Moratorium on pejorative "creative" misspellings
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Old adage: Steel sharpens steel. My intent is that if we push each other to taller heights here, we will be better equipped when we find ourselves in "discussions" with the so-called intellectual elite elsewhere. All too often internet forums inhabited by special interest groups tend to become "amen pews". We take for granted that our fellow members have similar thoughts, morals, ethics, ideals as we do and we don't have to work as hard to make a case for our beliefs or opinions. -

Worth noting... Member Spicy McHaggis has been shown to the door because he couldn't grasp that we're dead serious about not crapping in people's Trading Post threads. We're not going to put up with folks giving sellers a ration of crap over pricing. Free Market, baby. -

Eh... I don't think he's that much of an ego-maniac. I think he's a true believer and just wants to see us become a Socialist Republic, regardless of who's in charge. Now the people who have elevated him to godlike status and are trying to get the 22nd Amendment repealed so that Obama can stay in power for years and years and years like the other Hussein, those guys are the ones who want him and only him in charge.

Honestly after talking with several other people who are in tune with such things, and after doing more research on my own, I think that the market for rifles is going to equalize somewhat within the next 4-8 months. What I think won't equalize anytime soon and will only get worse is availability of ammo and reloading supplies. The general consensus among people who know about such things seems to be that Attorney General Eric Holder doesn't see Obama having much chance in snuffing the Second Amendment. However the Second Amendment does not specifically reference ammunition therefore that's where the Administration will turn it's sights in order to castrate us. As one person put it to me the other day, the likely place they will start is by using OSHA to shutter the doors on ammunition plants in the US and then by passing new laws forbidding the importation of ammo from outside the US. Consider that a lot of what Winchester makes is already produced off-shore and you can see where this would get ugly real fast. Cliffs Notes: Cost and availability of rifles and mags will stabilize soon enough Cost and availability of the ammo to feed them will be ugly. Very ugly. The Second Amendment will effectively be limited to those people who can afford to participate. -

As an update... This will occur on Saturday, February 2nd. Details forthcoming via private message to a small group of possible attendees, sometime in the next 24-48 hours. Again, I am keeping this small and focused. If you don't get an invitation this time don't despair because you will likely get an invitation at some point in the future. My plan is to kind of rotate this a bit in order to keep it fresh and lively. MacGyver and I are also talking about involving some special guests from time to time in order to make it more than just a bunch of us chewing the fat, and give it some value. Special guests will NOT be announced ahead of time. You'll find out who they are when you show up. And as stated before, we're not going to publicly announce where these meetings will take place. Because we want to keep it limited to small, intimate groups, only those who receive the invitation for a given month will know where it's being held. This is especially important given the fact that we hope to have special guests from time to time and they may not want to be mobbed by people. Makes sense, right? More to come! Be watching your inboxes, folks. :)

From what I've seen lately, a 100% markup isn't unusual. SIG 716's were retailing at $1800 about a month ago and now they're fetching $3500-5000 on GunBroker. Someone is likely to pay it. -

I wish I could tell you that Andy fought the good fight, and the Sisters let him be. I wish I could tell you that - but prison is no fairy-tale world... -
Average MPH? I suspect you mean MPG. 13 mpg average it seems no matter what it's doing. Same whether we're driving around town or towing a heavy 1960's Oldsmobile across two states on a trailer. It just doesn't deviate from that mpg much. Would rather not say what color ours is as my wife drives it more than I do and she doesn't need the notoriety from TGO.

You and me both. :) And seriously, I can't read your posts without hearing H. Jon Benjamin's voice. That's awesome. -
We get this question a lot. A member wants to buy a TGO sticker or a Benefactor membership but doesn't have a PayPal account, doesn't want one, and isn't going to sign up for one. No problem! Having an account with PayPal is not necessary at all. Members can still purchase these things and merely use the PayPal interface to process your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover card just like they would anywhere else. And we are working on adding another credit card processor to the mix as well. But can I just mail a check instead? Unfortunately, no. Electronic transactions help us keep things automated and less burdensome for the folks behind the scenes. Sorry.
