  1. This response wasn't necessary. Please refrain. There are plenty of people who feel the way you do, but there are also plenty of people for whom "reliving" is a form of catharsis.
  2. I was at work that morning. My employer at the time was an investor relations company, so as you can imagine we were plugged into the world financial markets and particularly the NYSE around the clock. The Bloomberg business news terminal was always up and there was always a television tuned to one of the major news networks. We knew about the attacks almost instantly. I remember a group of us had gone down to our mailroom where we could gather around another television and talk candidly. We were watching live when the second plane hit. There wasn't a dry eye in the place; folks gasped out loud and one person literally fell to their knees with tears in her eyes as the realization hit us all that this wasn't an accident. Our lives and our world were forever changed. America's age of security was gone in the blink of an eye. It didn't take long for us to close down the building and send everyone home. We had the capacity to work from remote and, like many, we feared that the attacks might be replicated across America's other downtown skylines. Our offices were just too close to the larger structures in downtown Nashville for anyone to be comfortable. Of course immediately following this, the stock markets remained closed so I spent the next week "working" from home. It mainly consisted of me checking email while I watched the saga unfold on Fox / CNN / MSNBC. The night of September 11th, our church had a prayer gathering. The building was packed; standing room only. I've only seen it that way on Christmas and Easter. The service officially ended about an hour later but I think it was nearly midnight before everyone had gone home and we turned out the lights. I think it was then that it struck me just how surreal the range of emotions that day had been. I will never forget small things that followed: The ridiculous rush on fuel at gas stations. The fact that you couldn't find an American flag to buy in the stores because they were completely sold out. The sheer number of cars you saw on the roads flying the little clip-on window flags. The little signs that read "PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN" that popped up at the various immigrant-owned businesses around town; especially if the owners were brown-skinned. They were afraid of being the victims of hate crimes, and rightfully so. People wanted to strike out against someone, anyone, and these poor Americans were fearful. I remember how sad that made me in light of this spirit of patriotism that our nation seemed to be experiencing.
  3. Where were you on the morning of September 11, 2001? What were you doing when you first learned of the attack on our country?
  4. I plan on going to see it once I'm off-call for work. Right now it'd be an exercise in frustration.
  5. That's pretty good stuff right there.
  6. MacGyver covered this already. His decision stands.
  7. It's very easy to install the DCAEK and there are numerous videos out there on YouTube that will guide you every step of the way. I'm not sure what the current cost is but I think I paid around $90 for mine last year. Edited to add: If you can do anything and everything on a Glock, you're good to go with the M&P. Very similar internally. No nasty surprises.
  8. It's a metaphor. These shots are part of a promotional for a Chinese diner.
  9. This. IMO the Pro is nice for folks who don't have the mechanical inclination to tie their own shoes and can't install the DCAEK or just prefer to let the factory do the work for some reason. If it were me I'd get a M&P 9L, drop in the DCAEK, add some Warren Tactical sights and call it a day.
  10. High probability of finding a hair your pint of ice cream.
  11. An ice cream tie in with Alec Baldwin? Does it taste like vinegar and water? I'm thinking that Summer's Eve Sherbet would have been a better choice.
  12. You laugh now, but when a zombie is eating your kidneys I'll have the last chuckle.
  13. Nah... you just have to lead them a little more than you do children or dogs. Seriously. Children and dogs are hard to photograph.
  14. I don't carry a firearm to educate people or make political statements. There are other ways to influence the political system and win friends that are far more effective than scaring the sheep. I'm down for anything civic-oriented that can paint gun owners in a positive light. I'm not down for events where morons show up wearing their Sunday-best Camouflage, My Cold Dead Hands t-shirts and hogleg revolvers strapped to their thighs thinking that it somehow will acclimate the general public to the idea that gun owners aren't a bunch of fringe lunatics. I can't tell you how many rallies I've been to where someone thought it would be awesome to bring an AR-15 and walk around with it strapped across their back. Positive-spin Failure. As someone else said, you need to flesh out your idea publicly so that folks can decide whether they want to participate.

I've had one of these for years; love it. Great pocket gun. Either it or my Kahr PM9 get routine pocket use.
  16. I'll do my absolute best to be there if you guys do this again. Not crazy about it being an open-carry-fest, but I'd definitely be concealing as usual.
  17. Sorry to hear of this. For some reason, September has historically just been a rough month for me and a lot of folks I know. Wish you could have been spared the same.
  18. I've done it in the past and it was a tremendous pain in the ass. That was back when I had a lot more free time than I do now. Short version is I most likely won't be doing it again unless I can completely outsource the entire thing and let some other organization take orders, do order fulfillment and then send whatever "royalties" might come of it to go toward the forum's overall operating expenses. No offense guys. Just telling you all like it is. If this Worx place can do all of the above, I'll consider letting them do all the grunt work but no promises.

  20. Look in to Norrell's Moly Resin. I used it a lot a few years ago and had great luck with it.
  21. I'd try to transfer with your existing employer if you can. The retail job market is still extremely competitive from what I've seen. May be a good time to consider a career change.
  22. I'd say the odds are pretty good that it's in his best interest to swear by something provided to him for free by a sponsor.
  23. I still fail to see how this is a 4th Amendment issue. My rights end where someone else's begin. If they, as the land owner, wish to refuse entry to anyone who refuses a search, both parties are within their "rights" to refuse. No harm, no foul. But if you want entry to their property, you must decide if allowing them to search your person is an acceptable trade. Seriously this has nothing to do with the 4th Amendment.
