What's the deal with TN Firearms Association?
TGO David replied to ron86654's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Look, what I am seeing here is failure to comprehend what was written so let's take this from another angle: SHOW ME WHERE HE INSULTED YOU. I've read it several times and nowhere in there does he make a statement that seems like it was designed to insult or offend you. I see a point where he makes the statement "If you do not have at least five meetings scheduled with legislators at LP tomorrow, you are talking, not doing." but in this case the word YOU seems to be used in the first-person. That is the only area what I see what what he said might be misconstrued, and even that shouldn't trip up anyone who has ever written a first-person narrative before. So back to my last challenge, show me where he insulted you in his post. I maintain that you completely misunderstood the point of his post the same way you went straight to a literal interpretation of my statement about being slapped with a glove. While you're doing that, I can show you where what YOU (not used in the first-person, mind you) absolutely intended to offend him with your response. Hell, it offended me for him. -

I think you REALLY missed the point of his post. What I got from it is it's a tiring, grueling, thankless task where you are up against overwhelming odds all the time. Maybe you missed the part where he said he does this using time-off from work when his family would rather they be taking vacations. Honestly, very rarely do I read things on TGO that make me wish we were still in an age where we could remove a glove, slap another man across the face with it, and demand that an apology be issued for their transgression. You unlocked that achievement with that post. -
It's very unAmerican not to own a 1911. Congratulations on joining the Society of 1911 Owners. :)

No but I've been seriously eyeballing the Gen 4 Glock 20. -

Over-penetration is most certainly a concern with this stuff but the 10mm cartridge was one of the first things I thought of after watching the ISIS shitbags shoot up Paris while wearing body armor a few weeks ago. -
Apple Mac users with Retina displays should notice an improvement with the look of the header and the menu tabs across the top of the screen. Specifically, the header now resizes dynamically and does not screw up the alignment of the menu tabs now if you view the page at 100% zoom in your web browser.

2nd. Amendment Tax Free Holiday in Tennessee.
TGO David replied to K191145's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You know, it's a nice thought and all... and I certainly support the notion of less taxation... but I have to wonder what better use of his time there might have been than filing a proposal that we all know good and well won't get passed. How about spending more time on Pro 2A legislation that will actually make a difference? This just seems like an empty token gesture to me. We need Pro 2A legislation that will benefit our state for generations to come, not novelty legislation that matters for one day a year and saves someone $50 on a $500 handgun. -
The Welcome To The Party poster is comedy gold.

HOLY COW!!!! If I'd have noticed that, I'd have shut the TV off right then too! Might have even thrown it out of the house!!! Not really. :)

Meh. It was a great mini-series. It wasn't 100% accurate and they compressed a lot of history into three days, but it still pointed out that this country was birthed by hellraisers and beer drinkers. I'm rather proud of that aspect of our history. We have a long tradition of bucking tyranny and our current administration would be well served to remember that. If Sons of Liberty inspires a renewed interest in our nation's history among young people (or people in general) then that's a good thing. We live in a day when we really could use a reminder of where we came from.

Knowledge, experience and ability are valuable commodities. Most everyone knows how to hold a knife and cut something with it. It takes a specialist to use those common abilities to perform heart surgery.

I'm just getting online for the first time today. Hope all is well.

Coyote Rifleworks trust- Too good to be true?
TGO David replied to KKing's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Ron, it sounds like you've made up your mind. Honestly as far as you and your trust are concerned, I really don't care. Seriously. The Coyote trust might be 100% correct for a Tennessee resident and there might be no difference at all between it and what a Tennessee lawyer specializing in NFA trusts could put together for you. Awesome. What I do care about is the people who will come along behind you on TGO, read this thread, and potentially follow along in your footsteps and end up with something that might not protect them from the BATFE and the State of Tennessee. Because as I and others have tried to point out, somewhat unsuccessfully it would seem, is that sometimes the little bit more you will pay for a custom-tailored solution is worth exponentially more in the long run. Ron, you could in all honesty go order all of the parts you needs to build a short barrel AR-15 right now, assemble it, never file a Form 4 and roll the dice. That's even cheaper than doing a mail-order trust! It's illegal as can be, but you can still do it. So long as no one ever sees it and you never talk about it on the Internet, you might just get away without having to pay for a trust or a tax stamp and can admire the frugality of it all in silent secrecy. After all, anyone can order sub 16" barrels all day long and you don't even have to transfer them through an FFL. They aren't serialized. The only thing stopping you or anyone else from doing that is fear of incarceration. But the moment the existence of that unlicensed NFA firearm is revealed to anyone else, voluntarily or otherwise, the gig will be up and you will be charged with felony possession of a restricted firearm. And that'll be the end of that. Which is precisely what could happen to you if the trust you use isn't completely legitimate in Tennessee. So, do whatever you want, Ron. But anyone else who reads this thread... Caveat Emptor. There are many famous examples of just how little the BATFE plays around about this stuff. -

If you don't have the money to do a trust the safe way, do you have the money to keep yourself out of prison if it turns out your trust wasn't worth the paper it was written on? -
Recording it. Hope to watch it tomorrow.
