  1. Welcome! Colorful like a bunch of clowns.
  2. I'd just build them out of MDF.
  3. I spotted this Hardcore Pawn show one night while flipping through channels. I didn't bother watching for long but most of the shows on TruTV are "re-enactments" using actors and embellished scripts, per the disclaimer in the small text of the credits. I'd suspect it's the same with this show.
  4. Welcome, Andrew. Information about advertising (Supporting Vendor) can be found here... General Information
  5. Born and raised in western Kentucky. Moved to TN in the mid 90's. Welcome!
  6. I definitely did not mean to imply that this would not be a worthwhile endeavor. The Nat Guard shooting range is a nice facility and the concepts they will teach should be solid. Real long range shooting is a different animal, though, with additional complexities and variables thrown in: Temperature, wind, affect of convection (mirages) on shooting, etc. It's pretty fascinating stuff.
  7. I assumed they were using the National Guard range and was correct. There won't be any 1/4 mile shooting there, although they can at least teach you the basics.
  8. Where in the world are they doing a quarter mile shoot in Smyrna?? (I guess I could go read the link... heading there now...)
  9. I'm trying to talk myself into doing the ADD Stealth bumper and Rigid LED bar for trail use. I just don't really know if I really want that much metal hanging off the front of another truck.
  10. That's crazy talk.
  11. The Raptor wasn't designed as a luxo-barge. Read on... I doubt the 2012 model will come with them either stock or as an option but it's possible I'll be proven wrong. The few SUVs that come with them also have a self-leveling system for the rear suspension to keep the nose of the vehicle at a consistent angle in relation to the road. When you load down a pickup truck, you change the elevation of the headlights. With HID beams this means you go from scorching the pavement to scorching someone's retinas. This is why Ford didn't do HID headlights on the Raptor, and why they probably won't in 2012 either. If they go with some sort of self-leveling headlight design then I can see it being possible... but I doubt THAT since it would probably give the driver seizures with constant minute adjustments in an off-road setting. I'd probably throw up all over the interior if I had to ride in a truck that had constantly adjusting headlight beams. I understand putting HIDs on a truck that will see 99.9% pavement use but I'm curious: Why not just augment your existing lights with something like the Rigid dual-driving LED light setup that goes in the stock bumper's wings?
  12. Considering that you already started the pissing match, this is pretty low-class of you. I'd strongly suggest you either substantiate claims made against other members or keep them to yourself in the future.
  13. Do you have a particular brake in mind? For a particular rifle?
  14. I use a 5.11 backpack. Inside are a Surefire LED flashlight with extra batteries, a lighter, a knife, a few meal bars, mylar emergency blanket, a pair of comfortable all-terrain shoes and some socks, a pair of 5.11 pants, an instructor's belt, a Tilley hat, a poncho, an RCS holster for my Glock 19, a portable HAM radio, small med kit and a few other odds and ends. Basically it's the stuff I would need to transition from work attire into something more suitable for hoofing it home if I had to. I don't keep a firearm in that bag since I always have it with me anyway. I have the normal few liter bottles of water, rope, straps, shovel, axe, etc. in my truck as part of typical off-roading gear.
  15. A high school shop teacher where I grew up got tired of his mailbox being used for high-speed automotive batting practice, so he filled a mailbox with concrete and set it in place of his regular mailbox one weekend. According to the news story, he would occasionally swap it out like that. You never knew when it was going to be the ringer or the regular mailbox. Anyway, it finally paid off for him. Stupid kids came flying down the road with one of the teenagers in the bed of a pickup truck with an aluminum ball bat. Broke the kid's arms (both of them). Compound fracture in one arm, shattered the elbow in the other. Messed him up real good. Shop teacher got sued and then fined by the USPS and ended up with a felony charge. Total BS if you ask me, but my opinion (or that of many residents of the town) didn't make any difference on the outcome. I can pretty much guarantee the dumb ass teenager never swung a ball bat at someone else's mailbox though.
  16. I carry for my own protection and that of my family. Carrying a firearm is an act of self-sufficiency and is congruent with my belief that I and mine should be able to take care of ourselves. It is impossible for the police to be everywhere that you need them, and frankly I don't feel that it is their job to be in the first place. Owning a firearm is likewise an act of self-sufficiency but also is an act of patriotism regardless of what the hand-wringers and governing-elite want you to believe. Our forefathers understood clearly the difference between citizen and subject and it is something that resonates at my core and should at the core of every other American as well. Sadly, it doesn't for many.
  17. I'm sure you have your own good reasons for doing this so I won't argue that point. Honestly you are the first person I've encountered who has gone through the process of reversing the process so it's educational for me that it can even be done. Eight months, huh? Was it a very difficult process or just a long waiting game?
  18. My experience has been that they pay shipping both directions.
  19. Guys, ya'll need to jump on the offer and put these products to the test. I'm sure that DefensePackage would appreciate the feedback.
  20. You will find that S&W's customer service is second to none. Hopefully this will be your last and only experience having to use their CS department, though.
  21. This thread contains some good advice, some bad advice and some posts that are apparently just filler.
  22. I don't accept that either. Modern .380ACP ammunition is fairly effective. More so than a .22 or a .25 or a .32
  23. Meh... any object is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Some shops operate in a bubble and charge higher prices than their competitors, and get away with it because their clientele either also operate in a bubble or perceive some value in buying from that shop instead of their competitors. It's called capitalism. As Mike suggested, try to negotiate. If they won't negotiate, take your money elsewhere. Not a big deal really. Most of us know where the $$$ shops are in our respective areas, and we avoid them if we're looking for a deal.
