I know we've had server problems and all that... but...
Trekbike replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Glad it's running faster for you guys but mine is still running a lot slower than it used to before the server issues so I don't know what's still up. It's slow on both Chrome and IE. -

respectable 2A journalism by Demoines Register (Gannett)
Trekbike replied to R_Bert's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Here's a link to one of the articles. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20121002/NEWS02/310020036/Brad-Staats-Facebook-post-shows-gun-tells-Obama-Welcome-Tennessee- I don't know if anything ever came of it other than I'm sure it didn't help in his bid to unseat Cooper in the election since the media made him look like a gun toting nut. Granted he lost by a ton of votes so you can't likely say that one thing cost him the election. -

There have been much less benign comments that have gotten people in trouble. For example, Bob Staats and his comment, "Many people in Tennessee keep asking me about my opinion on Second Amendment rights. Apparently Tennesseans are part of that crazy crowd that Obama says 'cling to their religion and guns.' Well, then I must be part of that crazy crowd," he wrote in a caption beneath an upside-down picture of his gun. "Here is something that I usually have with me. Welcome to Tennessee Mr. Obama, where we appreciate our 2nd Amendment rights and the Constitution that was wisely given to us by our founding fathers." Others may disagree but I don't see how he threatened the President with his comment. IIRC he got a visit from the Secret Service. -

Wouldn't his comment • Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control. be considered threatening a governmental official? Threatening the government officials of the United States is a serious crime under federal law. Threatening the President of the United States is a Class D felony under 18 U.S.C. § 871, punishable by 5 years of imprisonment, that is investigated by the United States Secret Service. Threatening other officials is a Class C or D felony, usually carrying maximum penalties of 5 or 10 years under 18 U.S.C. § 875, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and other statutes, that is investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. When national boundaries are transcended by such a threat, it is considered a terrorist threat.[1] When a threat is made against a judge, it can be considered obstruction of justice.[2] Threatening federal officials' family members is also a federal crime; in enacting the law, theCommittee on the Judiciary stated that "Clearly it is a proper Federal function to respond to terrorists and other criminals who seek to influence the making of Federal policies and interfere with the administration of justice by attacking close relatives of those entrusted with these tasks."[3] There are three elements of the offense of making an illegal threat: (i) there must be a transmission in interstate commerce; (ii) there must be a communication containing the threat;(iii) and the threat must be a threat to injure the person of another.[4] Threats can also sometimes be punished under the statutes criminalizing assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain United States Government officers or employees[5] or assassinating, kidnapping, and assaulting the government officials of the United States. -
Thanks for the heads up on how they conduct business. Don't believe they'll get my money.

Nice score. Is that the 9 or the 40?

Pretty neat. Was that a custom paint job for you or one you found?

Well at least it appears it was empty when it hit the floor so you didn't waste a serving of cereal too.

I'm assuming that's only if you supply your own turds.

556 vs 300 Win Mag - brass comparison
Trekbike replied to Trekbike's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
That 105 shell kinda makes everything else look, well...inadequate. -
It's certainly worth a try since today's epoxies are much better than they used to be. Regarding duct tape, have you ever tried the Gorilla Tape brand? It's some super strong stuff for sure. If that doesn't work you may want to see if you can get a replacement bowl from the company. It might be cheaper than a new tumbler.

Feinstein admits wanting to add AW to NFA registry
Trekbike replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
If the ATF can do this by an opinion letter outside of Congress, does the weight of our representatives have any bearing? I'm guessing the ATF might say, "thank you for your nice comments but we don't give a crap". -
Congrats, the Rock Chucker is a durable press that can last a lifetime. I've had mine for about 27 years and it's still going strong. I'd start out with handgun caliber you shoot the most and load that first. Give yourself a little time to get the hang of it before branching out to the rifle calibers since reloading for handguns is simpler. Also, set up your reloading bench somewhere quite so you can minimize the distractions. Carelessness with reloading can get you hurt so pay close attention to the details and it can be a rewarding hobby to go along with shooting.

NBC David Gregory Violates Federal Gun Laws Live On TV
Trekbike replied to runco's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't disagree but I think it comes down to how much stink people make over it. If enough noise is made it forces them to do something about it...if you don't believe me ask George Zimmerman. -
It kind of makes you chuckle when you see how small a 556 really is.

I do and I'm sure a bunch of other folks on here. Did you have some specific questions?

Please see if you can post up a link to that statement if you don't mind. I looked around their website but didn't see it. I want to get a screen shot in case it disappears. I intend on sending some nice notes to some folks on that statement. That there my friend is more than "absolutely disgusting".

Yep...and they make nice pretty holes.
