  1. It's possible to build or buy one that will fold down and fit into a tactical backpack (Vertx, Eberlestock, Tactical Tailor, etc.) but you're going to have to keep it on you at all times otherwise it becomes a secondary weapon and one that you'll have use precious time to retrieve from lock-down.
  2. This news posting has the full body-cam footage from the entry team. DAMN. BODY CAM VIDEO: Moment Nashville Police encounter elementary school mass shooter | WZTV (fox17.com) Officer Englebert did WORK on this day. Out ####ing standing!!
  3. Interestingly, on the heels of this incident our neighbors in Kentucky are proposing legislative changes that will provide SROs for private schools. New legislation expands SRO options for Ky. private schools (msn.com)
  4. News reports are saying that these are the two Metro Nashville Police Department officers who engaged with and took out Hale, preventing her from murdering any more children or adults. Officer Rex Englebert, a four-year MNPD veteran Officer Michael Collazo, a nine-year MNPD veteran If accurate, bravo to them! They went in, did work, and saved lives. HEROES.
  5. NONE of them can be trusted. It's impressive that you felt it necessary to bring a partisan slant into this thread, though. Most folks wouldn't have had the nerve.
  6. Yeah that is the name I heard originally but the new and more accurate information points to a similar situation, ableit not with that person.
  7. I'm hearing rumors that some facts about the person who committed this crime today may make you wish you'd held on this comment if they are true.
  8. One morning last week, my eight-year-old daughter came into my exercise room, sat down on a bench and started watching the morning news that I had on the television. I usually keep the volume off and just watch the headlines while I'm rowing. Anyway, one of the news stories was about the lunatic in Nashville who attacked a woman in the laundromat and smashed her in the face and head with a piece of pipe. All on CCTV, which the media felt necessary to play repeatedly during the report of the story. My daughter commented on it, at which time I realized that she was in the room, so I quickly turned the TV off and told her that I really don't want her watching the news because it's almost always news about bad things. She voiced her concerns about the fact that someone would do that to another person, and I responded that this is why dad carries a gun everywhere that we go and told her, "Bad stuff like this happens all the time. That's why we pay attention to what is going on around us, so that we can react and get away." It really blows that I have to engage in these conversations with my kids, but we live in a dysfunctional and dying world so I find myself having to be honest with them and explain why we take the precautions that we do. She asked me, "Dad - would you have shot that person?". Looking for assurance that I wouldn't have let it happen to us. Yep, kiddo. I'd have shot that person.
  9. There is no such thing as a safe place in our society. You only have varying scales of risk.
  10. Look ... I honestly don't see much hope for a positive outcome here. Your expectations are unrealistic and the origin of your complaint seems to be a sense of entitlement. I'll be glad to refund your Benefactor status, delete any sale ads that you may have posted, and wish you a happy life somewhere else if you agree that there isn't much chance in TGO satisfying you.
  11. There are too many factors involved in situations like this for us to make a one-size fits all policy to address it. That is why we have buyer/seller feedback as a tool for people on TGO to use. When you post that you are interested in an item, it's normal to expect the seller to at least respond to you - but the fact is that they are under no obligation to do so, and your act of expressing interest in the item does not constitute some sort of contract with them to sell to you. There are plenty of good reasons why either party in a potential transaction might want to back away from the deal, including the right to exercise their personal discretion / gut-instinct if they feel that some part of the transaction is suspicious. I do find it somewhat strange that three different sellers have done this to you, so I would like to know more. Use the feature to report the threads in question so that we can look into it.
  12. There are numerous studies showing that transgendered people are fourfold (or more!) more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety than those who are content to stay within their biological swim lanes. Of course, every good statistician knows that you can use statistics to sell a lie, so there are also studies that chalk the aforementioned depression and anxiety up to the way that transgendered people are treated by the rest of society, and not to the fact that those people suffer from other things that caused them to want to put off their natural gender identity and "become someone else" as an escape or coping mechanism. To me, when we seek to justify aberrant behavior through confirmation bias, we have stopped trying to help someone recover and have become guilty of enabling. This usually is followed by a patchwork of psychotherapy that seeks to ease the pain rather than heal the wound. Treating symptoms versus treating causes. I'm sure these statements will be super unpopular with some people. The truth is pretty offensive at times.
  13. I forgot one more important point: 7. Never get in their car. Never let them get into your car. If it's cold, rainy, sweltering hot or otherwise ####ty weather outside, it should make for a quick transaction. Dr. William Aprill of Aprill Risk Consulting used to say that you had to know ahead of time what lines you weren't going to cross so that you knew when to start fighting. For him, being put into another car or having someone enter his car was where the line was drawn. I agree with him 100%.
  14. Vet them through buyer/seller feedback here on TGO. Never meet after dark, if you can at all avoid it. Always meet at a well populated, well trafficked location. Most police stations and sheriff's departments are perfectly fine with you using their parking lot for this. Some even have designated parking spots FOR online sales handoffs. Discuss with the buyer/selller ahead of time if anyone else will be present so that there are no surprises. GO ARMED. Be ready to use it if you have to. Don't leave it in the car, in the glovebox. Keep it on you. LISTEN TO YOUR GUT INSTINCTS. Be willing to drive away if ANYTHING feels off about the setting or the situation at all. The possibility of resulting negative feedback or hurt feelings are completely inconsequential. Your instincts exist for a reason, so trust them. And one last tactic: I have, in the past, gone to a rendezvous and taken my own backup with me. Another person who I knew I could trust to handle the situation if it went sideways. They were armed and as skilled or more so than I am. I circled the lot and let them out nearby so that they could monitor and quickly respond if things got ugly, but far enough away from the rendezvous point that they weren't easily spotted. Basically, learn to think like a predator. Think like a bad guy. Think about what you would do if you were up to no good, and then think about how to circumvent that.
  15. I've enjoyed the C2 more than I enjoyed my P, and I really liked the P. It was just heavier than I prefer for carry purposes. The grip reduction and stippling on this grip module has allowed me to really say that I love the way the gun feels in my hand, though. While it was a small change in overall circumference, it was enough of a change to make a big difference in my enjoyment of the gun. It will probably prevent me from spending the money on a new CS, actually. I see no reason to anymore.
  16. While my first instinct is to give you a temporary vacation from TGO until you get over this, I'm going to be nice and just give you one warning to let it drop. The choice is yours.
  17. Is this still happening?
  18. Alright here's another submission from me: The FN 509MRD. I no longer own this particular firearm but I would buy another if the opportunity arose. These guns have practically everything that you need in a fighting handgun: Ready for a variety of optics with a good, strong mounting system. Excellent grip texture to maximize control. Grip size is customizable with three different size backstraps. Forward cocking serrations on the slide. Good trigger with good reset. It gets better with use, too. Excellent accuracy thanks to a quality barrel, which is crowned at the muzzle. Glock 19 sized. 15-rd mags. For some reason these don't get much love. FN's marketing isn't the best, but this gun is worth your consideration.
  19. Glad that fixed it!
  20. Brother, if I'd known you were one of them having troubles I'd have just given out my phone number.
  21. @FUJIMO if they're still having troubles, have them send an email to david at tngunowners.com.
  22. I just purged our server's cache so maybe that will fix it. If not, I need to know if they are getting any errors, or what they're seeing exactly.
