  1. Are you sure those guns were not his already and you were just storing them for him? I mean didn't he inherit them from you before he moved? Don't know FL law anymore and the age reqirements or TN requirements for that matter but I guess the purchase date would have to jive with his age and date he moved.
  2. Every couple of years some sociopath throws a heavy object off of an overpass seriously injuring or killing someone. Can't figure out how causing such misery can be entertaining to a person. You can see how other crimes make a slight bit of sense. A guy robs a store, he then has some cash. A guy steals a car, he has a ride and so on. But vandalism and random acts of violence? Lots of sick people out there.
  3. It states that there will be a cost for loss of property. I assume that's a buyback but who knows.
  4. Seems like a buyback is in order. What the heck did those cost anyway? I know some people were stocking up in anticipation after Vegas.
  5. I've got a technique I use for insomnia. I have an old mp3 player I load up with semi interesting documentaries or even better, lectures I swipe from youtube. Biographies, history, war, book discussions etc. The more boring the narrator or lecturer the better. Impossible to stress over problems while listening to a guy lecture about submarine warfare in WWII. On the Godfather..... Like broccoli or brustle sprouts, Never liked them as a young person but have since acquired a taste for them. Those movies are darn entertaining to me now.
  6. Cookeville has daily traffic jams, there is a shortage of average 3 bedroom 2 bath homes under the 170s but most first time buyers I see are lucky to qualify for 100k. New hotels, restaurants and retail popping up and being planned. Farm land is turning into subdivisions everywhere you look in all directions. Now's the time to stake a claim in the surrounding communities if you want acreage to live on in this area. I see no end to the growth in the near future. I just hope the growth is from people who move here to assimilate a bit, not to change the culture in a progressive direction.
  7. BTW, I wish I never sold that mini. It was the A team wood folding stock stainless version. Worth a bit more than I paid for it or sold it for I imagine now.
  8. I have no problem with what the media is calling assault rifles in civilian hands. I have owned a mini14 in CA in 82. I have a few things now that you are insinuating I think should be outlawed. I left the west coast to escape the gun grabbers. Wrote lots of letters to my Representatives and tried to vote them out year after year. I think the ATF is ridiculous on most things. They owe bump stock manufacturers money IMO but... You seem to be irritated with me because I don't think it's a huge stretch for the general public to think a bump stock =machine gun. The general public is against machine guns in civilian hands I'm guessing. So basically I'm not surprised bump stocks are verboten now. Not agreeing just not surprised. Reagan was a mixed bag. So is Trump. The other side not so mixed on 2ndA issues. I know, I was surrounded by them and they are unified on anti-gun issues.
  9. In 4 years if current trends continue the 10 + acres might not be affordable. Welcome
  10. I knew that one was coming when I added it. Of course not. Read the whole post.
  11. So it's more the method used to rid the world of bump stocks than the actual loss of bump stocks that has everyone in a lather? Either way these devices were doomed from the start in IMO. Too close to full auto which was taken away long ago. The line has been drawn in the sand with Semi-auto and unless you live in a Prog State, that includes a pistol grip, full capacity mags and other features too. As well as the right to keep them at the ready outside of a range! Trump or his advisers know this. They know his base. He might talk stupid but he wants to win and knows how to win. He will defend that line in the sand better than any Democrat looking to be President right now. So don't fault Trump with trying to appease a some of his low information supporters on the fringe of his base if they don't want what seems like "machine guns" to them on the streets. He needs every vote. Hillary won't be running against him next time. The Dems will not allow it! Look at the big picture. Besides, were bump stocks really practical anyway??
  12. So it's not specific to bump stocks?
  13. (I feel that law is unconstitutional too) Bingo! I wouldn't disagree with you there.
  14. That's what they are doing. They finally got around to telling us that the bump stock, (in their opinion), turns a semi-auto into a machine gun and it's not going to be allowed because full auto is no longer allowed. No real law change just a catch up on things availiable now. We all know that a bump stock does not a machine gun make but it's pretty obvious it is a lame attempt to mimic full auto, and it works well in the right hands somewhat. I'm surprised no politician caught this earlier. Then again many are gun ignorant on the left. Now when they start putting vague language in the law that talks about "any alteration that can increase a rate of fire"...... That needs to be nipped in the bud! That can mean trigger jobs and other modest mods to make a gun run smoother and yes, a little faster maybe. I understood this law specifically mentioned Bump Stocks. I hope it did anyway. If not this law IS the slippery slope you all think it is!
  15. Welcome! Where are you retiring from? I'm meeting quite a few people coming here from NY, Illinois, CA, Michigan........ Mostly retired.
  16. If the goal post was no full auto for all this time, then a device was made to mimic full auto.... Now that device is illegal too. Then I don't see how the goal post was moved. Good to try not to give an inch though. It slows up the Prog March to ban semi-auto. So shhhhh about the beltloop thing.
  17. The guy I'm selling to just got his permit so no problem there. I did however sell a shotgun here awhile back to a coworker at a shop I worked at. Reasonable guy, steady job etc. Never gave a thought about transfer laws or if he was a felon or not till a few days later. Then I got to thinking..... Never went and asked, at that point it was too late. I also did a trade here in TN but that guy had recently purchased through an FFL so I'm ok there I guess.
  18. The scary part is he's not alone in his thinking. The left is normalizing the idea all semi-auto guns are "assault weapons." Yes!, even that old tube fed .22 gathering dust in the safe you got as a kid. And assault weapons if allowed for civilians at all should only be allowed at the range. Highly regulated and stored there forever and ever. Imagine having to get a permission slip and make an appointment to use your own rifle at an appointed range at an appointed time on an appointed lane. This particular common sense common ground BS idea is gaining more and more traction. Listen carefully....more and more of them are floating this idea. The Progs will get this restriction in Prog run States very soon I'm thinking. Sad to watch a population volunteer to disarm because the government promises to keep them safe.
  19. Good info! I finally acquired an SKS about a year ago on a trade. As with most SKS owners I pondered what it would take to make it take AK mags. Even though I prefer the fixed mag design. That's one of the unique features that made it desirable to me in the first place. Although it's not something I would ever do, I appreciate why people go this route. It's a bit of a skill challenge and... Because they can.
  20. I had a 69 with a 351 windsor. That car sucked! It kept getting speeding tickets. I know that car was tame compared to other Mustangs but I'm lucky to be alive after having that as my first car. It was as fast as anything my friends had and the lousy drum brakes took FOREVER to stop. 1964, the birth year of Mustang and myself!
  21. Well, I've decided to sell my .380 LCP to a guy at my Company. He's borrowed it to see if he likes it. I liked it but cant get accurate with it. I have no problem with the round or the tiny concealed concept but this gun wasn't for my hand. Question.... Here in TN no laws against face to face transfers yet, correct? No FFL middleman.
  22. Asinine law carried out in an asinine way! If a guy was/is a credible threat.....Then he needs to be locked up. So lets say the guy threatens to kill you because your dog keeps crapping in his yard. You call the Cops. Lets say cops somehow without a fight, manage to get all the guns they know of that he has. Would you feel safer then? What if your relative that lives far away calls you up drunk talking suicide because his wife left. Lets say cops somehow without a fight, manage to get all the guns they know of that he has. Would you stop worrying that he might kill himself? Despite registration laws some States have.... maybe the Stasi doesn't know of all the guns a guy has hidden away. After all....Orwell's "Big Brother" system hasn't been fully deployed here in the U.S. just yet! And if they manage to get all his guns? We all know there are more ways to kill oneself and others without firearms.
  23. R.I.P. ROY Amazing talent way before Hee-Haw Another celebrity so popular from my youth dies that a large section of the population had no clue who he was. I remember when Don Rickles died I went through 5 or 6 not exactly young people before I got a person who didn't say "who?" Same will happen with RC I'm guessing but ONE DAY it will happen with the Kardashians, and Beyonce and Taylor and all the other celebs that annoy me nowadays..... Time marches on.
