  The would be fools not to release a carbine right now, especially if they have been building up stockpiles of them.  Imagine being the only manufacturer with all the rifles anyone would care to buy, ready to ship.  You couldn't walk into your local gun store right now without seeing Glock carbines and not much else on the wall.  It would overnight become the ubiquitous modern carbine by sheer fact of being the only one available.   You just can't buy popularity like that.

Actually a little digging resulted in the claim that they are releasing what is essentially a Model 36 slide on a Model 30 frame.  Full size, slim frame .45ACP.  10+1 capacity.   If that's it, I'm probably going to die from yawning.

My guess is that they're finally getting off their Austrian butts and producing a carbine / modern sporting rifle / alternative to the AR-15 platform.

Thanks for the kind words.  Our Trading Post is successful because of the members.  By and large we have the best bunch of folks on the Internet right here, and we've only in rare occasions had to crack down on someone for a bad deal in the Trading Post.   You're in good company with these folks.

I was eyeballing a R1 Enhanced recently at a local shop.  They're nice!  The only thing I'd be tempted to do to one of them would be to replace the thumb safety with an ambidextrous version, install a set of flat-bottom VZ Operator grips and add a magazine well.  With those things done, it'd be about perfect for a working 1911.
