  1. While cleaning out the closets I found a stash of TGO hats that I didn't know we still had. I have added these to the TGO store (link here) and once they sell out they are likely gone forever. Quantities are extremely limited. Most I only have ONE on hand. The ladies are in luck as I've got several pink hats still, but the guys better act fast. Enjoy!
  2. I would not recommend a "mag dump" on the attacker unless he just won't go down. I would recommend understanding the difference between shooting enough to stop the threat and shooting gratuitously. Once the threat is gone, stop pulling the trigger. There's an old joke out there that I've read on the Internet to the effect that a guy was asked why he shot the bad dude eight times. His answer was because seven wasn't enough and nine would have been too many. Flippant, yes. Morbid, perhaps. But it actually contains a grain of truth. Shoot until the threat is no longer a threat. No more.
  3. Hmmm. Neither are any of the people who have been shot by them, I suspect.
  4. Threads like this bother me because I know that somewhere, someone will read it and take it to heart that you should shoot once and then hope the bad guy has given up the fight. That sort of thinking when actions should be autonomous gets the good guy hurt because he hesitates. Almost every defensive handgun class out there teaches you to utilize "nonstandard response" (i.e. shooting more than once, but only as many times as it took to stop the fight) when defending yourself. I've completely ingrained into muscle memory quick repetitive strings of 2-3 shots each and can guaran-damn-tee you that it's exactly how I would respond if, God forbid, I were ever put in the position to use deadly force for my protection or that of my family. Either we're not hearing the whole story or this guy needed a better attorney and needed better (or any) subject matter experts testifying on his behalf regarding the use of nonstandard response. So was John Harris in agreement with the charges or was he disgusted with the court's ruling?
  5. Nashville Armory's management needs to get back together with me on their Vendor participation here...
  6. I'm disinclined to do this simply because it's a rather inconsequential feature that carries a significant hit in terms of page load times and load placed on the server. I know it seems absurd, but sorting something as trivial as users online by user-name requires additional queries that slow things down. Sorry. Just do a <CTRL+F> or <CMD-F> (for the Mac geeks) and search for a username if you're trying to find someone.
  7. Hey... when I make a mistake, I'll fix it and own up to it. This one was a mistake.
  8. Update 4/14/12 After some discussions with a few members here, and after reviewing support conversations between Tapatalk and other IPB administrators, I have decided to re-enable the Tapatalk plug-in for TGO. I have also installed the latest version of the Tapatalk software on the forums. One key thing to note is that you will still be re-directed to the IPB mobile site when you access the Classifieds. There presently does not seem to be a way around this, but we will continue working with the developers to see if something better can be provided in the future. Thanks to all of you who provided feedback on the issue.
  9. I'll merge the threads.
  10. Search results showing keyword "shield" found all of the threads. You guys must be searching something else.
  11. Like I said, I knew this would not be popular with everyone or please everyone, but it's the way forward. The rough edges that you are dealing with now will go away and IPB is (and has been for a while) working on their on iPhone app so we'll take a look at that too. Tapatalk was a carry-over from our days of running vBulletin. It wasn't the greatest there and it wasn't the greatest here either. By reducing the number of non-IPB components in our "ecosystem" we can better control the presentation of the forum to all devices. As someone who has lived in IT yourself, I think you probably understand the why-for's of doing this.
  12. Looking into it. Off the cuff it looks like everything is set right; not sure really what the problem is here but give me a day or two to sort it out.
  13. I'll send you an email shortly. Thanks.
  14. Yep... sorry. Knew this wasn't going to be a popular move with everyone but it is what it is.
  15. If you refresh the browser session the loading screens will go away. They happen on the iOS devices more frequently than Android, if on Android at all. It's a weird result of how Apple parses DHTML.
  16. The lack of seller name has already been reported as a feature request by another IPB customer. I've lodged a request for the contact tab.
  17. It's always acted that way for me. Maybe you're just now noticing it?
  18. Well, I learned something new.
  19. What he said.
  20. No, there is no way to do that.
  21. Until the Classifieds software is overhauled such to allow us to grant permissions to certain user groups in certain Classifieds categories, you won't be able to do that in the Classifieds section. I will re-open the forum for it.
  22. Interesting. I'll make some adjustments to the software.
  23. Vendor Status sort of trumps Benefactor status and gives you all the same privileges. While I certainly appreciate the support, you guys are already supporting the site in a different way and I think the members all recognize that and appreciate it.
  24. Folks, there has been minor confusion about this recently and I want make a public statement about our policy regarding training classes offered by Police Departments or EMS / Fire Departments: So long as the tuition fees are going directly to the public agency conducting the class and not to an individual instructor, there is no need for the public agency to be a Vendor on TGO in order to announce their class. However, if an individual or commercial entity is using the public agency's facilities to conduct a class and that individual or commercial entity is the recipient of the tuition fees, then that person or entity must be a TGO Vendor in order to advertise their class. Some examples of things that would be permissible under our policy: First aid class conducted by a Fire Department or EMS agency Handgun Permit class conducted by a Police Department Self Defense class conducted by a Police Department An example of a class that would not fall under this policy: High Risk Civilian Contractor class conducted by Blackwater, presented by the East Dirtfloor TN Police Department Obviously there may be times when the lines are blurred between a class being conducted by vs. being presented by a public agency. In those cases, an on the field ruling may be required and the decision of the TGO staff will be final. Thanks.
  25. Do want. I'll pick up one of these as soon as they are available.
