Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
OLDNEWBIE replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Some have been saying the crew was plinking with real ammo in that gun. Perhaps the Baldwin victims were among the plinkers? They didn't deserve being shot but it would be ironic. Leaving a loaded gun unlocked is a crime in some States nowadays. Another possible charge/crime against anti-gun Hollywood with a law they push on the rest of us. I'm guessing some cell vids exist of the plinking sessions. -
Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
OLDNEWBIE replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Anti-gun Hollywood types are in a bubble and have demonized gun owners, the NRA and anyone who has knowledge that would have prevented this. They in fact have, (dare I say), CANCELLED them. Insulating yourself from people who you disagree with can be fatal. If you have avoided guns and people who use them all your life maybe you should take a moment and educate yourself before you play act with them. -

When all this gets confirmed then yes, on that level he should be found guilty. On the actor level...stupid YES but no charges will be found against him. -

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
OLDNEWBIE replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Not if you were a paid actor and John and Steve were in charge of handing you a safe prop gun. With the limited info released so far other than being stupidly naive about danger and failing to educate yourself about tools of your trade.....No charges because you followed the minimum weak requirements set out by the film industry apparently. As more comes to light, if corners were indeed cut because of Union squabbles etc., Baldwin being more than just an actor in this production may very well face some charges. It's hard as a person familiar with shooting firearms to put yourself in the shoes of an idiot actor who has no clue about guns except movies. Dislike the man but won't judge him just yet. -
Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
OLDNEWBIE replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
"Live round" in the case of movie making usually refers to blank round I'm learning. Semi autos need a restricter with small hole. This is welded or screwed into the barrel to function the action for multiple shots with blanks. Some of these guns are purpose built to only use special blanks and do not accept real ammo according to a few YouTube vids out there. Revolvers need no resriction disc in the barrel when using blanks and lots of pressure is released out the barrel. Enough to propel a lodged bullet or other foreign object out of the barrel with lethal force. I would hope part of the safety protocol on set would be to run a rod down the barrel prior to a fake gunfight? As an actor I would personally want to educate myself on all this even if I was anti-gun. To trust someone else just seems stupid. If a real round was in this revolver for some unknown reason, basic safety and knowledge on actors part could have prevented this as well. Perhaps as stupid as it is these actors are trained to let the "experts" do their jobs with the weapons and not to interfere. Hell with that! -
Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???

If he was messing around between scenes pointing it at people and playing around he is guilty for sure. If he was handed the gun by a prop guy and director called ACTION and he hit bystanders with a live round while filming the scene, well that's another thing. Hope Fake News gets the whole story out correctly but that's doubtful. He's one of their favs. The spin begins. -

Despite my dislike of the guy I my sympathy goes out to him. As they say he'll be reliving this the rest of his life. -
Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
OLDNEWBIE replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
I've often thought... If I was an actor in a scene where I get shot at, No way would I feel comfortable with a real functioning gun. Calling it a prop gun suggests it's rendered incapable of receiving real ammo. Seems their should be some special type of obvious mod that all can see. Also it should be mandatory that actors that are essentially playing with guns have a bit of a safety talk prior to scene. Be encouraged to ask questions and examine all prop guns themselves before shooting begins. It would scare the cramp out of me having a "prop guy" hand a gun to some hot actress who is supposed to kill me in the next scene. Saying all that....safety must be pretty decent as these tragedies are rare it seems. -

Hard to fathom how no body thought that was a possibility or even tested the idea first. -
No beef with his Military service and commendable he moved up so high starting at a time when his race would certainly have hindered him. No doubt this influenced his famous controversial Presidential Endorsement.

Seen them in 81 ?? Perhaps. Great sound live unlike many of that time and... When they spun their fuzzy guitars in unison the crowd went insane! Bad and Nationwide my favorite because I had a V8 Ford.

TFA analysis of permitless carry
OLDNEWBIE replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not getting into the good or bad of this as flawed as it is but... Wish there was a simple chart or something that would give more people the confidence to carry without fear of being arrested. We can assume: City, State, Fed Govt. Property you get max. punishment if caught. But. Private businesses with no guns signs posted = ?? What punishments expected. City limits, sidewalks, streets, public transport??? It's just too chancy for law abiding with assets to lose if busted. It's even wrong to lock weapon in your auto while in a State park or School zone it seems. The law makes for more awkward sightings and reports of exposed guns from people seeing carriers trying to obey the asinine law. Unholstering and securing in weird locations. Yes it's a huge step in the right direction but it needs fixing. First fix in my opinion. At a minimum personal cars should always be permitted anywhere, to make it easy to park in a prohibited place and secure the gun before entering. -

TFA analysis of permitless carry
OLDNEWBIE replied to Grayfox54's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
So, If you permitless carry now and end up being caught by law enforcement in a park or prohibited space, maybe after having to use the weapon justifiably ...... Is it a fine and a slap on the wrist?, or something more severe endangering ability to carry legally in the future? No one seems to know for sure but I know many who heard about the permitless carry and intend to do it but don't know all the asinine caveats! -
Shifting towards looking at the Crossville/Cookville area
OLDNEWBIE replied to a topic in General Chat
As a Cookeville Realtor myself, my guess is prices stabilize soon but no significant drop as inventory is and was low even before the virus and the shortages of labor and materials. People are flocking here to escape and...All the mortgages are so called "good" mortgages as well unlike 2008. So not seeing a crash with all the forclosures etc. Saying that look who's running the Country. Never know what he's going to cause to happen. -
Supposedly a good guy retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and engaged the shooter when he was in parking lot. Good guy got shot and died according to early reports from a witness/employee. If true, expect the media to harp on how armed Citizens can't be effective. Too bad multiple employees weren't armed and ready to take action in that workplace I say!

Started listening to him during the Bill Clinton Years when I had a welding gig that turned into a Box Truck Driver job once a week. Hours in the Truck listening to Rush "woke" me up politically. I had already been a Talk radio listener but formats were about health, sports, Roswell aliens etc. Rush was new! Now here we are in 2021 and Political talk all the time 99% conservative. Remember when the left tried a radio station and it failed? It takes critical thinkers to digest political talk radio. No flashy graphics or accompanying pics to skew your thoughts like the MSM. Just common sense. I honestly feel as bad as things seem now, without Rush this Country would be full blown progressive by now. He "woke" alot of folks to what was going on and by example started careers of all the Ben Shapiros, Glenn Becks, Crowders etc. and the slew of Right of Center podcasters and influencers, many of whom are so called minorities. The very people Rush and his type were always falsely accused of hating. This gives me hope. Thank you Rush and may you Rest in Peace!

I'll check them out, thanks!

In the early mornings here in Cookeville, not sure what channel but there is a Truck Drivers radio newstalk that's pretty good and on the weekend radio the guntalk show which of course these days must devote time to politics. I hope this thread keeps trucking!! Also would like to hear what podcasts/blogs you all frequent with overall World and National general and political news and comment. I'm sure there is plenty out there.

NPR I listen to quite a bit and it's almost laughable the amount of pieces they do on lgbtq, race, climate, immigration, guns etc. All with a particular left slant that doesn't even pretend to be unbiased. Saying that, I force myself to listen to this and MSM then watch and listen to a variety of sources like... YouTube's Salty Cracker, Crowder, BlazeTV, Tim pool Timcast. Newsmax as well. Crowder and Salty put a smile on my face even in these bleak times. I have no idea how they still exist with the censorship purge that's happening. Clips of Tucker Carlson or listening to Rush on the radio is helpful too. Also I actually listen to the Politicians own words on the Sunday talk shows. Perusing all that, I have a good handle on what's going on politically and I must say it's pretty depressing if you happen to be a critical thinker. I never once thought Trump had a chance in hell after the recounts and I do believe most of the fraud allegations after listening/watching all sources above an then some. It's time consuming and difficult but the truth is still out there for now.

Looks like they couldn't park the RV/bomb close enough to the building to cause Oklahoma type destruction. Outages are being caused by natural gas being cut off as a precaution I saw from one report. Pics of RV now out there as well.
