  1. Casing. Cell phone pic of the car next outing, if they're back. Talk to the more alert neighbors. Anyone with security cameras to record? If somebody could make some calls next time they're seen and have quite a few residents come on out, might pass the hint to move on to easier pickins. OR...you could just find the car and "remove it from the gene pool.":tough:
  2. Just to clarify, I did get the Smith 586, he wouldn't come down off of 500 and I knew he would get that from someone, judging by what they've been selling for on the auction site. So, I traded into it. Piece that I had only 300 in plus some boot. Got him down to 400 that way. Very pleased with it. Now I've ordered a Ruger SP101. Couldn't stand it anymore. Bowed out of the one on the auction site. A few got into a bidding war and drove the price up to 376. I just refused to pay that for a used one. Hard-headed I am! Got a friend who's an FFL. Cheapest he could find it was 396 plus tax and shipping. His distributor only had 3 left, so I went ahead and ordered it. Should be in tomorrow.
  3. Searching for a Smith or Ruger 357 and ran across the Smith and Wesson 520 on Gunbroker. Anyone know anything about them? Appears Smith ran them for a while, but I don't find them on the site now. What are they worth? Pros/Cons? Thanks
  4. YeeeeHaaawww! Picked up a Smith 586 a couple days ago! 6" barrel. Looks like it hasn't been shot very much at all. Now for a Wolfe spring kit. Ruger SP101 is next on the list. Gotta find some good ammo now, got a few boxes put back, but that ain't nearly enough!
  5. Well I am planning for just that. I do want a 4 or 6" six gun though, mostly for woods use. Tough decision with the money limitations and all. Found a half decent deal on the 586 6", so that would do for any handgun hunting I would need to do here in TN. Plus a 357 is a little cheaper to feed than the 44's I had. I say "half decent" because it is a little steep for my meager budget: 586 "no dash" 6" with Pachmayr and wood grips and 2 or 3 speed loaders, he's asking 500. But I do really want that 101 though, with the 3" barrel. I plan on using it for duty backup and for off duty carry, so I'll get a whole lot of use out of it year round. I agree fully, it is "absotively, posilutley" a fine piece.
  6. I read something on here about the older model 19 K frames not being quite strong enough to handle a steady diet of full house 357. Did Smith correct or improve this in later years? What about Smith's model 66 and the metallurgy on that one? Is it strong enough? I'm steadily looking for a good 357. Or a good pair of them. I really prefer a Ruger. I'm thinking about bidding on an SP101 on one of the auction sites, but I do like the Smiths too. I'm going Monday to look at a Smith 586 with a 6" barrel. But I want to get away from carrying the department's G23 off duty, 'cause I'd REALLY rather be packin' a revolver! So I'll need one a little more compact than that 586, something with the 2.5 or 3" barrel. Hope I can get this 101, but, if not, I might consider a Smith model 66 2.5". Hence the long, drawn out question I could have asked in about one line or so! Thanks, Rick
  7. Does anyone have a list of the ammo these polititians in all their wisdom want to have microstamped. I read the bill, I think it passed in TN, not sure though. But, I can't seem to find a list of the ammo they want microstamped. It says all handgun and "assault weapon" ammo. I know their definition of an "assault weapon" could be as little as a Cricket .22, but I would like to find a list of calibers they have in mind. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rick
  8. TOO MUCH... is almost enough.
  9. I tend to agree. I have been through several AR's and have gotten rid of them all. Most of my friends love them, but I just could not get myself to completely trust them, even while hunting. Just personal preference, I know, but I want to be comfortable with what I'm carrying. So I'm back to packin' my bolt guns or lever guns in the woods now. No worries! I'm issued a glock 23 and a bushmaster carbine at work, along with a 38 snub and a mossberg 590. You can guess which 2 I really trust. My chief knows I'd carry a good 357 mag for primary duty if he'd let me get away with it. I do have a sig220 that I really enjoy, but I am looking for a Smith or preferrably a Ruger 357 4" if ya'll know anyone looking to sell one.
  10. Not trying to interfere, being the NG and all, but won't you run out of brothers at that rate? Just kidd'n Used to have an sp101. Very pleasant to shoot with either 38s or full house 357s. Let that one get away during my foolish days.
  11. next
  12. Just found this site while searching the other day. Hope I can find some very useful info here. Looks like I will! Carry a G23 at work, some when I'm off. I'll pack the Sig220 some. I am looking for a good Smith or Ruger 4" 357 though (my personal favorite hangun caliber). Love to shoot and hunt and spend time with my boys cuz "Daddy" is my most important job. So howdy all from Erin, TN!
