  1. Huh... it appears the link is dead.  I'll find it again and post another copy.
  2. I read that on the NFA org's facebook page earlier and am still trying to figure out how he managed to do that.
  3. One final suggestion on sights.  These are exactly what I run on my Colt 1911 and I don't think even Stevie Wonder could miss seeing the front sight on it.  :)   https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=CA128O   The cheapest place I could find them online was OpticsPlanet.com and if you Google around a bit you can usually find a coupon code that will knock some off the cost.  Those SHOULD fit without any filing.
  4. Also, Heinie makes some sights that should work with it...   Ledge style with pronounced hook for compromised slide manipulation http://www.heinie.com/361tl-ultra-low-mount-ledge-rear-sight-black/   Snagless style http://www.heinie.com/365p-ultra-low-mount-slantpro-rear-sight-w-tritium-dot/   And they've got a multitude of front sights. http://www.heinie.com/front-sights/     Just bear in mind with all of this that you're very likely going to need the assistance of a skilled gunsmith.  I'm sure the members can make some recommendations for you.
  5. Yep that will do. The PX9109LP is just the standard 5" Loaded Parkerized model. It looks like this, right? That model should use the Novak "Low Mount" sights so you are in relatively good shape. I'd look at the 10-8 Performance rear sight and then pair it up with either an orange-outlined Tritium front sight of the appropriate height from someone like Trijicon if you want to retain night sight capability, or if you're set on it primarily being a range toy maybe just pair it up with a 10-8 Performance front sight with either the brass bead or the fiber optic insert.
  6. Egh... well there's good news and bad news.  First we're still not quite narrowed down to what Springfield you have.  There is the Loaded Operator, the Loaded Champion, the Loaded MC Operator and about four others.  You really need to give us the model number or something.   The good news is that quite a few companies make sights that will fit the Springfield Loaded family of 1911's.  The bad news is that Springfield is notorious for using several different heights of sights even in the same models, so you really need to measure yours to know what height you need.   Furthermore, the last Springfield Loaded that I had and put sights on, the sights took a lot of filing in order to make them fit right.
  7.   Yep.  That was me in the khaki TGO hat with the VP9, with my wife.  We were just there to wring it out a little.
  8.   You don't want this funk that I've got.  :)
  9.   Is it just the Springfield Armory GI model or is it one of the others?  Specifically which one?  I ask because they have various sight cuts in the slides, so I want to actually recommend something to you.
  10. What manufacturer is your 1911?  You might want to try a rear sight that doesn't have any dots at all, or a single dot beneath the notch... and a U-shaped notch.
  11. If your wife and son won't be with you on Saturday at the convention, they might really enjoy the Adventure Science Center.  It's only a short drive away.
  12.   Seems to be working out well for them.
  13. Yep - been under the weather and just not on the forum the past two days.  I'll shoot over some info tonight or tomorrow; playing catch-up right now.
  14. Hah... I shot next to you on Sunday.  :)
  15.   ^^^ This... is funny.
  16. Great post about great folks.  Congrats to you both!
  17. Is it true that most Crown Vic owners like this buy their cars because they've had so much experience riding around in the back of one in cuffs?  :)
  18. Welcome aboard.
  19.   She can find work elsewhere.  These are people's kids that she is playing Cesar with.  There is no margin for error there.
  20. I believe you're able to walk dogs at the Lee Victory park on Sam Ridley Pkwy.   For BBQ, hit up Bob's BBQ on Enon Springs Drive.  Get a pulled pork BBQ sandwich or two, or their loaded baked potato.  Get it to go and then eat it at the Smyrna Library just down the road also on Enon Springs, outside on the benches near the fountain.  Dogs should be welcome there as well.   Or head the other direct on Enon Springs and visit the Gregory Mills Park which has a nice creek area that your dogs could splash around in while you eat your BBQ.  Be warned that as long as there's been rain lately, the water should be flowing and fresh.  If it hasn't, the water will be stagnant and tepid.   For Preds gear, definitely just visit the Bridgestone Area pro-shop.   Antique Archeology is skip-able in my opinion.  We went once.  It wasn't worth the hassle.  Very overpriced and generally speaking you're going to stand in line outside the place waiting to get in.  If you do and you end up standing in line, visit Garage Coffee Company also in the Marathon Motors building.

    HK VP9

I installed Trijicon HD's on my VP9 with my MGW Sight Pro.  Easy peasy.
  22. I don't know what their requirements are as far as how likely others are to request a certain "shoe" or not, but they say that if you're willing to send them your slide, they will machine a shoe for that make and model and then send you one for free as a thank you.

    HK VP9

P30 and VP9 mags are the same mag.  No difference in part number.  If you find P30 mags, you've found VP9 mags.  :)
  24. Myself, the missus, and MacGyver will be there with Media Passes to cover the excitement.  :)
  25. No, the mags are usually between $38-45 a piece for the 15rd variety.  Gougers are taking advantage of the popularity of the VP9 and the market shortage of mags to rape the buying public.
