  1. It seems pretty clear that that majority of the animosity toward cyclists stems from the actions or behavior of a minority of cyclists. My theory is that busy, distracted humans driving cars are far less likely to pay attention to the safe, courteous cyclist who poses no problem or inconvenience but that we quickly notice the cyclist who interrupts our drive along the roadway. When this happens, because we didn't notice the other cyclists who weren't a problem to us but only notice the few who are, we subconsciously make the generalization that all cyclists are problematic passive-aggressive rolling chicanes. Not all of them are. I would wager that the vast majority are not. And so what if a cyclist holds up a line of traffic due to having to pedal down the middle of a lane to avoid obstacles on the shoulder or where there simply is no shoulder? That guy has every same right to be on that roadway, unmolested, the same as the motorists do. Those of us in cars just need to simmer the hell down, stop being impatient, respect the safety of that person on the bicycle, and wait for the safest opportunity to pass them. I guarantee the guy on the bicycle wishes he wasn't out in front of your car slowing you down as much as you do, if not more so. Really the whole thing seems to boil down to motorists not wanting to be inconvenienced by cyclists, and cyclists not wanting to be injured or killed by motorists. Safety of another human being should trump convenience any day. As an aside, I can't help but wonder if any law enforcement agencies have ever thought to use undercover officers on bicycles to catch and ticket unruly motorists.
  2. Dan beat me to it. Those of you new to the area should come out to the shoot this Sunday.
  3. Frankly I don't understand the animosity toward cyclists. Those folks pay taxes just like the rest of you do, and they have just as much right to be on unrestricted roadways as you do.
  4. I'd like to get one of those for my daughter's boyfriend and take him hiking...
  5. More information would probably be beneficial to the majority here. I had to go Google it myself. Single Shot Association
  6. How about this... My wife and I will stop and get a load of bottled water and a few cases of different Coca-Cola products. We'll try to grab a wash tub or two and we can ice them down on-site ahead of lunchtime. I also have a folding table that we can bring to serve off of. Whomever is organizing the food (Dan?) please contact me via PM and we can discuss further. Obviously if there is anything folks want special to drink -- non alcoholic -- they should plan to bring it with them. We might be able to pick up a jug or two of sweet tea as well. Also, has anyone spoken with Charlie Haffner yet about the group's attendance and any special accommodations?
  7. No worries. Hope you get the answers you're looking for.
  8. This reads a lot like an advertisement being posted outside of the Trading Post forums. If that's not what you intended, apologies. If however it is, you need to read the rules of the forum and adjust this post accordingly and support the forum per the requirements to post ads.
  9. If you're not using the same email address you should be able to register another person. Like the others said, clear your browser cache and cookies.
  10. Investigating it...
  11. A good airbrush is a necessity. You also want an in-line moisture filter for your air supply line; a disposable type is sufficient if you're not going to be doing a lot of this. You're also going to want some latex or nitrile rubber gloves and a respirator mask capable of filtering solvent fumes. You also need to decide how you are going to prep the surface for good adhesion. Will you be media blasting the metal bits, farming that work out, trying alternative methods of scuffing them, etc.
  12. Incite hostility and drama? Are you serious? I posted a comment and it just didn't sit well with you. If you don't want people to comment on your threads, don't start threads on forums. But you know... I don't have time for this crap. Go cry somewhere else.
  13. If you've decided to carry for your protection, leave your middle finger at home. That being said, if the guy had done this to me I would have definitely be on the phone with the THP describing the incident, the vehicle, the plate number and tailing him at a safe distance to give them updates over the phone until they could have his ass pulled over. Sometimes douchebags like this just need a little face-time with the pavement, and a State Trooper is the best person for that job. For the record, him having an E-prefix license plate makes his actions even more inexcusable and had you called him in and pressed charges, he likely would have lost whatever civil organization affiliation he has.
  14. The 15th is a possibility for me at this point. Remote, but still a possibility. Depends on whether we are shutting down a datacenter that weekend or waiting until the next.
  15. Lighten up, Francis.
  16. Decided to put us out of his misery.
  17. Are we done with this guy yet? My ban finger needs some target practice.
  18. Come with me if you want to live!
  19. Jon, you keep talking about how you're only here for your own amusement. Imagine the irony here: The only reason I haven't banned you yet is because you're here for OUR amusement at this point. Dance, monkey.
  20. ...and this is where I spit my drink.
  21. Not unless your name is Azmat.
  22. The awesome thing is ... the guy who posted the Dumbass pic has been places and done things that Jon wants us to believe he's been and done.
  23. I'm editing the title of the thread to reflect what looks like the defacto date for the event.
  24. All of those experiences and only 23 years old too. That's a lot of living.
