for-sale Bcm 14.5 BFH Enhanced Light Weight AR-15
TGO David replied to Tavalin90's topic in Firearms Classifieds
Guys, in response to several comments that I have received from members of TGO, I corresponded with @Tavalin90 and this is his personally owned firearm. He is not selling this on behalf of a gun store, but he does work at a gun store -

You just outted yourself, player. Could have kept quiet and only two of you would have known that DJTC45 was talking about you. Now we all know. Don't be such a drama llama. -
I think this just pushed me over the edge to buy one. I have been eyeballing them as a way to introduce my kids to handguns as they get older.

I have almost ordered one three times today. Right now I'm resisting.

The P320 has pretty much answered this question for all of us. Chassis systems allow one serialized part. If you live where gun registries and ownership quotas are enforced, you can own one "gun" with sundry different slides and grip modules. If you like experimenting with your ####, chassis systems are the "Build a Bear" of the gun world. Buy multiple slides, grip modules, etc. for different configurations for a lot less money than buying multiple guns. Dog chewed up your grip? Had the bright idea to bubba-up your grip with a soldering iron and a hot idea for a homebrew stipple job? Paid someone to do that because you're an even bigger moron? Pay $60 for a new grip module and call it a day. Whamo Toys just released a new bullpup design "pistol" and all you need to make it run is your serialized fire control unit? Hot damn! Hope you have one! Bummer if you own a Glock. Want to run a 17-rd full size gun for fun at the range or multi-day training classes, but want to carry a 15-rd version of the gun for EDC purposes? Sure is nice to just be able to swap the grip module and magazines. Like to color coordinate your gun with your underwear? Well, if you're a woman that's probably socially acceptable and you can do it for cheap with interchangeable grip modules. If you're a dude and you like Glocks, you're going to need to buy another G42 and have it Cerekoted Tiffany Blue, you weirdo. I could go on, but seriously it's not hard to see why this is an idea whose time has come.

Yes.

I'm going to be more than a little surprised if Sig doesn't sue them for the COG design. It looks so damned similar to the P320's FCG that even the dimensions of the bends in the metal chassis look like they are a near perfect match. It still blows my mind that Glock, the manufacturer of the preeminent polymer pistol, hasn't adopted a chassis model yet. They have literally been left in the dust by Sig in this regard. Well, and now Springfield and HS Produkt. Maybe the Glock Gen 12 will adopt it.

I paid around $50 extra to have my last modified Glock slide melonited. Worth it.
-
You didn't look very hard, I guess.

I'm pretty intrigued by it. They did a lot of things right with the design. Now I need to see if their execution of the design is as good as the design itself. If they pulled it off, this could be a legitimate evolutionary step for the modern striker fired handgun.

KG Gun Kote is nice but it's still just a surface coating. Salt-bath nitriding (Meloniting) is significantly different in that it is affects the molecular composition of the surface layer of the steel by diffusing nitrogen and carbon into it, hardening the surface of the metal and protecting it against wear and corrosion. Understanding MELONIZING & The Salt Bath Nitriding Process (northeastcoating.com) I stand by my belief that coatings are just that: Coatings. If you want to protect the gun from corrosion, a nitrocarburized finish is superior.

I'm not aware of anyone in Tennessee that does enough of these at a high enough level of quality that I would trust my gun to them. Why not ask Wilson Combat if they have any recommendations for an alternate? They surely are aware of companies that can do this up to their level of standards (or better). Also, don't skimp on having the slide re-coated once it is milled. Shops that just use cold bluing or spritz some Cerakote on the cut are just doing the bare minimum and the cut will eventually corrode. Personally, I won't use a shop that doesn't send the slide out for a Melonite / salt-bath nitride finish. Like you said, this is an expensive gun. Don't ruin it by being impatient.

That P320 is gorgeous. Good luck with your sale!

I have a P320 XCarry Pro with a thousand or so rounds through it. Knock on wood, no problems to date. The sights on the slide are their X-Ray variant and have stayed where they belong. I expect to have to replace them at some point simply because on every Sig that I have owned, the sights begin to rust with handling and exposure to sweat. Unless these sights were treated with a salt-nitride bath coating like Melonite and were instead just blued like most are, they'll eventually start to rust. The Romeo-1 Pro optic that this gun came with promptly went back into the box and I instead installed a Holosun 509T enclosed emitter optic mounted on a CHPWS adapter plate. So far, so good. I have heard absolutely incredible, raving reviews of the new Sig Romeo 2 Pro optic, though. If I can find one for less than $600, I may give it a whirl. Glad to hear that Sig has taken care of you!

OLight couldn't make a clunkier light unless they started using 1980's Soviet technology. Those lights are HUGE pieces of junk. Yeah, that will ruffle feathers but I care about you so I'm going to tell you it's crap. For concealed carry I run Streamlight TLR-7A lights because any lumens are better than no lumens. I also carry one of my handheld Cloud Defensive MCH lights to augment the TLR7A. I do have a few Surefire X300-U/B lights if I want to tote something around that has more lumens, but these suck for concealed carry, in my opinion, and are better for OWB / duty carry. My use for those lights is pretty slim.

Be Aware: An organization based out of Ohio has initiated a fear-based money grabbing campaign in the state of Tennessee, using the attached mailing, under the auspices of resisting Governor Bill Lee's Red Flag laws and is misleading the public by using the Tennessee Gun Owners name as their own. THEY ARE NOT US. We take offense at this and are investigating our legal options for shutting that entity down. In the meantime, please understand that TGO is not a lobbying organization and has never advertised itself as such. Any email or letter that you receive from someone purporting to be "Tennessee Gun Owners" and asking you to financially support their activism efforts is not us. They do not represent us, and we absolutely do not endorse them. John Harris, executive director at the Tennessee Firearms Association summarized the activities of these carpetbaggers best: If you are interested in supporting a legitimate ally of the Second Amendment with effective Pro-2A activism in Tennessee, we heartily endorse and recommend the Tennessee Firearms Association. You can establish or renew membership with them at the following link. Join or Renew in TFA - Tennessee Firearms Association Sample of the misleading letter being sent by these imposters:

When the DWX was first announced, I was pretty excited about it. It happened around the same time that STI rebranded as Staccato and released the first Staccato P. The DWX was supposed to come with an optic cut. They sadly did away with that. They also lost a lot of ground by being super slow to market. Still, I'll be interested in seeing what you think of it.

I have yet to see the letter or email that they are sending out. Can I get a copy from someone here?

NO. We have buyer and seller feedback for a reason. That is where this stuff belongs. We're not going to clutter the forum by dragging people when they back out of a sale or a purchase. We'll let the feedback system work. When a scammer strikes, we'll ban them permanently and even cooperate with law enforcement. But there are a myriad of reasons why a sale might fall through, and some of them are legitimate. I've even told people here, publicly, to back out of a sale or a purchase if they felt that their personal safety was at risk. So, NO... we're not going to lynch people publicly. For Pete's sake. I'm closing this thread.
