  1. Thanks. I was just glad that I didn't screw it up.
  2. Dolomite, thanks for the tips. Rustyshakelford, thanks for the offer to use the correct stuff, it was very kind but I went ahead and just gave it a try using stuff I had around the house. My thought was if it didn't work well enough I might take you up on your offer. It turned out well enough for me at this stage. I just trimmed and used a round file to get the shape. Wet the area a little and then used the barrel of a pen to burnish it until it was very smooth and hard. Then I used one of my wife's brown craft markers. I'm going to run it this way for a while to see if the edge stays smooth and hard. Rustyshakelford, if it doesn't I'll give you a shout. Before shot showing the area around the grip that was in the way to get a good grip. After shot Shot of the inside
  3. I've got a IWB holster for a J Frame and I need to do some slight trimming around the grip/back of the trigger guard area to get a little better initial "grip" on the handle prior to the draw. I only need to trim around an 1/8" or so in a very small section. My question is, what do you guys use on the edges of the holster to make it so smooth and seal it/make it hard? The holster in question is tan and the edges are a very dark brown color. If I cut on it I'd like to make the edge of the leather look like the original smooth edge or at least close. Is this possible? Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated since I don't know anything about working with leather.
  4. If you haven't already checked, some car insurance carriers cover slashed tires under their comprehensive coverage.
  5. Yep. The saying attributed to Ben Franklin says it well, “Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.â€
  6. And the problem is ....?
  7. Nah, you can tell by his mugshot that he looks sorry he did it. Also don't worry, when he gets out he won't be able to obtain a gun because the law says he can't.

    Hello

Stay safe. Shoot me a PM when you get back if you want get in some bike time.
  9. It appears the discussion posts in the various Groups have vanished. I've checked several Groups on two different computers and see the same thing...nothing other than the members of the Group.
  10. The M&P is a fine weapon. I've got the full size .40 and really like it. Also thinking about maybe picking up a compact version at some point.
  11. Hip carry can also suck if driving. While ankle carry has its disadvantages if trying to deploy while standing, it is actually very handy when driving and if you plan on being seated quite a lot such as church. Also if by chance you end up on the ground on your back, it can be helpful as well. So to say ankle carry is the most "untactical" place to carry is being close minded. I will add that if my J-Frame is on my ankle, there's usually another gun on me somewhere.
  12. I wondered the same thing. Also, why would he have her drive back to the mall before making her get out? Why return to the scene of the original crime to ditch her?
  13. As others have said, I think you are trying too hard on controlling the OAL. If you're within 0.005" let it go. Forget trimming brass. As long as the rounds check out okay in something like this you're good to go. Max Cartridge Gage 380 ACP
  14. Not a tri-rail but I can recommend this light mount. It's very rugged. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/59422-870-hd-shotgun-elzetta-light-mount.html
  15. Nice looking rig.
  16. I would agree. I was amazed how easy it was to rack. Handled one while we were looking a guns for my daughter. Will Carry - have you had her try all the normal procedures that are helpful for some women to use for racking the slide? (Sometimes technique trumps strength.) If so, have you had her try switching hands? My Dad found that using his weak hand to hold the grip and racking with his strong hand helped. Not the best option but would work in an emergency.
  17. Nevermind, Garufa beat me to it.
  18. Not sure if you've found this SKS forum yet or not. It's got some good SKS info. Survivor's SKS Boards - Index
  19. If you think you will only keep it a short time, I'd be tempted to go with the Norinco. If you plan on keeping it long term, I'd go with the Russian, it's the real deal.
  20. Go with a Saiga for sure.
  21. It really changes the looks for the better. Nice.
