  1. Meh. I get it and I am not disagreeing with your sentiment, but let's bear in mind that Modern Samurai Project is teaching their way of doing it. They aren't teaching the only way. What I have found interesting and, so far, true about his way of doing it is that it provides a repeatable grip on a myriad of different guns. He can teach a Glock shooter the same method that he teaches a 1911 shooter. It did feel a little awkward to me the first few times that I tried it, because I was used to aligning my grip via a different set of mechanics and had done so for years. But, once I got over my own preferences and gave it a chance, it actually became my new preferred way of doing it. Really this is like hiring a personal trainer to improve your form when lifting at the gym, or a golf pro to fix your swing. If you allow them to teach you and allow yourself to give their recommendations a try, you might find that it was worth the money. If you discard their advice because it doesn't feel the same as what you've always been doing... guess what. You're not going to get your money's worth and your results will probably be what they've always been.
  2. Natural gas or LP gas? I ask because you might need to change the orifice for the burner and make adjustments to the pressure regulator depending on what your source of gas is and what the heater was set up for. Also it could be a thermocouple issue. Gas water heaters have a thermocouple as a safety mechanism and it controls the feed valve. A bad thermocouple could fail to read the heat from the flame and cause the valve to shut off, for safety. You don't want the valve open without a flame, of course. There are ways to test the thermocouple with a multimeter. Lots of content on YouTube for that.
  3. To each their own I suppose, but you're depriving yourself of good training if that's where your bar for participation is set. It's not necessarily arrogant if you can back it up, first of all. And second, you're seeing a small snippet of his class and not seeing the rapport that was already built with his students by the time the video was recorded. Scott Jedlinksi's classes sell out almost immediately. This isn't a case of "I'm going to treat you like crap as a sales gimmick" like you see with places like Original SOE where the bro culture feeds off of the idea that if you're tough enough to take the abuse you're tough enough to own the product and be part of the club. Scott's classes sell out quickly because he's a good teacher and because people come out of them as better shooters.

  5. If a member is truly detrimental to the community, report them. The moderating staff and I are very aware of how one bad apple can poison the well, and it wouldn't be the first time that we've punted someone for being that bad apple.
  6. Another vote for the KME sharpening system here. I've had mine for 3-4 years now and absolutely love it.
  7. I went to a VERY multi-cultural middle and highschool. The minority of my friends were white like me. Most were "other". We didn't do racism and until I was old enough to get out of my hometown and move to big-city Nashville, I really had no basis for what racism was other than what ignorant people I read about in books or saw on the screen did. Call that pretending if you want, but my "society" as a kid wasn't racist and I grew up in the 70's and 80's.
  8. Green is actually way easier on the eyes, as far as I've seen so far, and saves battery life!
  9. SOLD -- Holosun EPS 2 MOA Green Dot Reflex Sight (EPS-GR-2) Well, I goofed. I wanted to buy the micro-sized EPS Carry version to put on a Sig P365 but I accidentally ordered the version that is about the same size as a Trijicon RMR. Rather than send it back, I assumed that I would find a use for it, but at this point I think I'd rather just let it go and recoup some of my money. This optic is brand new but was mounted ONCE, for a few minutes, on my Shadow Systems MR920. I took it right off and put it back in the box. It has never been carried, never been holstered, and basically never been used. More photos follow at the bottom of this post. 10. Likewise! Glad you're posting!
  11. She was either a friend of someone important or this was a quota hire of some sort and competence wasn't one of the requirements.
  12. This sounds just like something a cat person would say.
  13. You're not wrong, but as I've refined my grip over the years I've noticed that I can slap the trigger all I want and the point of impact stays true with point of aim. A proper grip will keep trigger manipulation of almost any sort from disturbing the point of impact. Years ago I had read something from Rob Latham about this very thing and wrongly assumed that it was Rob being superhuman. Once I got my grip right, I realized that he was just speaking truth. Proper grip fixes almost everything.
  14. Yes, if you are a right-handed shooter you want more squeeze from your support (left) hand. This is more noticeable with a dot optic on your gun, but you can notice even in in dry-firing that if you squeeze more with your dominant (right) hand, your point of impact will shift toward the left when you break the trigger with your finger. If you release some pressure with your dominant hand, your point of impact won't move much or any. When I dry fire, I watch what my dot is doing. If it moves ANY, I know I didn't form my grip properly.
  15. @62caster - This video is worth watching. It takes some reps to get the procedure down, but once you do it's solid and adapts to practically any semi-auto handgun. Bear in mind that that there is some off-color language in this video. If you've got kids around, maybe wait or listen with headphones.
  16. These folks are very much worth supporting. They sue the crap out of the government all the time. Firearms Policy Coalition There's more about them here: About FPC - Firearms Policy Coalition
  17. Something is better than nothing, I suppose, but a belt is a very poor substitute for a legitimate tourniquet. Carrying a CAT or SOF-T tourniquet is recommended. I have low tolerance for the RATS tourniquets even though people I know who should know better still swear by them. Again, something is better than nothing, but the RATS design is as useful/useless as a belt.
  18. For Sale: Holosun 407K-GR-X2 Green Dot Optic I am offering up for sale one Holosun 407K-GR-X2 GREEN DOT optic. This optic is used but in very good condition and is approximately 6-months old. I bought it for use on a Sig P365XL but moved on to a different platform. There are a few very small cosmetic blemishes on the body of the optic. These are clearly called out in the photos that you will find below. They are the natural result of the optic being mounted to a firearm that was carried from time to time. The lens, electronics, emitter, etc. are all in superb condition and the sight works flawlessly and holds zero perfectly. The optic includes everything that it came with from the factory. If it's not shown in the photos, it isn't included. Specifications from Holosun: Source: HE407K-GR X2-Holosun The HE407K-GR X2 is an open reflex optical sight designed for concealed carry pistol applications. The X2 Series pistol optics feature two improvements. First is the addition of Lock Mode from our 2018-2019 LE pistol optic models. Lock Mode, when activated, locks the buttons preventing inadvertent setting changes. Second, the buttons have been redesigned to compliment the Lock Mode by placing them lower and out of the way. Additional features include Holosun’s Super Green LED with up to 50k hours battery life, and Shake Awake. Reticle: 6 MOA Dot Reticle Color: Green Parallax Free: Yes Magnification: 1x Power Source: Battery Battery Type: CR1632 Battery Life (Hours): 50000 Brightness Setting: 10 DL (Daylight) & 2 NV (Night Vision) Window Size (in): 0.58x0.77 Dimension (in) 1.6x0.98x0.95 Weight (oz): 1 Housing Material: 7075 T6 Aluminum Surface Finish: Anodize Adjustment per Click: 1 MOA Submersion: IP67 Terms of Sale: PRICE: $175.00 shipped to you in the lower 48 US States. If you are in AK or HI, you will need to pay actual shipping costs. Payment must be in the form of PayPal Goods & Services. I am not available to meet you in person to sell this. Sorry. Too busy. More Photos! Here are more photos of the actual optic. Again, I have clearly called out the blemishes on the aluminum body. This optic is very tiny, so these marks are also VERY tiny. If it's not circled in red, it's not a blem - it's dust.
  19. Most things worth doing aren't easy. An incoming chief will have to fix this the old-fashioned way: hard work.
  20. After watching the video, and lacking any additional evidence that might not be disclosed yet, my opinion is that the police officers who beat this man to death should face the death penalty and that their date with the executioner should not be delayed any more than is necessary. Officers who didn't contribute to his injuries but neglected to stop the others who were beating him should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I didn't agree with the way that the public reacted to most of the things that occurred over the past 2-3 years, but on this one I think that the public is justified in burning the Memphis Police Department to the ground. Figuratively and literally.
  21. John Harris at the TFA posted this blog entry today. It's an interesting read. Memphis police conduct and the law of self-defense - Tennessee Firearms Association Frankly, I have a feeling that a citizen who rightfully used deadly force to defend himself or herself from police officers would probably not live long enough to make it to the hospital. Multiple, armed, assailants wearing body armor and beating your ass does not present a scenario where the odds are in your favor. I find it more than a little ironic that a citizen wearing body armor during the commission of a crime receives additional charges because of the armor. I wonder, does that apply to the police as well?
  22. Nah. The only thing we don't appreciate is when people come here and carpet bomb us with promotions for fledgling sites, trying to seed the ground. Pistol-Forum is well established, just like AR15.com, Arfcom, etc. but with perhaps a higher degree of quality content for the practical shooter.
  23. The thread in question is over on Pistol-Forum.com. If y'all aren't already members there, you're missing out on some excellent information in general. PF was started quite some time ago by a gentleman named Todd Louis Green. Todd unfortunately passed away a few years ago, but PF continues on thanks to the dedication of others.
  24. Good video! I'm a little shocked that she went there with the commentary about Glocks while talking to another vendor... but he took it in stride.
