  1. That made my day.
  2. What day does the AK guy get paid to show up?
  3. Okay I'll take a stab. Since I'm not an expert and you get what you pay for...my guess is that I agree with you. I'm thinking the 922r wouldn't apply UNTIL you start modifying it. Had it been bought in that condition prior to the law, then it wouldn't apply. But I can be totally wrong. I've got no idea if the Saiga furniture will fit. Sorry, to not be of real help.
  4. I'll just list my last purchase for breivity. S&W M&P 40 full size Liked the way it felt in my hand. Good balance and easy to point. Good factory sights. Liked the construct of the gun because the slide rides on the metal guide rails of the frame insert, rather than metal on polymer. Frame insert is replaceable if needed. Made in the USA. Had a rebate to get two extra mags. Bottom rail for accessories. Wanted a double action only. Decent value.

I've never been. Anything I should know except bring a bunch of cash? Not 100% sure if I'm in or not. Really jonesing for an XD40 SC so that cash would go a long way towards one. Tough decision.

Just saw that it was next weekend. Never been but thinking about going with my son. I've always wanted to shoot an M60. For anyone that's been before, about how much per round does it cost to shoot it something like an M60? Also saw they had flamethrowers. What is the pay rate for one of those? Do they weigh how much stuff you burned up and charge you per pound? LOL
  7. Owl Hollow has 25, 50, 100 yards.
  8. I'd would see if you could find a converted Saiga rather than a WASR. In general the Romanian AK's are on the lower end of the quality level. The Saiga quality is much better since it's out of Russia and has a higher quality chrome lined barrel, etc. It also starts out with new quality parts rather than possibly off spec mil surplus parts in some of the other AK imports. You can feel the difference when you handle them versus a WASR. If you like fooling around with guns, buy a new Sagia and convert it yourself. You can build it in the configuration you want. You just have to watch out for 922R compliance regulations. There is a great Saiga forum to help you out.
  9. Good luck on finding out where the brass goes. LOL. It really kicks the brass a long way. Good gun.
  10. That's easier said than done. I like my current job and have no desire to quit just because it is currently in their policy not to have weapons on the property. Their policy dates back a long time. In my particular case I started working for my current employer 6 years before you could even get a HCP in TN. I did discuss the fact that the rule needed to be looked at again since it pre-dated HCP's. I said HCP holders have proven to be law abiding folks. I didn't press it further at that point since I could tell it wasn't the time. I will wait for the appropriate time to bring it up again. Again, in my case I've got a family to support and I've chosen to comply at this time. Quiting to prove me point isn't in my family's best interest at this time. I'll bide my time and continue to gauge the waters and try to get the policy changed.
  11. My wife likes the 1911's as well. If it's got to be a 9mm, you may want to try the Springfield EMP or the Para Ordinance Carry 9 LDA. Both are resized frame 1911's for 9 mm. Also, the Ruger SR9 is about the thinnest double stack 9 mm on the market. To me I'd say it's as thin as a 1911.
  12. I went as well. Just like Mugster and Papabear said, crazy high prices on most stuff. So for all of you that were bummed that you weren't going to be able to go...you didn't miss out on any real deals. I think most folks didn't know the market value of what they were bidding on. No sales tax, no buyers premium, no background checks. I got there early to get a good look on all the pistols with a bore light. I was after 1911's if I could get a, "I stole it price" otherwise I wasn't buying. Overall, the 1911's were in great shape. Both of the Para's looked brand new. One of the best pistols deals was a double stack Para P14.45 limited stainless. It almost looked unfired. My older blue book said it was worth over $900+, it went for $675. I wrote down most of the prices. AK47 Semi Auto 7.62 X 39 - $500 - after the first sale I knew it wasn't going to be the auction I hoped for on finding any deals. 13. Hey does that also mean that only 1911's are allowed?
  14. I can totally agree with that since I'm in the same boat with my job. My intent was to say that an employer has a right to enforce certain rules on employees as long as it's within the law. Unfortunately the second admendment is one area that isn't universally accepted by society. It again goes back to my choice, accept the current rules, or go somewhere else. In my case, I choose to stay with my current employer and have to leave my gun at home. Hopefully the law will pass and then the employer will have to abide by the law and we'll all be happy.
  15. I'm not sure but it looks like a ricochet that came back and hit him in the head. If it was a ricochet, a inch or two lower and he would have been toast.
  16. I wanted to first state that I want the law to pass but I can also see it from the employer's side. The deal with employers is that I chose to work there. They don't make me. If I want money for the work I do and want to continue to have a job, I have to abide by their rules. I may not like their rules, or agree with them, but if I want to be an employee I'm obligated to obey. Same thing goes with joining any private club. If I want to join and be a member, I abide by their rules. If the rules say I have to shave my head to be a member, they I need to shave my head. If I really like having hair on my head then I need to find another club that doesn't have that rule. I don't need to waste time and money by trying to sue my way into the club. TGO has posting rules, you may not like some of them and feel they violate your first admendment rights, but TGO can make the rules. If you don't like them then go to another forum. It comes down to my choice. If I don't like my employer's rules I need to get a different job.
  17. I would agree in principle but states already force laws on property owners. A recent example is outlawing smoking in restaurants unless it is a 21 or older place of business. They didn't allow the owner chose if he wanted to make it smoking or non-smoking. I don't smoke but I don't agree with the mandate. As a customer if I don't want to be around smoke, I can chose to go a non-smoking establishment.
  18. Hey Arko, I saw the post and wanted to get more details on the closing since I've got a soft spot for shelter animals. Something didn't look right regarding the, "between Radford and Virginia Tech", since I used to live in Montgomery Co. Did some looking and found the following. It looks like the shelter is not the one in TN, nor VA, it's one in Texas. Montgomery County, VA - Animal Care & Control My intent for the reply is not to crap on your post, it's just to let people know this is not the shelter in TN. I hope the folks in TX can come through and help the animals find a home.
  19. One of my favorites was when he asked a girl, "who lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave?", she didn't know. When asked, "who lives in a pineapple under the sea?", she proudly responded, Sponge Bob! Sad but true. These kids are going to be in control of the country in the not too distant future. (That is if the clowns in charge right now distroy it first.)
  20. Just wondering if anyone has one, and if so, how do you like it?
  21. COOP. Congrats. Now you get to add the little card thing to your avatar. Man, I don't know who you're trying to kid...we've seen you before. lol

    642 or LCR?

Another vote for the 642. I'm not as much worried about the polymer part of the frame, the extremely thin walls on the cylinder are what scare me.
  23. If you are going to go with a mini 14 style, go even cheaper with a Saiga 7.62 in the sporting configuration (which is the only way they can be imported). These can be purchased in the mid $400's.

    TGO MAP

    Mod's...can the map get sticky'd?
  25. AK47 or 74 IMHO. I second the Saiga suggestion. Much better quality but you have to convert them if you want the traditional AK look. Also they started offering them in the 5.45 round not too long ago if you want cheaper ammo than the 7.62.
