Some thoughts to pass on. I would get a sliding dual compound for sure. The 12" blade size is nice if you plan to cut very thick boards but if it's a sliding model, a 10" saw can still do most of what you want without the extra cost of the saw and blades. Generally a 10" slider will allow for a 12" wide board to be cut. A 12" saw can typically cross cut around 14". The Dewalt saw you linked is all the miter saw you should ever need. You linked Amazon as maybe just a reference, but I would buy it through HD or Lowes since both have it at the same price, (Less chance for shipping damage since it's about a 60 lb saw and very bulky.)

I got that same saw about a year ago and if memory serves me correctly it was on sale for $199. I've been pleased with it so far and I've put down quite a bit of wide board flooring. I'm with you, Ryobi doesn't get much respect, but I believe it's a good product for the money. My previous saw was a Ryobi that I passed on to my son since I needed a sliding model.

Welcome aboard. Be sure to check out the Ruger 57 as a cheaper and possibly better option based on the reviews I've seen.

Yeah, for sure the cost is a big downside, but they do seem to hold their resale value better than most RV's.

Nope, Airstreams don't have slide outs. Some consider that a negative. I consider it a positive due to long term maintenance required of the RV slides.

Below is a link to a Bill Whittle Afterburner video he did back in 2014 about the "occupy wallstreet" group at the time. This thread reminded me of the video. Well worth a watch since it explains why the decline of work ethic the last number of years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfA6SbzRAdU

I always keep the 12 rounder in my P365 to get the extra grip length. I keep the 15 round as a spare. Hated the look of the Sig 15 round baseplate so I bought one of these, just because a gun needs to look good too. It lasted about a year or so before developing a crack, so I quit using it. Kinda surprised it lasted that long. https://tactical.dev/products/sig-p365-15-pro

One option if you find a plate but it's in rougher shape than you want, you can have the plate "restored" by someone that is good with free hand pinstriping, etc. A co-worker that hand pinstripes recently restored a '50ish era plate for someone he knows. -
So does this mean that the media and politicians will no longer be able to claim the AR15 platform is a "weapon of war"?

Yeah, 180 grain is all I shoot in my 40's, It makes a noticeable difference to me. YMMV.

@WorriedmanDon't know the full story, but I heard if this passes, we will lose carry permit reciprocity with a number of states due to the age drop. Is this correct?

To bad GT never offered a frequent buyer punch card, because you'd surely qualify for a free knife.

I know based on some of your posts, you guys like the outdoors, camping etc. so go with the dirt bike route to start. Take it along on some suitable camping trips and do some double riding with her on some fire roads and easy two tracks. Bet she'll have a good time and then you'll have an easier time going forward.

Based on our recent motorcycle discussion in the knife thread, I thought buying a bike was a no-go with your wife. I'm guessing you wouldn't go to the trouble of taking a class if a potential purchase wasn't a possibility with the wife.

What's your boat and trailer weigh? Guessing it's probably around 3,500 lbs give or take. Today most full size SUV's with a tow package are rated 5,000 lbs or more so don't lock yourself into a truck unless you want a truck.

Warning-Graphic Picture of my Stupidity
Trekbike replied to Defender's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Understood. I have a similar story to a point. I grew up with dirt bikes but had gotten out of riding for a number of years. Before we married, we had planned to get street bike. One of her good friends got killed on a street bike so that was the end of that idea to this day after 33 years. She had no issues with dirt bikes so we both ended up with dirt bikes for a number of years. Currently bike-less due to other hobbies now, etc. -

Don't mean to pry, but just wondering about the source of her being furious. Money, safety, taking away time with her, all of the above, something else? Maybe as either current or previous bike owners, we can give you some good talking points. Or you could go the route of, "I'll get a bike if I want...I wear the pants in the family". Doesn't require a smart man to predict how that will turn out.
