  1. Avoidance was always the best if possible. Don't want to escalate a bad scene. What you happen to see is rarely the whole situation. Big guy pounding on little guy might just be attempting to get his stolen wallet back for example but... Nowadays unfortunately, you might want to avoid interjecting yourself even in the most obvious example of a justified deadly force situation. In case anyone hasn't been paying attention the last 10 years or so you might want to hesitate drawing a weapon untill you.... Consider the State,Town, your race, their race, religion, your social media posts going back decades etc., etc...... Basically consider the trial in this upside down age should it come to that. Hard choice but defending a victim could easily get you locked away forever if you fit a certain demonized stereotype.
  2. True that, even if modernized to suit todays tastes, some of these shows were just kind of stupid, like Gilligans Island for example. On the other hand some were pretty well written and acted. The earlier Andy Griffin show or Odd couple come to mind but would today's audience have the attention span to watch those slow moving shows lacking sex and cool factor?
  3. Mentioned to a 45 year old coworker that MN had passed and now there was only one monkey left.... I was flabbergasted, he didn't know about the monkees! Not cool! I'm showing my age again in conversation I guess. Soon nobody will know what the heck I'm talking about, but the Monkees?? C'mon man! Although not the greatest by any stretch, they were iconic 60s , had multiple quality top hits and were promoted heavily with the tv show that had reruns too. Also the Skrek movie used I'm a Believer as a theme song. They were a hit again but... Never again will people have so little choice of entertainment that the majority of people will have watched or listened to the same selection of News, shows and music like some of us did. And if you didn't get enough the first time, endless reruns would engrain at least the themesongs of these shows in your brain forever and ever. Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Gilligans Island, Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, the Monkees, Star Trek and the list goes on but a limited list that I'm sure all in a certain age group know by heart. What would you call it? Not golden or silver age right? The first "in color" age of TV maybe but many started as B&W ? Either way they are fading away fast in our collective memories.
  4. Some decent hits, always maligned as being a fake TV band but they were good singers and musicians.
  5. Lots of SA YouTubers posting the extreme improbability of no trigger discharge. They have the actual firearms and demonstrate on camera the 4 click positions. Actor George Clooney weighing in doesn't give Baldwin any grace. Basically a seasoned actor that has had gun scenes before should have known to check and have the expert armorer check the gun with him prior to using it. Pretty damning interview. Baldwin's interview, what I've seen of it makes him look like an ass. Add it all up and I'm tending to agree with the majority here that Baldwin the actor is guilty as well as Baldwin the producer.
  6. Old school Republican, purple heart WWll, Senator, patriot. Norm McDonald did a pretty good impression on how Dole used to speak of himself in the third person. Made me laugh at the time. RIP Bob Dole.
  7. At first glance charging the parents concerned me as a step towards losing a little more of our already weakened 2ndA. If the charges are they encouraged and provided a gun and to a kid that was showing obvious signs of a mass shooter, resulting in death, then I'm OK with it. If the charges are they had an unsecure gun that the kid took then I'm not OK with it. It's a very slippery slope that could morph into laws penalizing an owner who's gun was stolen. Or mandatory safe laws leading to inspections, registration and the rest of it. Saying that if what we hear is true... The unique actions and inactions of these parents compared to most of the usual mass killers parents we hear about warrants punishment.
  8. This would suggest that he had prior knowledge and training with gun safety.....did he just throw away his "ignorant actor" get out of jail for free card??
  9. Don't remember his exact words but he suggested he let go of hammer after slowly pulling it back a little under direction from someone. Just saw a clip on YouTube of that and him sort of crying. Don't know what difference hammer release vs trigger squeeze would make in his case so maybe there's truth to his story. Even though he came across as fake in my opinion. I think he knows more about guns than he's letting on but still believe an average ignorant actor in this situation would get off. His involvement in the production side should go against him if things were fair though.
  10. He said in interview that he pulled the hammer back a little and was asking, "Is this enough?, Is this enough?" No finger on trigger. I assume he's claiming it was practice for a close up shot. He also said it was supposed to be empty. No dummies nothing. To me trigger squeeze or hammer release would not make any difference in the trial unless prosecution is suggesting some sort of premeditated murder but... If he let go before it cocked couldn't it fire? No internal safety on old single actions correct? That's why you carry with an empty cylinder I thought.
  11. Bully prevention and treatment is stressed to a fault in this PC world. When real bullying finally reaches some of our insulated youth for the first time, maybe High School well... Kid has no idea how to deal with it.
  12. Daughters here who have zero interest no matter how many times I try and force it. One was a natural with the bb gun but absolute zero interest so I am more lax than some. Unloaded out of sight and away from ammo all the time but not always locked up. If I had a boy, especially one who exhibited signs of a loner who let's just say is "different".... or even to a lesser extent just typical teen boy but fascinated with first person shooter games I would take the gun security to a different level. Perhaps even reduce my collection of "certain semi-auto weapons" as well as locked always. Although no safe will stop a determined person from access and it could be argued with a safe, the location and the fact you even have guns is now obvious. Hard to be objective with your own teens to think they are on a track to do something like this but I think I am on other issues. Perhaps that's why they are mad at me so often lol. Seriously though, in hindsight haven't all these young killers shown warning signs that were ignored by the parents or someone the parents sent the kid to for help? You are responsible for the guns you own but you are more responsible to be paying attention to your kid. Some of these shootings could have been easily prevented.
  13. I stand corrected. Didnt look too closely at it. The shroud and the quietness fooled me. The two shots at the ground were insanely quiet I thought.
  14. Watched a news clip where she said she thought it was some kind of taser. If you never saw that setup before, supressed and never expected a real gun to appear, perhaps true. Woman in house could be heard screaming out. Maybe cell camera holder?
  15. Good analysis. The still frame from taken from the house POV in this article tells the whole story in my opinion. In the vid Read appears at the moment of shooting to be standing almost at attention arms at side and at least 7 feet? or more away from the pointed carbine. Looks like he had almost come to his senses and realised what a dangerous situation he got himself into. He was standing still. No immediate threat like moments earlier. Texas law and a good lawyer might save shooter but at that moment in time, killing the man was just wrong and .. smacks of revenge, anger and loss of control. 3:15 just sticks in my head, dead man kept repeating that. Jesus help me but I've been that stupid angry in my younger days. When you're right and know it, you're willing to die on that hill to prove it. Too bad he didn't just walk away and deal with it some other way. His Kid has the vid now to haunt him for the rest of his life. And the bad living situation he probably had is now 100 times worse I'm guessing.
  16. The new vid angle shows clearly when shot was fired there was ample distance between them. No need to shoot unless mouth charged. If that guy was that distance from me and I already had it pointed at him......No way I would have shot at that moment. That's if you objectively take all emotion out of the equation. And yes I have been emotional and angry as these people at times in my life. Watching this vid just makes me sad for all involved. I'm going to go hug my family now.
  17. Weird video, like a fake with bad acting. Unarmed man grabbed his gun but let go. Then home owner got some distance and didn't need to fire unless he was being charged at afterwards then but vid doesn't show. His property but deadly force seemed inapropriate at that moment. Other angles and full vid needed but... Homeowner was too quick to come out with weapon in this situation in my opinion.
  18. Turns out I found he did chase and block, as well as film. Intent matters I feel. The other two chased a theft suspect with weapons. Easy correct verdict. Other guy probably knew these idiot hot heads well enough to know they were armed vigilante types when they asked him to help. If he knew them that well, the blocking would be cause for the harsh verdict. Assisting the killing. If he was really just trying to help get vid of who he thought had been thieving... then different story but his lawyer or his testimony must have been deficient. People film all manner of crimes nowadays and aren't usually charged. People often rush to get involved in things trying to help at first but suddenly turn ugly. When I get time I'm going to try and review his part of the trial.
  19. From tidbits I saw seems Jury did it's job. Trying to get timeline of cell phone guy though. He was called over to follow, started recording and got charged and convicted? I know I'm missing something. Somebody told me he blocked victim with his truck. Charge seems harsh maybe? Again I didn't follow trial and didn't even know third man was on trial.
  20. The only relevance to this creeps race being black is that the media will not hype the story. It's very obvious when something horrible like this happens and it "happens" to be a non- white there is a delay in info and negative speculation that is not afforded a white person. Why? Pushing stories where White Supremacist radicals kill people is working very well to divide this country. Facts be dammed, the ends justify the means...When we are divided we are easy to control. If the media was honest and treated all equal in their reporting we wouldn't be so close to losing the rights we have left in this Country. But diminished rights seems to be on their agenda. Especially the 2nd A.
  21. Hopefully he knows enough and there will be ample time for him to disavow BLM the organization not the general statement. A lot of prosecutorial injustices? Damn straight. Enough for all races and creeds to complain.
  22. Without Lindell and Schroder the bail money would have been impossible I would assume for Kyle.
  23. Some of the video shows him not hitting many obvious targets at first.... Was he avoiding some and targeting others or saving up and manouvering for the big kill shot? Either way it's coming out he had multiple reasons to have been locked up more seriously than he had been. Should not have been on the streets. How can they come out this quickly and say it's not terrorism? In todays climate if he has social media ideological posts that are anti-police and pro BLM etc. then given the timing of the Rittenhouse verdict I would say that call is premature. Even if he was hyped up on drugs and fleeing from a stabbing crime. Maybe he thought his luck had run out and he might as well go down Kamikazee for his cause than rot in prison.
  24. My 303 Enfield with the crapped out barrel. Cool but useless. If I ever get a gun room/man cave it's an historical art piece. Barrel replaced it loses the cool historical aspect but cool to shoot. Probably will sell it someday as my offspring is indifferent.
  25. Jesus I hope this rare method of mass killing doesn't catch on. It's been done more successfully in Europe and there's so many easy targets out there. The worst one I believe was... Nice, France attack in 2016. 86 deaths 458 injured. Germany had a pretty bad one too. Much easier and deadly for a lone attacker than a so called assault weapon.
