work... you should have checked here first. Plenty of how-to information available and working on Glocks is like putting together Lego blocks.
  4. Let's call them what they are... Socialists.
  5. If it's starting again, it definitely isn't the server. Nothing has changed here since last week. Good luck with the troubleshooting.
  6. Welcome! I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't gotten around to going down to Terry Walden's range. I need to do that soon.
  7. Welcome Marine. Nice stick.
  8. Welcome to the forum. Kick your shoes off and stay a while.
  9. Three??? I knew about the first two. Who knew that midgets could be so vicious, or repeat offenders.
  10. I'll talk to him soon and will organize it. I hope to get out that way this weekend if at all possible.
  11. Sounds like there's enough uncertainty in this to call into question whether it was really an accident. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
  12. Let's go ahead and plan an October zombie shoot at one of the local ranges. I'm inclined to suggest the CHMR (Owl Hollow) facility but any place would do. Maybe a TGO Zombie Shoot around Halloween.
  13. These are always OK to post. Thanks!
  14. No, I think you just glazed over this... Still think I missed what he said?
  15. Ugh!!! Working to remove incorrect signs or repeal stupid legislation is commendable. Breaking the law, not so much. Hold yourself to a higher standard for the rest of us if not for yourself. That way we don't have to read about a TGO member getting busted for knowingly carrying where they knew they weren't supposed to be. Not only will that be bad news for you, it's going to be a major black eye for the responsible HCP community.
  16. Let me google that for you
  17. Welcome to TGO! Good folks over at D&T.
  18. Just keep in mind that the big safe manufacturers generally "play the field" and provide models of varying build quality to cover their bases from a price-range perspective. The Liberty safe that you buy at a big-box-store or even a nonspecialized retailer is probably not going to be the same Liberty safe that you buy from someone who just does safes. Construction quality, intrusion resistance and fire-rating will all vary considerably from the cheaper to more expensive models.
  19. I would definitely consider $800 annually for something that had all of the amenities described. That's about 25% of what most folks will pay for season tickets to an NHL or NFL franchise, and I like shooting a whole hell of a lot more than I like watching overpaid athletes do their thing.
  20. They're all automatic trans... the 2011 has the tip-tronic style pseudo-manual. What Willis was saying is he's not sure if the 2010 did as well.
  21. You're the perfect buyer for the 2010 model then. The 2011 also brought the improved instrument cluster to the table, but that's probably not a deal breaker for most folks unless they just like the computerized information center.
  22. My primary problems with the Bodyguard 380 are the external safety and the absurd placement of the laser's activation button. I would recommend a Kahr PM380 over this any day of the week, but expect to pay more.

  24. My kids wanted to try this so we hunted down some How To guides. These seem to be popular here, so I thought I'd share some useful links. I honestly can't see how people charge what they do for these at gun shows and such because it's incredibly easy and the fun of making them far outweighs the cost of materials. If you've got kids and want to occupy them on a rainy day, or just want to make your own tactical jewelry, enjoy...
