  1. It's not in Nashville's current library catalog in case anyone is wondering.
  2. Were they consecutive serial numbers or very close? I hope they were limited to a small batch due to some freak situation at the factory. I guess that shows you can never assume anything.
  3. Gerber Torch II Tanto - I love the finger assist! Technical Specs: Overall Length: 8.1" Closed Length: 4.6" Length of Blade: 3.5" Weight: 5.0 oz. Blade Material: 440A Stainless Steel Handle Material: Stainless Steel with G10 inserts
  4. Very interested to see how this concludes.
  5. What in the world are you waiting on...shoot that thing.
  6. Excellent!
  7. What ammo where you shooting? It does take a little practice with snubs due to the heavy trigger and short sight picture. Don't give up too quick as the 642 is a great gun.
  8. Don't you mean, "^^^^^very nice looking ak up there comrade"? We got a converted Saiga. Very nice quality IMO.
  9. +1 for sure.
  10. There's about another 15 minutes on the subject contained on a DVD that I got from the NRA last year. They probably have all of the program posted on their site somewhere. I've passed the DVD to several and everyone that watches it is in shock. While the NRA isn't perfect, it's the best we've got at the moment so please join.
  11. That might not have been the best way to start out. Most folks subscribe to the rule that SHE needs to be the ultimate one to choose the weapon. You can offer suggestions but she has to pick it. She has to feel comfortable with what she's shooting. Many women aren't confident with semi's and like revolvers better when they start out. I'd let her know that you can get her a different gun (or borrow one) if that's holding her back. Also, letting her start out with .22's really helps out. They will quickly move to heavier calibers with time. Don't rush it. I've read some pretty good threads with suggestions over in the Women and Firearms section. While these suggestions might help bring your wife around to firearms, it's still got to be her decision. If she doesn't fully believe in the important of shooting and ultimately a HCP, you'll be pushing a rope. Good luck with winning your wife over. I had the benefit that I started when mine was still my girlfriend. That's when they'll go with you to do just about anything to spend time with you.
  12. Locally in my area the cheapest 7.62x39 ammo is Academy's Monarch. Here it runs $5.69/20 rounds. Online, I've had decent pricing and great service from Ammunition to Go. The link below is for the 7.62. 1000 rounds of Bear Bear is running $199. Shipping to Nashville on an item like this is around $18-$20. FMJ AMMO : Ammunition To Go Also Aim Surplus has some good deals as well. P.S. on my personal experience with Wolf military classic, I had 3 rounds out of 20 that didn't fire on the first primer strike (which is very heavy on my SKS). Not likely to buy anymore. Never had a misfire out of the Monarch ammo.
  13. I think we have a majority winner...Das Boot. Funny I watched it many years ago and added it to my Netflix queue earlier this week.
  14. The $430 is for the low end model. Just remember there is about a $200 range higher depending on the model you're looking at. Not sure which one you have.
  15. +1 That's why most folks just refer to them as BSNBC...
  16. Take a look at the S&W M&P. I've got the full size 40 and love how it fits my hand and points well. Some folks don't like the trigger compared to Glocks but it's not bad. (I recently added an aftermarket Apex Tactical sear that drops to pull down to a little under 4 pounds and cuts the reset distance almost in half. As soon as I get a chance to get it out to the range I'll post up a report.) New will run you over your $500 target but not enough to rule it out.
  17. The bore is clean and rifling is in really good shape. I've only had a chance to put around 60 rounds through it so far but have been impressed to this point. The biggest thing that holds back the accuracy on these IMO is the crappy sights. I've heard the Tech Sights for these do wonders.
  18. I just used Birchwood Casey "Super Blue" Liquid Gun Blue that I picked up at Academy Sports.
  19. Actually it went pretty quick. I didn't keep up with my time but would estimate about 7-8 hours of actual work. I worked on it an hour here and there over a couple of weeks.
  20. Well I picked up my first SKS about a month ago. It's a good shooter but I wanted to make it look better, so I refinished it. I reblued the metal, cleaned up the stock, sanded, and put 3 coats of tung oil on. It looks so much better IMO for a 43 year old rifle. I think it's a keeper. Below are some before and after photos.
  21. He'll never be any good. Not once did he yell "Contact". He had plenty of room to get in a full barrel roll when going from one side to the other.
  22. I work with a guy that has quite a few guns (40 or so) and has never shot some even after many many years of ownership. So yea, it can happen. But in general I agree and think people tend to under estimate the round count, either intentionly or just not realizing how much they actually shot.
  23. At first I said, "that's cool" a ambidextrous release. But then I got to thinking, "what's the point" the crane is still going to swing open on the wrong side for a lefty.
  24. +1. What better way to stick it in the face of Rayburn and his cronies. Support the ones that supported the cause, black ball the ones that didn't. When I say black ball, I mean exactly that, a list should be compiled stating which businesses to stay away from and provide that to the attendees. That includes any catering done at the convention.
