A guy on another forum received a test and evaluation copy and posted this review: [...BEGIN COPY AND PASTE...] I had a FDE P10C arrive today. Here my initial impressions Ok so a brief rundown, I really, really, like this thing. I have handled a ton of striker pistols over the past several years, and this one has really blown me away. It is virtually the same size as my 19, with the backstrap and slide being only slightly longer. The back strap being longer is a good thing, IMO, it fills my palm perfectly. That solves the gripe I have about the g19 grip and it being a tad to abbreviated for me. I can shoot it just fine, but much prefer the extended grip. The slide being slightly longer isn't a big deal either, as the added length is in the rear of the P10, and sits over the web of the hand. This no doubt attributes to the reported flat shooting characteristics of the P10. Again the difference isn't much between the P10 and 19, and will be un noticeable when carrying. The overall feel of the P10 is something that you will have to try. It is the most naturally feeling handgun I have held, it feels a bit like the VP9, or P30 grip. The texturing on the front and back straps is aggressive, and some will likely find it a bit too much.. This is easily remedied with some fine sandpaper and lightly rubbing it over the texture. I personally like it, and IMO it's nice to have something that is excessive for some, but can be fixed easily, rather than something with out enough grip. The grip itself is quite thin, and it feels it, and that's a good thing. I honestly can't see anyone not liking the way this gun feels. When I present the pistol using a two handed grip with my eyes closed, the sights are on target every time. The internals on the P10 look seriously over engineered. Everything you can see looks like it was built for a tank, not a handgun. The trigger bar, and sear is one complete piece, much like the glock. The trigger bars moves rearward, and it reaches a point where it hits a ledge and is pushed down releasing the striker. Yes it function like a glock as the striker is only partially cocked when the slide cycles. Pulling the trigger completes the firing cycle. The take up on the trigger is light, and just from dry firing has smooth out considerably since I first tried it. They have achieved this light take up by using dual trigger return springs. From what I can tell as Randy Lee of Apex stated, it appears the trigger weight can be lowered or raised by replacing those two springs. Personally I find the trigger pull perfect. It actually doesn't feel as light as the PPQ, but the break is much cleaner. Again this pistol is new and hasn't been shot. I suspect it will improve with shooting, although I like it as is. There is no overtravel at all, and that lends itself to the front sight staying perfectly still when the striker releases. The reset on this thing is ridiculous. It is the shortest reset I have seen on a striker gun. It is very glock like, very audible and tactile. If you like Glock triggers, your going to love this trigger, hands down. The pistol feels very well put together. Nothing rattles, no excessive play anywhere, fitment is very glock like. There are no machine marks anywhere on the slide, inside or out. The finish is very uniformed and dark black. I'm going to try and go out and shoot it a bit tomorrow so I can comment on accuracy, function, and how it tracks with recoil. (I'll give a range report once I shoot it.) At this point I can honestly say if the P10 is reliable, and as accurate as has been reported, this very well may replace my Glock. I have for a long time jotted down ideas about what I would want in a striker pistol. The P10 is very close to my ideal striker pistol. I can honestly say I can't think of a single thing on here I would change. The only complaint I HAD was the magazine release was a bit difficult, but has smoothed out nicely and is very easy to use now. Is the P10 a Glock killer?...it is not likely to kill glock anytime soon, but it could likely cut into glocks market place. I know glock has a huge aftermarket, but there isn't anything the P10 needs other than maybe a set of night sights, and good duty holsters. That being said, if CZ can keep up with demand, and can get these out to more LE departments, they may just give glock a reason to step up their R&D. The P10 stands poised to at least take a bite out of the striker pie, and it may take a big piece. CZ did exactly what I suspected they set out to do....built a better Glock. There is no doubt after handling the P10 that CZ used the Glock as their starting point, and improved on it. Several officers handled the P10 here today and everyone of them said it "feels like a Glock, but better" and "where can I get one of those triggers". Only time will tell how it will do long term, but CZ has a pretty good record overall and I see no reason why the P10 will fall short on anything.

Finally a black model states-side.

I have made an adjustment to the CSS to slightly enlarge the font used. It's just larger enough now that I find it a lot easier on the eyes. Hopefully you all do as well.

Shopping malls, in general, are having to find new ways to re-invent themselves and remain relevant to the consumer, especially now that Amazon is making serious strides in same-day and next-day delivery for so many items. Sears is a relic of ages past and has failed to keep up with evolving trends. It's very sad to see them divesting themselves of the Craftsman line, and you could make a very safe bet that Sears won't be around in 2-3 years since this was arguably their largest cash-cow. In the 70's and early 80's, the Sears in my hometown was still a stand-alone store near the downtown shopping district. When the small shopping mall on the south side of town closed and the big modern mall opened on the west side of town, not only did Sears move to become an anchor store but the whole of the downtown shopping district either moved as well or just simply went out of business. Now we are seeing the next wave of evolution for retail shopping, and the malls themselves are at great risk of drying up and going away. Consumers either want to be able to shop from the convenience of home and receive their items same/next-day, or they want to be able to once again walk through open air shopping plazas (the modern twist on a downtown shopping district). But, I digress! I've been buying Kobalt, Husky and Rigid tools for the past 10-15 years and only occasionally went to Sears to pick up a new Craftsman tool or replace an older broken one. I have a slew of classic Craftsman tools made in the USA that I inherited from my dad and grandfather, and never have a problem out of them. It's sad to think, though, that when one of them does break I will have to replace it with a Chinese-made Craftsman. The only thing constant is change, I guess.

Yes, of course. If you have photos and most importantly serial numbers, perhaps folks here will be on the lookout for them.

FWIW, the 5-inch model is the only one that has the loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide. I have reason to believe that it is on the 5-inch FDE model simply because it was a requirement from the military when they had a Request For Proposals out to the various manufacturers and this was Smith & Wesson's hat in the ring. The 4-inch versions do not have it.

Not that I've ever seen. My Gen 3 has pig-nose and it's just fine.
-
Some Glocks suffered from what is called "pig nose" because of the flexibility of the frame up near the end of the dust cover. A quick Google search is all you need to see a lot of examples of it.
-
I'm stumped as I cannot seem to replicate that behavior.

I was just able to successfully add this photo to the gallery from my iPhone. What phone are you using?

I'm wondering where the "Like" button has gone?

This issue has been resolved. -
I didn't know anyone was taking orders for them yet. Who'd you get to order one? That's great!
-
The link to mark the site as read has been added back to the top of the screen. Will evaluate the other requests for my ability to add them easily and without breaking other things.
-
Photo too large?

Be sure to check out our new TGO Photo Gallery while you are visiting today! You can find it under the "Browse" and the "More" menu links at the top of the forum pages, or by heading straight to the gallery via this link: https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gallery/

Yeah, a little. But people will actually buy this one.
-
Hahaha glad this is better for you guys.

Sorry for the rapid succession of changes, folks. I am trying to make sure that we have something that is feature-complete and workable for the majority. I promise the changes to the appearance of the site will settle down.
-
Yep, no dice on it being modular but S&W did extend the stainless skeleton inside of the frame to the front of the dust cover which is why those serial number elements are visible through the polymer frame up near the front of the gun. It was an interesting thought!

You know my answer to that one.

I was telling the AO Boss about this earlier and she was greatly saddened by it.

Darker should have been disabled as it's not been updated to accommodate the new version of the software. Sorry. I just disabled it until I can go through it and work on updating things within it.
-
Yeah I noticed that also. I'll have to figure out why it's happening and resolve it. Probably a glitch in my CSS.

I have upgraded us to the latest IPBoard version and with it comes several new features and also the requirement to re-index all of our posts and threads. Re-indexing is underway now but will take several hours to complete. Until it does complete, your ability to accurately search for specific content or get a full listing of new content will likely be impacted somewhat. One of the obvious new features is the "Leaderboard" that you will see in the top menu. Check it out and let me know what you think. It's kind of fun. Another change for now is that we are running a lightly customized appearance theme that I wrote. It is not as good as some of the full-custom stuff that we have used in the past, but it also upgrades far easier whenever new versions of the software come out. I will continue to tweak it in the days ahead. I do not have a "dark" version of it yet. This is on my list of things to try to get done, but it is lower in priority than a few other things. Sorry. Hopefully those of you who prefer a darker appearance to the forum can adjust the brightness on your monitors.

Some Upcoming TGO Improvements and Changes (January 2017)
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
Old school 1990's IRC user right here. That said, IRC is seriously the wild wild west. We'd have to lock down that channel pretty tightly and put a good bot in charge of it, otherwise you could quickly see it overrun by some of the most illegal, vile stuff on the planet. I've considered Slack as an option but there's a pretty impressive option being coded by a reputable IPB add-ons author and I'm watching to see how it develops. Honestly, I can sort of see where the Invision Power team is coming from in respect to the [lack of] popularity of the Chat feature. On average there are 2-3 people using it in the evening on TGO. I think the most I have seen in recent memory was 12 and that was around the time of one of the Presidential debates. It really doesn't get a whole lot of use here, and if we are typical as an IPB customer, it isn't getting a whole lot of use anywhere else either. I'll keep looking for a replacement since we've got some time left to search.
