1. I had a thought and I'm floating this out there as just something to chew on.  I'm not advocating any sort of unrest, so let's just get that clear from the start.   BUT... Have you ever seen someone who was absolutely right about something get argued with to the point that they could no longer gracefully, tactfully articulate their point on a matter and seen them shut down the talking, rational side of their brain.  Have you seen them allow the lizard brain to take over and then they start throwing punches?   I have.  I've seen people get so flustered, so frustrated, so galled by the audacity of the moron arguing with them that they finally just clammed up and threw a massive haymaker and put the moron on their ass.   Frankly, I'm worried that sooner or later the part of society who still believes in the Constitution is going to clam up and stop trying to argue.  And when that happens, God help us for what might be next.   :meh:
2.   We've got to wrap our heads around the rules of engagement, folks.  Those who seek to do away or castrate the Second Amendment will argue that the Constitution is a living document, open to interpretation and subject to editing and revision via Amendments.  We're trying to fight this battle as though there is some magic fail-safe in place that will keep them from doing this when the sad fact of the matter is that, though written in the blood of patriots, as far as these leaches are concerned the Constitution is not written in indelible ink.  To them it's a matter of drafting new legal documents, sailing them through Congress and calling it a day's work.   If they succeed in doing that, legally they will have changed the fabric of the nation's cornerstone document and with the Second Amendment gone, it won't be so treasonous anymore when viewed through the frame of the newly modified Constitution.  See what I'm getting at?             If they legally change it... the Supreme Court won't hear of anyone being called up on charges of treason.  The charges will have to be framed in context of the law, and the law will be different.     Our fight is to keep them from changing the Constitution.  If we lose that fight, we're fucked.  Plain and simple.   We can sit around now and make claims against people for treasonous thoughts, treasonous desires and treasonous machinations, but if we lose this fight, all of that will amount to squat.   We need to be aware of what these cretin are doing, and we need to fight them every step of the way.  But calling them traitors to the country and expecting that to sell on the battlefield of mass media is public relations suicide.  The voting public will close their ears to it and write us all off as a bunch of right wing loons.   The complacency of the past few generations has screwed us into a disadvantage by allowing the Left to gain complete control of the media, to foster an "on the government tit" society of entitlement, and allowing the Liberals to write the rules of engagement.  Our fight is going to be a really difficult one but the sooner we start taking up the tactics being used against traditional, conservative values and fight fire with fire, the better off we will be.
3.   Hogwash.  It'll be chambered in .45GAP
4. Not gonna lie... the receipt is in the safe.  The hat, well... I'm going to wear it til it falls apart.  I think that's the best way to honor a guy like that.  :)
5.   I've joined you in the lameness.  Plus I'm a Glock fanboy at heart, so... what the heck.
6. Yeah, because I have a well documented history here of candy coating the way I feel about people, things or issues.   I still say it's preemptive to call the guy a traitor just because he has an opinion on something that runs sideways to what you or I think or believe.  Dissent is the highest form of patriotism, even if it's dissent that you don't agree with.  Until he starts trying to actively betray the American people, our interests, our sovereignty or dismantle the Constitution, he's guilty only of having some really fucked up ideas.
7. I wonder how long before the BATF starts looking into these folks who have bought rifles only to turn around and flip them for profit.  Onesies twosies, probably not going to attract a whole lot of attention.  Someone on Gunbroker who went and cleared out their local Academy Sports & Outdoors stock of black rifles and then listed them for sale?  Yeah... that guy's probably going to get a visit.
8. Last week I was poking around looking for a new .300 BLK upper for my SBR and noticed that Noveske had a new hat in their catalog. Doing the reasonable thing, I ordered one. It shipped out on January 2nd and was packed by the man himself. Your AR15 may have an inflated value right now, but money couldn't buy this hat from me. I'm man enough to admit I teared up a little when I saw his signature on the packing slip. MFNJN... Mother F'n John Noveske. Rest In Peace, John!!! :(
9. As posted elsewhere...   ###     ALERT: Fingerprint / photo reqs for Trusts/Corp coming soon?   I'm sure most of you've heard of the CLEO sign off for individuals going away potentially. Well, that's good news, but what I didn't realize until today is that the main purpose (title) of the proposed change is to require each responsible member of a trust of corporation to submit fingerprint cards and photographs. This new regulation hasn't been adopted yet, but supposedly it's in the stage of "proposed rule making" so it may only be a matter of time. The Department of Justice is proposing to amend the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) regarding the making or transferring of a firearm under the National Firearms Act. The proposed regulations would (1) add a definition for the term "responsible person"; (2) require each responsible person of a corporation, trust or legal entity to complete a specified form, and to submit photographs and fingerprints; http://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/eAg...&RIN=1140-AA43 This would be a huge strike against the trust/corporate route and would add time and complexity. I would imagine processing times going up as the rate of paperwork errors should increase when everyone has to submit additional documentation.
10. The site is just ridiculously fast during the day but once we load it up with 400+ active users in the evening, all searching and posting, it really comes to a crawl.  The good news is that a friend of mine has been working at getting a very reliable new server set up for us, so I'm hopeful that we can move soon.   When it comes to servers and infrastructure, I'm pretty good at a lot of things, and really good at a few, but this guy is awesome at Linux servers so when he volunteered I knew it was time to step aside and let him do his magic.
11.   lol... I assure you that's not it.   I've had my own thoughts about the fact that a lot surrounding Sandy Hook just don't feel right and I was willing to listen to what that guy was saying until I got to the point of actually trying to read his page.  It was horrible.
12. I look at the profit people are making off of selling their personal ARs and such the same way I do the winnings most people get from the lottery.  Here today, gone tomorrow... and gone very quickly.   There's no way I am selling any of what I own just to make a quick buck, especially given that there's no guarantee I would ever be able to replace it.
13.   TF is that page trying to accomplish?  I can't even read it.  Is there a requirement somewhere that fringe lunatics have to suck at web page design?  This guy might completely be on the right track but I'm never going to get to the end of what he's shoveling because trying to read that jumbled mess of columns and colors and fonts and pictures makes my whole face hurt.
14. Unfortunately there's no way of knowing whether those are in stock or not per their web site.  They open at 7am for calls.  Might want to call before you order.
15. You know, we've REALLY got to get away from the idea that anyone who has an opinion is guilty of treason.  McChrystal is a useful idiot, but he's not in an elected office and using that position to abolish a Constitutional right.  Until that happens, is he really a traitor or just a moron?  There's a difference.
16. It's funny... MacGyver and I were talking about these very facts the other day over lunch.  We knew we were right, but here's a company confirming it:   Via Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/MegaArms
We here at MEGA understand everyone’s frustration with the high demand and low supply of our products. Please let us explain what is causing the current situation.  We are currently running 24/7 at our facility. Unfortunately we do not have any more floor space within the facility we occupy, so it’s not as easy as buying machines and “hitting go”. In the few weeks before the recent tragedy we were just weeks away from acquiring a new facility and more machinery. This would be a financial commitment that would take years to recoup. The machines we use range in cost from 400k-1million dollars, not including tooling, operators and training.    We have determined that due to the attitude of the current administration, it would not be fiscally responsible or in the best interests of our valued employees to take the risk of adding a new facility. We value our employees and do not want open a new facility, and hire a new crew to then turn around and lay them off if there is new legislation passed.    We hope that all of our customers and fans understand. We will continue to do our best to get parts out to you guys.    We also encourage anyone who comes across one of our “authorized dealers” (on our website) price gouging to contacts us via email @ sales@megaarms.com Thanks for your support! Mega Arms
Emphasis, mine.   As I was saying, Mac and I had both commented to the effect that were we in charge of a company like Mega Arms, Magpul, etc. we'd be running 24/7 to meet demand right now too but there's absolutely no way we'd look at expanding operations until the political climate sorts itself out.   It's pathetic that Congress will even give thought to dropping the axe on what is one of the few profitable industrial sectors right now.  Any new legislation could displace hundreds of thousands of workers across the US and absolutely shut down vital cash flow.
17. Nothing a little aluminum oxide, a media blaster and some Cerakote can't fix.
18.   Don't confuse logic with propaganda, here.  Everyone knows that anything with a NATO cartridge spec like 5.56 or 7.62 is like being hit with a plasma rifle.  Arms just blow the fuck off.
19.   I concur.  My initial reaction was "F### him and anyone who looks like him" but then the rational side of me took hold and I once again took inventory of the fact that he is a [former] face of the US Military, viewed as a subject matter expert by the unthinking masses, and therefore his words will and do carry weight.   Unfortunately his opinion will matter to a degree.  It's just one more bit of mental programming via mass media, for the gullible public to dutifully lap up and regurgitate later when it comes time to make their own decisions.   People who think for themselves are dangerous.  They're doing everything they can to make sure you, I, our family members, friends, neighbors, don't do that.
20. Random thoughts running through my head...     1.)  Disarming the populace was part of bringing democracy to Iraq.   2.)  You don't get to be a general, let alone Commander, International Security Assistance Force and Commander, U.S. Forces Afghanistan without being part of the political machine.  Granted, Gen. McChrystal dicked himself good with his comments about Obama while in theater, but this strikes me as him trying to make new friends by going back and licking the boots of those who slapped him down.   3.)  This makes me wonder about the notion that the military would take the side of the people if it was asked to turn against them as part of a mass confiscation of firearms.  I'm guessing the military would possibly fragment as a result, but that in turn makes me wonder how long that fragmentation would be allowed to occur before soldiers were executed by other soldiers for treason.       As Larry Vickers put it over on M4Carbine.net earlier today...
21. Source: http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/01/08/former-gen-mcchrystal-assault-rifles-are-for-battlefields-not-schools/   Gen. McChrystal: Assault rifles are for battlefields, not schools Jane C. Timm, @janestreet 8:45 am on 01/08/2013   Former Gen. Stanley McChrystal, who led the war in Afghanistan, endorsed strong gun control laws Tuesday on Morning Joe.   “I spent a career carrying typically either an M16 or an M4 Carbine. An M4 Carbine fires a .223 caliber round which is 5.56 mm at about 3000 feet per second. When it hits a human body, the effects are devastating. It’s designed for that,” McChrystal explained. “That’s what our soldiers ought to carry. I personally don’t think there’s any need for that kind of weaponry on the streets and particularly around the schools in America.”   The AR-15, the civilian version of an M-16 or M-4, has been the weapon of choice  in many recent mass shootings —both Adam Lanza and James Holmes used them in Newtown and Aurora, respectively. Since Lanza massacred 20 young children in Newtown, Connecticut, gun control has returned to DC’s front-burner and the president has called for strict gun control measures.   “We’ve got to take a serious look—I understand everyone’s desire to have whatever they want—but we’ve got to protect our children, we’ve got to protect our police, we’ve got to protect our population,” McChrystal said. “Serious action is necessary. Sometimes we talk about very limited actions on the edges and I just don’t think that’s enough.”   McChrystal led the American and NATO forces in Afghanistan, but resigned amidst scandal after Rolling Stone magazine published a controversial profile that portrayed the General and his staff as dismissive and disrespectful of the president.   Tragic shooting sprees aside, McChrystal also pointed to the more deadly and common gun violence—32 people die each day from gun violence—as another reason he believes gun control is necessary. “The number of people in America killed by firearms is extraordinary compared to other nations, and I don’t think we’re a bloodthirsty country,” he said. “We need to look at everything we can do to safeguard our people.”
22. That... is an abomination.

Noob question

Yep.  So let's address the initial question a bit further...   Your friend's SIG is a double-action / single-action (DA / SA) handgun with an external hammer.  Single-action means that the trigger does not cock the hammer but merely releases it.  Double-action means that the trigger is capable of both cocking and releasing the hammer.  A handgun denoted as both double-action / single-action is capable of being operated in either form.  Single-action trigger pull is usually much lighter and shorter than when pulled completely through via double-action.   The de-cocking mechanism safely lowers the hammer from a cocked position, returning the cocked handgun to double-action mode.   The reason your M&P does not have a de-cocking lever is because it is a "striker fired" design.  It does not have a hammer, but rather an internal striker which is cocked by cycling the slide, either manually or semi-automatically with each complete action of the slide during a normal firing sequence.  The striker is kept in a "safe" position normally by the design of the sear which incorporates a striker (or firing pin) block.  The block is lowered as the trigger is pulled and the sear disengages.
24. Thanks for posting.  Hope to see you active.
