  1. Honestly until a conversation I was in yesterday brought them back to mind, I had sort of forgotten that they were over there.  After one of my favorite local gun-shop staffers left On-Target a while back, the overall customer experience seemed to go downhill for me and others I had spoken with at the time.   I'm glad to hear that they are turning things around.  We need more gun shops; not fewer.
  2.   Gotcha!  Chances are you're registered.  :)
  3. Want to make some scratch? Cheese? Coin? Loot? Dollar bills? Ever fancy yourself a bounty hunter? :) Websites like TGO need advertisers to stay afloat, let alone grow bigger and better and make it possible to do cooler things. To date we've been fortunate -- blessed even -- to have our advertisers find us. We've never had to go hunting for them, and honestly I've never really wanted to. I just don't like selling. I'm not a "sales guy" and I hate cold-calling. But recently I had a member approach me with a prospective advertiser and asked if I'd hook them up. So I did. And I also felt like I owed that member something in return... so I did something for that person too. Which brought to mind an idea: Pretty much everyone here has their list of favorite shops to do business with. But how many of those favorite shops support your favorite local forum by advertising with us? All of them? Some of them? None of them? Could you maybe help us by convincing them to sign on with us? Because if you can, and they tell me that YOU are the reason they signed on as an advertiser, I'll gladly kick a commission payment your way. :) So, what's the motivation? I'll make no bones about this: I'd like to eventually quit working for the man Monday - Friday and make TGO something of a full time job. I'd love nothing more than to work on new features, new content, videos, blogs, reviews, etc. all for the TGO community. But in order for that to happen, we need more advertisers and I'd be glad to share some of our increased success with anyone who helps get us there. If you are instrumental in helping bring a new advertiser on board, I owe you a debt of gratitude and I'd like to put some money back in your pocket to say thanks. Let's talk! For details, contact me privately.

  4. Found this online...     So it sounds like Tennessee just "does it for" 18-year olds now.   But this thread seriously makes me sad that a person can reach adulthood and not know what Selective Service is.  What the hell do they teach in schools these days?  Is Civics no longer part of the curriculum?
  5. The student loan has to be gov't backed in order for it to bump if you didn't sign up for Selective Service.  Pell Grant, etc.
  6.   Agreed - I was hoping more people would "find me" there but the hat really isn't enough of a give-away.  The NRA show and the desire among the members to be more recognizable to each other has renewed my interest in getting more hats and polo shirts made for the TGO membership who want them.  T-shirts might be a possibility as well now that services like SpreadShirt and others are producing better quality gear.   Their stuff used to be really substandard.
  7. It was back in the 80's when I registered with Selective Service.  They sent me a postcard in the mail ahead of my 18th birthday.  *shrug*
  8.   Well, you can't win them all but you had a good streak going.
  9.   Never saw her at the PSA booth; just some dudes.
  10. I got to handle the one at the NRAAM show this past weekend.  Like others have said, it points very naturally and balances well.  The TP9sa does feel better in the hand than the original TP9 did.  Also, the fit and finish is actually quite good, but they might have brought a ringer to the show.  I'd want to see what they look like in gun stores when the manufacturer reps didn't get to cherry-pick what was on display.    Price is where this thing is going to excel.  There really aren't any great alternatives in the price range the Canik plays within (IMO) if you don't want to shop used, so I can see it having a good run at the market.   What bothers me, though, is the de-cocking system on a striker fired handgun.  With a DA/SA firearm having an exposed hammer, it makes more sense because in order to re-cock the gun you either pull the trigger all the way through the heavy DA cycle, or you thumb the hammer back and enjoy the lighter SA cycle.  With a striker fired weapon, the only way to re-cock is to rack the slide again, in which case you have ejected and wasted a round of ammunition.  The whole thing seems like an answer in search of a question that should have remained hypothetical.
  11. Still have my card also.  I remember going to the USPS to sign up and the old gentleman who took care of the gov't side of it for me came out from around the counter to shake my hand.  It seemed a little odd to me at the time but I was grateful for his praise, but looking back now I realize that he loved our country as much as I do and was essentially welcoming me to being an adult male constituent of these United States.   I'll never forget that.
  12. Check out "Special Kids" in Murfreesboro.  They're a fantastic organization and it's a life changing experience.
  13. Agreed on the Sig MCX.  I could see owning one of those.
  14.   Probably on Armslist.  :D
  15. I am finally upright and mobile after two weeks with a NASTY viral respiratory infection.  The past three days I just slept... had to recoup my strength.   I'll be wearing my kahki TGO hat with color logo on it, kahki shorts, black polo and will be there with my wife and daughter.  I'll also have a stack of TGO decals with me.  If you find me and tell me who you are on the forum, I'll give you one.   :)
  16. Drinking my coffee and having breakfast.  Hoping to be there in another hour or so.
  17. No booth.  No swag.  Definitely no freebies.  I wish we were baller enough for that.  Maybe in 2016.
  18. Sorry that work sucked so bad this week.  We've got to get a handle on that somehow.  I've been doing a lot of thinking during my "sick time".   I slept a ton yesterday and slept most of the day away today.  My body finally overrode my brain and shut everything down.  Hopefully I'm back in good enough shape tomorrow to peruse the show.
  19. I doubt anyone purchased anything just to see Sarah Palin.
  20.   Have fun.  I won't be there til tomorrow; still recovering.
  21. I have those as well as an ExpoDisc filter for my camera. It's a toss-up to which is easier or better, but both really provide excellent white balance.
  22. I highly suspect "Concealed is concealed" will be an unofficial approach by many this week. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk
  23. Joe it's pretty much the same Form. The old one is gone. This was the nicest one I found to replace it with. Sent from my GT-N5110 using Tapatalk
  24. I'll carry a backpack with a notepad and pen, maybe a smart tablet.  Definitely will have my camera but probably not the enormous DSLR.  I've learned my lesson carrying that giant thing around before.  I'll start off on Friday with a small camera and go back with the DSLR on Saturday if I think something needed a better shot.   The key to these events is to travel light and wear good shoes.
