  1. I'm liking my DB Bullard Dual Carry so far in IWB mode, but not so much in OWB mode. See my recent review. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/47794-dm-bullard-dual-carry-holster-fs-m-p40.html
  2. If you plan to work in Nashville you need to really look at the Interstate traffic options you will be faced with compared to where you live. All of them suck for the most part around typical rush hour. For example there is no way I would live in Sumner County and work in Nashville. It's always a parking lot (I-65 South in the morning, I-65 North in the evening). You can say the same thing for I-24 coming from Rutherford County. Just other thing to put on your pros and cons list.
  3. The earlier the better for me since I'm use to getting up early. As a reminder to everyone, the time changes this weekend. Do you know how many confirmed folks we have yet?
  4. Sounds like a worthwhile idea to me. Do you have a link you can post up to direct me in the right direction on Yahoo's website? They've got a bunch of crap on their site, most of which I don't ever bother with.

    Preferences?

Another choice for stainless in an EDC.
  6. Plus it will look better on Hoss in case he needs to borrow it at some point to match his shoes better. And no it won't make your butt look big.
  7. I relocated the clips and it holds the holster relatively tight but not as tight or close as a traditional OWB. A couple of the things I noticed when trying it in the OWB mode. The holster rides lower than I would have liked. Due to the 4:00-5:00 position you lose the use of your strong side back pocket. The holster is more bulky than normal OWB's, and IWB's for that matter. See the pictures below. In summary, I still like the holster but as I said earlier, my main reason for buying was to wear it as an IWB. As with most things that try to fill multiple roles, there are compromises with both. You make the choice as to what you want, a convertible holster or buying two holsters that are specifically designed for IWB or OWB.
  8. I'm not sure since I haven't tried it in that mode. Give me a day or so to try it and I'll post a reply.
  9. What about just running the cable lock through the trigger guard area? Maybe behind the trigger? Probably not the safest option since it opens up the possibility for a AD. Depending on the handgun you carry it might not be as unsafe as other ones might be.

    S&W M&P

FS M&P 40 here. +1 on the Apex trigger parts.
  11. Sunday is not my first choice due to church, but I'm willing be flexible. I'll just sing some church songs in my head while I pick up trash. Nov 7th will work for me.
  12. I just received the DM Bullard Dual Carry holster I ordered for my full size M&P40. I had been looking at both the Supertuck and MTAC, but I’m an old school leather kind of person. When I ordered it the lead time was 10-12 weeks. I saw that he is now up to 16-20 weeks. For reference the holster is meant to be worn in the 4:00-5:00 position. It comes standard with metal belt clips but can be ordered with leather loops if you wish. The style of the holster allows it to be used as an OWB and an IWB, either tucked or un-tucked, depending on the placement of the belt clips. I mainly intend on using it as an IWB since I already have an OWB that is a little less bulky. The M&P is not my EDC but I wanted a good IWB for certain carry situations. The fit and finish quality of the holster is very nice. There is a stiffener band that makes one handed re-holstering very clean. In summary I’m a happy camper and it was worth the wait.
  13. +1 on the Saiga. Very nice quality IMO.
  14. Just as a word of warning, I'm thinking the availability of class is getting scarce due to the time of the year. I did see something on their website that might be your best option right now since you were also looking for someone to mentor you on the actual hunting aspect. I copied this from the TWRA website. TWRA Apprentice Permit Hunter Education Exempt (Type 012) In an effort to introduce new hunters to the sport, we have developed a new type of hunting permit designed especially for people who may wish to sample the pleasures of Tennessee’s many hunting opportunities. The Agency’s Apprentice Permit will provide a one-time exemption from Tennessee’s Hunter Education requirements for anyone ten years of age or older for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The permit may only be purchased once during the lifetime of the hunter. Potential hunters (born on or after January 1, 1969) who have not completed the state’s usually mandatory Hunter Education course may purchase the type 012 permit for $11. This permit allows the holder to hunt in Tennessee for one year from the date of purchase without having to complete the Hunter Education course. The hunter must also possess all appropriate licenses and permits required of Hunter Education certified hunters. Hunters purchasing the Apprentice Permit must be accompanied by a person 21 years of age or older who is a hunter education graduate or is exempt from the hunter education requirements (born prior to 1969). This person must remain in a position to take immediate control of the hunting device. The Apprentice Hunting Permit is valid only in Tennessee and will not exempt people hunting outside Tennessee from that state’s hunter education requirements. However, out-of-state hunters coming to Tennessee to hunt may purchase the Apprentice Hunting Permit one time only.
  15. Welcome Josh. I agree with the previous posts about getting a mentor. Regarding the Hunter Education course, don't be afraid to just sign up for the course. You have to have it anyway to get a license since you were born after 1969. The state offers study material, etc. in preparation for the test. I sat though it with my son several years ago and it starts with the basics and moves on from there. Most of the students are young so it's not fast paced and very basic. Based on my son's class it doesn't assume any firearms knowledge. Honestly I don't think you would have any trouble. You will have to do some actual shooting on the test day but depending on where you take it, you might be just shooting a pellet gun. At most it will be a .22 rifle. Good luck!
  16. I will not be able to do the 16th or 17th. At this point the other days look okay.
  17. I'm sure that video warms the hearts of all the anti's for sure. Someone will probably call DHS on the parents.
  18. Will the depriming pin still unscrew from the die body? If so, could you remove it by knocking it out with an appropriate size rod after you put the die back in the press?
  19. Got the passes missed the bear.
  20. Looks good. You must be a tall/large guy to require that much extension. I've been considering getting one of the Scout mounts too. I'm guessing you've converted it to accept AK magazines since I don't see the factory 10 rounder.

    Cycling

Just a note on the terrain. The front section is somewhat hilly. Not many flat sections. None are steep. Mainly either short rollers or long gradual climbs. Some folks like it, some don't because of that. Some folks choose to skip the very first 3-4 miles and park at the lot at mile marker 440. If you can, start at the base and ride up since the hill coming back down is worth it. You can easily hit 40 if you want. Traffic is usually very light with tons of cyclists on the weekend mornings. Most cars and motorcycles will give you plenty of room when passing. The other great thing about the Trace is that you can use it to connect to so many routes in the Franklin area/Leipers Fork/Fly/Columbia area. Numerous 40-60+ miles routes you can tie into the Trace.

Check out the Natchez Trace Pkwy if you haven't already. Also, there is a ton of other great places to ride around Franklin, Leapers Fork, etc. etc. There are a lot of routes mapped out on Map My Ride for the area.

    Cycling

I used to ride a lot with Trace Bikes since it's close to where I live. Great folks IMO. Right now they're training a group for the Jack & Back MS ride in a couple of weeks. It is a great ride if you've never done it. I rode it back in 2007.

Road bikes here. Didn't get many miles in since last summer due to some family illness but about to hit the road again. I prefer the cooler temps anyway.
  25. Ask and you shall receive. I noticed they were mowing 386 yesterday. It looks like most of our section is already done with just a short section around mile marker 6ish remaining as of 6:30 this morning.
