  1. Welcome to TGO. My grandfather taught me to shoot as well. Those are some of the best memories I have of shooting things.
  2. Three opinions that I have: 1. The video makes me want another 1911 for my collection even more for some reason. 2. Glocks generally do work reliably. Many people discovered this before James did. 3. When I feel the need to carry 45ACP I generally reach for my M&P 45 4-inch. Best damn plastic 45 I've ever owned.
  3. There are no specific laws regarding carrying without a holster, although I seriously wouldn't recommend it just for safety's sake.
  4. Life Lessons Learned These Past Few Days... 1. No matter how bad things are at the moment, they could always be worse. Be thankful. If you can't see anything to be thankful for, be thankful for the fact that you haven't been shown how much worse it really could get. 2. Material things are temporary. Don't let them dominate your life. Don't let them dictate how you spend your time by forcing you to work more than you rest, just to keep those material things around. It's not worth it. 3. Families aren't perfect, but they are still family. Don't let arguments go unresolved. Don't let hateful things said go without being retracted. Say you're sorry. Tell them you love them. One day you won't be able to. 4. True friends will make themselves known. If you ever wonder who your friends really are, look around when all hell is breaking loose in your life. If they're still there with you, they're a true friend. If they aren't, they're an acquaintance and shouldn't distract you from finding true friends. When you find one, treat them like family. See above. 5. Live every day like it's your last. One of these days, you'll be right.
  5. Items do not magically appear in iTrader; you've gotta enter the transaction.
  6. Autosave will keep you from losing what you're trying to type and post if you happen to have a browser crash or fat-finger something and go back a screen while you're typing. If you come back to a reply box and start to post again, you will notice an option to restore auto-saved content.
  7. Yep, the Raptor has almost the exact same track width as the H1. It's part of what makes these trucks so much fun to try and park. Yours is looking great, Steve! I wasn't sure how I'd like the rear-exit on the exhaust system but it really looks good. Probably keeps the tips a lot cleaner than the Magnaflow kit on mine as it catches damn near everything the rear tire throws at it.
  8. This sounds like an amazing class and one I wish I could participate in. Unfortunately other obligations preclude my availability this time around. Hopefully it's offered again in the future and hopefully some folks from TGO will take advantage of this one. Great stuff, Randy. Keep it coming!
  9. Thanks, all. Prayers are about the only thing keeping us going up here while we take care of my dad's affairs. It's just a bad mess all the way around.
  10. Welcome to TGO.

Our tastes, mine and yours, are very similar. I've found that as long I as stay closer to dark beers (porters, stouts, black ales) or at the very least amber beers (amber ales, grolsch, dark reds) I stand a good chance of at least finding tolerable the new things that I try. I've tried hundreds of different craft beers as we've traveled across the country and I always look for a dark beer on the list even if I decide to be adventurous and try something else, just to have a backup plan. Locally you should try Yazoo's Onward Stout, Yazoo Sly Rye Porter and... in their tap-room only, their Nitro Stout. All of these are excellent darker beers and you can sample all of them right in their tap-room should you decide to visit. Blackstone's Nut Brown Ale and St. Charles Porter are both very good as well. Lastly I forgot to mention my favorite tool for trying and tracking new beers: Beer Buddy [iTunes] [Home Page]
  12. Folks, we certainly need to hear about bad organizations and complaints like this are allowed - however I must insist that you put some thought into your post and present the facts rather than just post that they're a bad org. Remember the basic W's of reporting! Who, What, Where, When Why. Thanks.
  13. Thanks, all. This thread means a lot. I'm not going to downplay how bad this week has been. It's the roughest I've been through yet. The prayers are definitely appreciated and being put to good use.
  14. Nahhh... there are some really good affordable options from Springfield, Dan Wesson and even SIG. Part of what makes SIG 1911's so damn good for the money is the fact that they abandoned the finicky internal extractor for an external design that they've figured out a long time ago. They generally just... work.
  15. Talks are under way to have some TGO events there down the road. We really need to let these guys get past the opening week madness before we start trying to pencil in group range time. Right now they're drinking from the proverbial fire hose.

My man cave doesn't have the same requirements that public establishments do regarding carry and having a beer. They aren't mutually exclusive activities and both are heartily encouraged.

Sometimes you can find the Chimay three-pack gift set that has Blue, Red and Gold in it along with a goblet. Great way to try all three wth the proper drinkware included.

Agreed. Blue is my favorite. I have two Chimay goblets in my cabinet from the last tasting I went to. Nice little party favors and I use them exclusively for Trappist and Lambic style beers. They need the wide mouth to breathe.
  19. Good for you. I've shot at On Target a lot over the years. I stopped doing it when their air scrubbers stopped being able to keep up with the volume of shooting and I began leaving with enough black soot in my nose to be sneezing that crap out for the next few days. I also stopped doing it when they stopped keeping their lanes in operational order from where all of the idiots were shooting the cable systems to pieces. They may have improved it some over the past years. Who knows. I stopped going and have shot outside exclusively until I saw the quality of the equipment that Nashville Armory has invested in for their range, and saw the investment they have made in air scrubbers to keep it clean. But yeah, enjoy whatever other range you want to use. Free country.
  20. Picked up a couples membership today for me and my wife. This place is right on the way to and from work for us so I guarantee I will get more than my money's worth out of the annual membership.

Huge beer snob here. Turned my wife into one when we were dating. My fridge is a beer mecca. Currently on hand: Left Hand Oktoberfest Highland Brewery Oatmeal Porter Highland Brewery Black Mocha Stout Magic Hat Hex Laughing Skull Amber Ale
  22. This is one of those cases where you get what you pay for. Can you find another range in the area that might be cheaper? Yes. Can you find another range in the area with this exact same equipment setup? Not at this time. MacGyver went over and did a nice behind the scenes tour a few days ago and said that the only place he's seen that compares to this is the Scottsdale Gun Club out in Arizona.
  23. No kidding? That's a nice touch.
  24. It's required in my industry.
