  1. So I installed the Apex RAM yesterday. I ended up putting the RAM in my M&P 40 because I was having difficulty with the sear block in the 9. Turns out it wasn't the sear block but the damn plug that S&W puts in the frame to close off the integral locking system hole if you don't have the ILS on your gun. Damn thing kept getting in the way of the sear block with the RAM installed. Same thing happened on the M&P 40 which is how I figured out it wasn't a problem with the sear in the 9 but something else, and found the ILS plug. A few hits with a file and stone on the edge of the block gave me just the right amount of clearance to get it past the ILS plug. Lesson learned after a bit of cursing and scratching my head. Anyway, the M&P 40's reset was already the best I've had on any of my M&P handguns but this definitely made it even more pronounced. Not quite as firm and loud of a reset as on my Glock 19, but pretty damn close. I'd recommend it as a worthwhile upgrade. I figure I will end up ordering the FSS / Trigger kit for my M&P 9 sometime in the next 30-60 days as it incorporates the positive tactile reset of the RAM with the benefits of the DCAEK and the revised trigger system. If it's as good as they say it is, another one may end up in my M&P 45 also. Stay tuned.
  2. I'd do it unless someone told me to stop. That being said, I've had range officials try to tell me I couldn't reclaim my own brass before. I told them to engage in Biblical relations with themselves too, and never shot there again.
  3. Probably a Chupacabra. I'd arm up if I were the OP.
  4. Or a Chupacabra.
  5. Maybe it's a Huck.
  6. There's a mess of Blue Herrons that nest in the trees off of SR-840 on some land between Cox Road and Arno Road. Obviously there's more of them in the area than that, as proven by your picture.
  7. I'm not sure what the heck I just watched.
  8. I've never seen this happen. It might be a setting (I'm searching for it) or it could be a quirk of how your browser leverages AJAX when using the Quick Reply feature. What browser are you using and have you tried it on a different one?
  9. Absolutely.
  10. Good looking kit. You may end up finding something else for your "trunk gun" the more you shoot it.
  11. I used to be paranoid about that but I've gotten over it. Modified handguns are the norm now and a good defense lawyer should be adept at dealing with those questions. Unless you do something stupid to your firearm that makes it discharge on it's own, and as long as your self-defense shooting is clearly justified, I think it's really a moot point. They might as well try and make a case about the fact that since you were wearing Reebok track shoes, you were better equipped to run away from the situation. It would make as much sense.
  12. The DCAEK was a worthwhile upgrade on my M&P 45. The RAM alone is not currently available for the M&P 45, however the FSS with Trigger kit is and it provides the benefits of the RAM along with the benefits of the DCAEK and improved trigger. If I were doing it over, and I might, I would just do the FSS with Trigger for the M&P 45.
  13. Just as the title says, I'm curious as to whether anyone here is running the Apex Tactical Specialities Forward Set Sear and Trigger [link] on their M&P series and if so what you think about it. I run the DCAEK on my M&P 45 and ordered the RAM for my M&P 9. The trigger on my M&P 40 was damn near perfection (almost Glock-like) out of the box so I've resisted the urge to monkey with it. I figure that one was truly an anomaly since so many M&Ps have spongy almost imperceptible reset. The RAM should make the reset on my M&P 9 very tactile and audible. But that FSS / Trigger kit promises an almost 1911-ish feel to the trigger and reset, which really lights my fire. I'd just like to her from folks who actually have one and who've used it. Thanks.
  14. I'd forgotten about the Stockyard. Very good food.
  15. Tremendous offer from Randy. A few years back another local training group, CIS, did a "deep concealment" class which centered primarily around using pocket guns, J-frame revolvers, that sort of thing. It seemed like a pretty popular class but I never got the chance to attend personally.
  16. Welcome, John!
  17. This was going to be my vote.
  18. Good luck with your career in the USAF. That's a good move!
  19. I'd have agreed with the idea that the M&P was a new and somewhat unproven platform about 5-7 years ago but this isn't the case any longer. It's proven itself to be very reliable and is fielded by plenty of law enforcement agencies and civilians alike. Further, one only has to consider the teething pains of the Gen 4 Glock to realize that just because a firearm has a pedigree, it doesn't mean that it is going to be more reliable than something new to the field. I'd stick with what works best for you. Sounds like you prefer the M&P.
  20. I think everyone ought to own a gun... I just think some folks really need some remedial training in how to use one before they go shooting them around other people.
  21. There are Hampton, Courtyard and Marriott all nearby. I think the Vanderbilt Marriott is probably one of the nicer in the area.
  22. What time Friday? I was there fairly early in the afternoon shooting with my wife and daughter. Never saw anyone doing anything unsafe. I did practice a few double-taps at the very end of my ammo supply but my shots all landed within 2" of each other, center of mass, so I'm pretty sure I'm not the grand master you're speaking of.
  23. So I guess I should offer up an explanation as to why I don't delete accounts. It's probably been posted somewhere else here in the past but, what the heck... Basically it leaves "holes" in our forum when I do that. Posts suddenly become attributed to Guest or Guest_yourusername which kind of screws up the search-ability of posts and so forth. It's a decision somewhat made on the basis of aesthetics, functionality and practicality. What you really need to know is that we don't keep any personal information about you other than what you provided when you signed up. Your email address is pretty much it. Beyond that we keep a small history of the IP addresses you visited from, and whatever you posted on the forum publicly. If you clear out your private messages, eventually those too go away as we age out our database backups. So I'm not sure exactly what deleting a user account would do for a person's privacy, especially when you consider that any post you've made publicly has long since been indexed by Bing, Google, Yahoo and whatever alphabet-soup agencies care to index things like that. If you're worried about being off the grid, per se, that horse ran off the farm the first time you started using the Internet. Anyway, so there it is. Hope it makes sense, but I also hope it doesn't make you panic.
  24. This is a very common sight in Murfreesboro for some reason. I would assume that the city has some sort of panhandling ordnance, but if they do, they don't enforce it from what I've seen.
