1. I'd recommend going to Lowes, Home Depot or even a salvage store and buying some Formica counter top with backsplash and using that as your work surface. Cleans up great and the backsplash keeps small parts from rolling off the back of the table and down behind your bench where the spiders are going to take up residence. My bench is built with a double layer of 3/4" plywood as a top and then the Formica counter top is screwed down to it from beneath. I've got two six-foot sections end to end.
2. Unless they have changed the LEM, the first trigger pull is long and spongy and the trigger on follow up shots is lighter and shorter. This does not equal "consistent" in my book. But it's been at least six years since I had an LEM variant HK so the system may have been revised for the better since then.
3. Poor choice of tactic and it earned you a permanent eviction from the site. TGO is not a democracy but we do endeavor to run it as benevolently as possible. This means we try to have everyone's best interests at heart whenever we make a decision, and that there are expectations from all members in respect to the way they conduct themselves while participating on the forum. Trying to force things to go your direction by publicly subverting the moderators will never be tolerated. In this case, as others have said, your chum Wizzard has ripped off not one but several other members of TGO. That is not going to fly here. If someone rips off the other members, they will be thrown out and we will cooperate with any legal effort to hunt them down and extract the money owed if a member wishes to take it that far. Simply put, we have the members' backs on this and any deal, so every would-be thief needs to take note. As for you, our Code of Conduct clearly states the expectations for those who want to offer a difference of opinion to the Staff or the site ownership. The proper way is to contact us privately. However there is no "statute of limitations" on how quickly we must respond before you take it and make a public spectacle of it. That is never allowed and as such you are no longer welcome on TGO. The true shame of this is that you've chosen to represent a top notch shop in your signature and they do not deserve to have their name associated with your conduct here. I've taken the liberty of removing their info from your signature to preserve their reputation.
4. Next time you see that guy, tell him he needs to square up some deals he's ripped a few TGO members off on. It sounds like meeting him in person and taking what he's sold you is the only way to get a complete transaction out of him.
5. Not near as much as I used to. I plan on correcting that.
6. I've read several firsthand accounts mentioning the same for the various SEAL Teams. The amount of shooting the elite groups do is astounding, and obviously a contributor to their proficiency with the weapons they are assigned. This thread has been a gentle reminder that I need to get back out to the range more in 2012.
7. Just a random sideline observation, but I believe it is completely possible to slip from UC to CC ... or worse... if you don't regularly spend time keeping your skills sharp. The less often I shoot, the more dull I know my skills become.
8. I've had one briefly in the past and got rid of it pretty quick. I prefer a consistent trigger pull on a defensive gun. The LEM does not deliver that.
9. I have added this forum on a trial basis. Please be sure to read the announcement sticky post within to understand what is required for participation.
10. Cool resource.
11. Sorry, but I really don't see this adding much traffic or value to the site. Others may disagree, but there comes a point where diverge so much from the stated purpose of the site that we might as well add forums for people who like to dress as Furries, or forums who like to grow bonzai trees. You're all more than welcome to discuss your pets in the general lounge though.
12. All three of those happened in the ghetto. You do the math.
13. The Carry Prohibited Locations forums are not really working the way that I want them to either. It's something I intend to revisit and fix in Q1 of 2012.
14. JD Single Barrel and Diet Coke. Some might call it heresy, but ever since I started sampling better whiskeys and bourbons, I just can't drink JD without mixing it.
15. I love the trigger on the Glock. It has one of the shortest, most predictable, most tactile resets of any striker-fired handgun I've shot. Maybe you need to just give it more time to grow on you. Or... buy a Benefactor membership and sell it through the Trading Post here. I'm sure someone will take it off your hands legitimately.
16. Let me see what I can do. One would think 5k per message (arbitrary figure) is not a lot, but considering that most storage subsystems do not store in 5k blocks but rather larger block sizes, and considering that you would multiply the number of messages by the number of users, etc.... it's not exactly a linear equation. Our nightly database only backups compressed are about 300MB. Uncompressed our database size is already nearly 2GB. That's a lot of text.
17. I use my Macbook, iPhone and iPad on TGO constantly. I've yet to have it forget my login information.
18. Unsolicited recommendation.... but there are several reputable places online where you can run a background check on virtually anyone. I'd HIGHLY recommend that you spend the money and do this before you decide who you're going to become housemates with. You just never know and, frankly, you've had more than your share of drama at this point. I'd do damn near anything to avoid more if I were in your shoes.
19. Thanks for the support, all. Every little bit helps.
20. Very interesting. What's the history of this model?
21.

Premium Membership - 1 Year Sgt. 22. I will check and see what the software says. Benefactor memberships are automatically activated and deactivated by the forum software; I hardly if ever look at them personally. If it's deactivated I suspect your term has simply expired.
23. Welcome, D@n!
24. Good catch! iTrader scores require the feedback be left inside iTrader; not posted within the forum. I've got a bot running right now that will respond to recent Feedback Forum posts and remind folks to use iTrader instead.
25. I am not 100% sure but I think feedback scores are updated on a schedule kept by the software. It may not be automatic. I'll have to check into it.
