Does anybody in the Nashville area have any experience with Ewing Bass Garage & Transmission? My son's '99 Explorer transmission isn't shifting into the higher gear range and OD. Some searching indicates it might be one of the electronic solenoids. I did check the fuses along with the OD switch it mentioned and those checked good. I'm hoping it's something minor. Anyway, I came across Ewing Bass is my search and was wondering if anyone had used them before. Says they have been in business since 1955, family owned, A+ BBB rating. I was hoping to stay out of the major chain transmission shops since I don't trust them and find something in the west part of Nashville if possible. http://www.ewingbassgarage.com/

Here's one option. Don't know how their cost compares. It says you can buy spools at Home Depot, shows various colors, etc. Link below is for the in store items. http://www.homedepot.com/b/N-5yc1v/Ntk-Extended/Ntt-550%2Bparacord?NCNI-5&browsestoreoption=1

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
Trekbike replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I've copied the sample letter below that they posted with their video and I'm not sure if their letter is the best approach to take. What do you think? It seems to me that the BAFTE's response would be something to the effect of, "thanks for reminding us that the M193 ammo will defeat the armor as well. We'll be sure to add it to the list." I know they would have a harder time trying to regulate that ammo since it doesn't meet the normal AP description but it seems to be just their next step if they are able to do this to the M855 ammo. To whom it may concern, I am writing to voice my strong opposition to the proposed change to current law that would make it illegal to manufacture, import or sell on the open market M855 / SS109 ammunition. The claimed purpose of this change is to “protect the lives and safety of law enforcement officers from the threat posed by ammunition capable of penetrating a protective vest when fired from a handgun”. As the Technical Branch well knows, all rifle ammunition of a common caliber such as .223 / 5.56 is capable of penetrating threat level IIA and IIIA body armor regardless of the firearm that is used to fire it. M855 / SS109 is no more of a threat to law enforcement than M193 or Horandy VMAX loads are. It’s also worth noting that rifle caliber pistols are rarely used in violent crime, their usage is a statistical zero for all practical purposes, which further begs the question as to why this proposed rule change is being considered. Banning the availability of affordable surplus ammunition under the false pretense that it’s in the name of officer safety is a clear violation of our 2nd Amendment rights. Thank you for your time and consideration, FULL NAME CITY / STATE -
I recently received a Magpul BEV Block as a gift and wanted to post this since I was unaware of this product. If you have an AR build coming up and don't have the proper tools yet you might want to take a look at this product. The fit and finish was top notch quality as is typical of most Magpul products. I saw a couple of reviews on Midway where a couple people had problems with it fitting into their barrel extensions. Mine fit both of my AR's with no issues. One was a billet CMT upper and the other was a mil-spec Bushmaster. http://www.magpul.com/products/bev%E2%84%A2-block-%E2%80%93-ar15-m4 Here's a video that also shows their armorer's tool that also looks like a great product. The Bev block is the last half of the video.

M855/SS109 5.56 Ban!!! AKA Green Tip
Trekbike replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I'm not sure the info above is correct since I found the following info on page 15 from the PDF link in the OP. These AR-type handguns were not commercially available when the armor piercing ammunition exemption was granted in 1986. To ensure consistency, upon final implementation of the sporting purpose framework outlined above, ATF must withdraw the exemptions for 5.56 mm “green tip” ammunition, including both the SS109 and M855 cartridges. -
I'd go with a hi power like several have suggested.

Yep, give Metalhead a chance first. He was able to beat Bud's on a 1911 for my son recently. .

Gotta. Thanks for the info.

There seems to be some hard feelings there... I never really listened to or followed Young so I'm unaware of actions on his part to win your favor. :)

Pretty cool.

I'm not sure but think there was some doctoring on that second video. How else would you get a video from the location that was blown up? I guess it could be a live stream but it would have had to be your camera you just blew up unless you could hack their stream. I don't know much about video capability so I may be totally wrong.
