Well, the would-be superspys must have seen things in pretty good detail as they saw enough detail to know who shot their drone down as they later came to his house, calling him an 'S.O.B.' and so on. Personally, I would have blasted the thing out of the sky and then practiced the three 'S's (shoot, shovel and stfu.) "Drone? What drone? I have no idea what you are talking about. Surely you weren't using a drone to invade my family's privacy."

"Your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door"
JAB replied to gun sane's topic in General Chat
Pardon them? No. Put their asses to work in some capacity in a wage earning job - inside the prison if necessary (unless I am mistaken Brushy Mountain had an on-site program where the inmates made furniture) and make them pay for their own expenses just like those of us who aren't criminals have to do? Yes. -
Why not all of the above? Of course, you forgot the cheese. And I like ranch or bleu cheese dressing better than honey mustard (although honey mustard is great for dipping chicken fingers.)

"Your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door"
JAB replied to gun sane's topic in General Chat
Yep, before reading your post in my jaded state of mind the first thing I thought was, "Your next meal will be served through a small hole in a cell door. And it will be free. And so will your health care, dental care and your room and board. Well, not free, exactly - someone has to pay for it but don't worry, the taxpayers will pick up the tab." -
Not only was this an act of compassion but, IMO, it was good police work. She saw an unknown homeless person in a town where she knows most everyone and, instead of rolling up and starting to 'interrogate' him, she bought him breakfast and listened to his story - probably getting him to drop his guard and finding out more than she would have using the former method. Also, I would bet that such previous acts of kindness would go a long way to getting people to help her if she needs to find out information 'from the street' to help solve or prevent crime. Perhaps if this man - who is new to the town and likely doesn't know anyone - sees something that the police need to know about, he now has a friendly and possibly at least somewhat trusted contact on the police force to whom he knows he can safely talk. To me, being a known, friendly face who has the trust of her community is a much better way to do her job than acting like an occupying, military force.

Nice. I have always kind of leaned more toward the hunting, skinning or Bowie knife type blade when it came to fixed blades just because those were what I was familiar with growing up. Lately, though, I am coming to realize that I really like the look of a lot of the "camp knife" type blades more and that such blades are probably more 'useful' for an all-around, often carried knife.. I have long liked the drop-point blade style in folding 'sodbuster' type knives - both to look at and to use - and have come to realize that I like the same look in fixed blades.. I really like how this one sort of combines something of the look/strength of a drop point with the enhanced 'pointiness' of a clip point. Would you consider it to be a modified clip point or maybe a hybrid drop-clip?

I agree - and know they are darn fine tools. They just feel awkward as heck in my hands to the point that I don't shoot them very well.

They have an interesting shape that should be good for food prep chores and the like. They look to have plenty of finger clearance (as in your knuckles won't hit the cutting board before you can make use of the majority of the edge) and a good shape for chopping, at least smaller stuff (due to the blade length.) If they have good, strong blades and hold an edge well I could even see one of them as a simple belt knife, too. Nice find!

Regardless of how you feel about 'escorts' and other so-called 'sex workers' (personally, I don't feel it is anyone's business as long as the payer and payee are consenting adults), it looks like this lady may have taken out a serial killer, possibly saving not only her life but the lives of others and saving taxpayers the eventual expense of putting him on trial (that is, assuming he was ever caught.) http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/west-virginia-woman-who-shot-alleged-attacker-may-have-slain-serial-killer/ar-AAduEL6?ocid=ansWashpost11

L.A. police find stash of 1,200 guns in dead man's home
JAB replied to tennesseetiger's topic in General Chat
The L.A. Times article that DaveTN linked, above, stated that: and that: So the guy didn't own the townhouse, his fiance did. Therefore, the police entered HER house and took a few hundred thousand dollars worth of property, which even they admit was not illegal, from HER home - apparently without her knowledge or consent. And a lot of folks are, apparently, not only okay with that but think it was the right thing to do? Wow. -
I noticed that some folks in the comments section below the article were saying that this was a fake article first published by the parody site 'World News Daily Report'. Didn't think to check it out on Snopes, though, because I figured it was too new to be on there, yet. So, that is the second parody/hoax picked up and reported as 'real' by other new sites. There was also, recently, a report on 'real' news sites (which, I believe, also originated with World News Daily Report) that Ted Nugent and Kid Rock were teaming up to do a song called 'Kiss My Rebel A$$' in response to all the calls to ban the Confederate Battle Flag. The story went that Nugent was 'inspired' when he heard that Kid Rock had told some folks who were protesting his use of that flag at his concerts to, "Kiss my a$$." Thing is, although the whole song this was a hoax, Kid Rock really did have that response for people protesting his use of the flag at his concerts..

Not just west TN. I have noticed a larger number of them than usual this year, as well. Not so much in the city but out in the rural area on the Roane/Loudon County line where I live. I normally see them mostly around bodies of water when fishing with only a few elsewhere but this year I have seen several in my yard and other places not right around the water. Not an inordinate number but certainly more than I normally see. Some of them have also been noticeably larger than I normally see, as well. I guess conditions were just 'right' for them this year. On the way home the other day, on one of the back roads I drive getting there, I noticed a really big one flying alongside my truck for quite a distance (hmmmm - maybe they really are robotic drones!)

As far as big chain pizza goes, I kinda like Papa John's. It's worlds better than Domino's or Pizza Hut (which used to be good but not anymore.) I have never noticed a posting on the Papa John's where I occasionally get pizza. Maybe that is because it has no 'dine-in' option, whatsoever and is strictily carry-out/delivery - but then, again, I think a lot of Papa Joh's locations are set up like that. Of course, to paraphrase a quote from OhShoot that I really liked, I don't go to a carry-out pizza joint to read so maybe it is there and I have just never noticed it. I don't think so, however. I prefer Mama Mia's in Kingston (the owner is an older German lady whose father in law was Irish and whose mother in law, who taught her how to cook Italian dishes, was Italian - she makes the sausage for the pizzas in-house) and Romeo's in Loudon (both apparently make the crust in-house) to the big chains, though. My 'usual' at either is a salami (I like it better than pepperoni) and sausage. Great, now I want pizza.

Not only feasible - at least one revovler version exists, sort of. There is a conversion cylinder available for the old Nagant revolvers that is made to allow them to chamber/fire .32ACP. The only problem is that with some guns they are, apparently, simply a drop in part while in others some minor gunsmithing is required. To the best of my recollection, the .32ACP cylinders aren't all that expensive and the revolvers don't cost much, either (although the prices seem to have gone up a good bit in the last year or two.) Some people claim to have fired .32 H&R Magnum out of Nagants using the original cylinder with no problems, whatsoever. I am not that brave - but I do, sometimes, fire .32 Long out of mine with no issues (not a recommendation to anyone else, just saying that I do it in mine, sometimes.)

The first thing I would have to ask myself would be, "Why is the .22WMR bolt $80 more than the LR bolt?" I mean, I know that sometimes companies will jack up the price for just about an identical item - such as auto parts, for example (sometimes the OEM part for an auto maker's 'premium' line can cost more than the same part for its regular line, like the same part costing more if it is 'for' a Cadillac than if it is for a Chevy - and the Chevy part is identical and will work fine on the Caddillac.) However, in this case I would suspect there is more to the price difference than that. In other words, maybe it is due to the heat treating you mentioned, maybe it is due to using diffrent (better?) materials or whatever but I suspect there is a good reason the WMR bolt costs more and that same reason would probably mean it wouldn't be such a good idea to replace it with a LR part.

Finally found something you guys need from the Amazon sale

So THAT'S how Santa manages to slide down those tight-fitting chimneys! Hah - y'all will never watch Rudolph with quite the same mindset, again. -
Except it would be funny if every gun shop in Seattle (I wonder how many there are - I would guess not many given the obvious attitude toward such legitimate businesses in that town) moved to storefronts that were, say, five feet (or the closest they could get, anyhow) outside of Seattle's jurisdiction.

Gun bans coming to some social security recipients
JAB replied to Sam1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just to throw this out there, it isn't just senior citizens who receive social security. The guy receiving disability because he is crazier than a soup sandwich and whose goldfish tells him that God wants him to kill people? Yeah, that guy is receiving social security. Further, I used to work at an agency that served adults with mental disabilities (mental retardation and so on.) Many of our clients who were not senior citizens received lifelong social security benefits of one kind or another from a very early age. When television and movies show you the stereotypical 'happy, if a little goofy retarded person' they don't tell you that mental retardation (more often than not) comes with one or more mental illnesses ranging from being bipolar to violent personality disorders. I even had one client who I swear was psychotic (he had tried to poison his mother on at least one occasion when she was still living and he lived with her) and another who had multiple personalities. In all cases, these folks needed other people to manage their affairs - medical, financial and so on. Now, I am about as much against infringing on the Second Amendment as a person can be but trust me, you do not want those folks owning firearms. Of course, unless I am mistaken the background check form already has a question about having been adjuticated as mentally incompetent so - as the clients who were severely incapacitated had a conservator, meaning they had been adjuticated as being incompetent - I would think that would already be covered. Now, I am not saying that there isn't the potential for abuse of such measures as Obummer is proposing. After all, we are talking about the federal government and they will twist and abuse anything and everything to attain their goals. I am just saying that, on the face of it, there might be some wisdom in restricting firearms access for people who are mentally incompetent to the point that they can't manage their own affairs. The problem is that it is the government who largely decides who is that incompetent so all they have to do is declare someone to be of that level of incompetence - whether the person really is or not - and then strip them of their Second Amendment rights. -
A transgender rifle? So, set the AK up to fire 5.56 and use AR mags?

I hate Apple, in general, because they lock everything down so much. With my Android phone I can purchase/download music from Google Play or Amazon Music (which is my preference.) From the Amazon Music Store, music I purchase goes into their Cloud where I can access it from any device that has Internet service simply by logging in and I can also download that music to my phone, pad, desktop, laptop or wherever I want and as many devices as I want and it is very easy to do. I haven't done it, yet, but I'm guessing I could also burn the music to physical CDs to play in my vehicles as they don't have blue-tooth or auxilary plug-in ports on the stereos. I got an iPod waaaay back when the video iPod first came out and they were just about the only game in town but have never liked how restrictive Apple is.. I have a program on my computer that basically hacks the iPod to allow me to more easily move/add/remove music just like I can with pretty much any, other MP3 player that doesn't have to be hacked to work properly. I use it to manage the files on the iPod without using their stupid, restrictive Apple software and jumping through all the Jobsian hoops that Apple tries to require. Even so, I honestly haven't even used my iPod in nearly a year. I haven't used iTunes in probably five years or more and it might actually be closer to ten. I just stopped downloading music and went back to buying CDs and loading them on to the iPod until I recently got onto Amazon Music.

Ex-CNN Host's Husband Involved in Shoot-Out At Motel 6
JAB replied to waynesan's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
By Lynne Russell's own account - in an article written by her - the gun used to defend the couple's lives and stop/kill the bad guy was a .380. Yep, believe it or not those .380 rounds didn't just bounce off the BG's t-shirt. In fact, they proved pretty effective. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2015/07/08/theres-no-debate-about-guns-im-alive-and-so-is-my-husband-because-had-one-in-my-purse.html Just to clarify based on her own account, she states that she and her husband had brought two legal .380s into the room. She says nothing about her husband using a 9mm at any time. Further, while she states that her husband emptied one of the .380s she doesn't indicate that he used more than the one gun. I think her husband likely qualifies as one of the 'card carrying badasses' that Cruel Hand Luke referred to earlier. I mean, the guy had just gotten out of the shower and, according to Ms. Russell, was "stark naked and dripping wet". I mean, could a person possibly be much more vulnerable, both physically and mentally, yet he responded to deadly force with equally deadly force, survived taking five rounds from the BG and killed said BG. -
Letter from Department of Safety and Homeland Security
JAB replied to DWARREN123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The Department of Safety and Homeland Security (previously simply The Department of Safety) are the folks that issue drivers' licenses. They also issue handgun carry permits. The TBI handles TICS to do background checks when purchasing a firearm and almost certainly provides info to the Department of Safety regarding the eligibility of an individual for an hcp but doesn't issue handgun carry permits. -
Glad to hear everything went well and you had a good time. Also glad to hear that you didn't have any need to use the gun I honestly believe (and sincerely hope) that I will never need a firearm to deal with anything more than non-human varmints and vermin with the only, real threat being to my chickens, etc. However, I also realize that if I do need a gun then I really NEED a gun and it isn't going to do me any good at home or in my vehicle. I am possibly overly concientious about carrying whenever I can as I cannot (by law) carry at work so I really want to carry at other times.
