  1. You might consider taking your attorney with you. You know, just to look more "professional." Just a thought. Next thought: It's none of that "guidance counselor's" dad-gum business what you have in your home. When I was in school (sometime back around the Civil War) we never got asked questions like that by our guidance counselor. Now, uh, there WERE a few questions I would have liked to ask HER! By the way, outstanding job with your parenting!
  2. Tried to find an authorized UPS shipping center to ship a firearm. Called the Clarksville hub. Woman that answered stated it would have to go to a dealer. Explained to her that fed law states, from what I understand, that one eligible human can ship a firearm directly to another eligible human as long as they are both within the same state. Didn't matter. It was her job at UPS to state that this was their policy, regardless of what fed law allowed. What the heck?! I may have a buyer for one or both of my firearms, he's on the other side of the state, and I was just trying to save him a little money and split the shipping with him. As long as he and I both know that each other has nothing prohibiting either of us from owning or selling one, it shouldn't be a problem. What's the deal here? I know each and every company out there has every right to set their own policies, but this just has me hacked off. Any and all FFL's on here are more than welcome to chime in. I just want to know if my viewpoint is wrong, or is this really screwed up? Yes, by the way, I'm slightly angry. I'll get out of the office here and drink some Dr. Pepper and chew on some Copenhagen for a while and calm down while waiting for ya'll to either get mad with me or set me straight, either one. Just need to know where I stand. Rick

  14. Yeah we think you guys are NUTS for that. Of course ya'll think we're nuts for running to gunfire instead of away. Ya'll seem either warped:screwy: :screwy:or incredibly dedicated:usa: for running into, what, 1200, 1400 degree:death: heat:eek:? But it's a job that has to be done. I know if my house were on fire (God forbid) it's not my fellow ossifers I'd be calling, cause we can't put out a fire with a pair of cuffs. SO, not to hijack the thread, but I'll throw a little genuine thanks in here for the BurnMasters. Hats off to ya. Rick
  15. Thanks guys very much for those words. Thankfully I work in a small community where I can literally stop by and waste a little time on people's porches and I sometimes do hear those words. But you're right, it is very seldom most of the time. And by the way, WELCOME TO TGO MR. DAVID COLE. Great place to be from what I've seen. I'll send you a PM. Thanks again fellers. Rick Cumberland City PD
  16. Yeah, baby, yeah! Is she available in the near future to try to talk some common sense into my wife? I'll gladly pay for the gas and lunch for the two of them, and supper, cause if she gets anything at all through my wife's hard head, it'll take her all day.
  17. Speer 180 Gold Dot .40 in the issue weapon. Speer 125 Gold Dot .357 in the SP101.
  18. "My first Glock.....My head is already swelling" Yeah that happens a lot when you don't have a correct grip and the front sight bonks your forehead during recoil. Seriously though, very nice piece. I wish we were issued the fullsize instead of the 23. Congrats.
  19. AMEN BROTHER! PREACH ON!
  20. Yep, Uh-Huh, and as the outlaw Josey Wales says "I reckon so!" Count me in. I've never said anything anyway. By the way, is Chili's in Clarksville posted? I'm not gonna look for the sign anyway, just like to know.
  21. Howdy and welcome aboard from Erin!
  22. Pretty much everything I was gonna say has been said here. I have about 14 years in, and I can already tell a marked difference in my health. It does affect you. If you think everyone that stays in turns corrupt you're wrong. You can stand alone in that regard, but it does make it hard on you. Meaning standing up for what is right. Unfortunately, I do see a great many cases in which that statement is correct, just keep in mind it's not 100% correct. If I were to sit down and try to think of all the officers in my county and surrounding counties I know, and pick the ones I would trust completely, I could probably count them on one finger. Not a good ratio. So I can see why you would think that way, and I don't blame you. It is a very thankless job. I do love the work I do most of the time, but it does get old. Heck, I've even stopped eating donuts because of this job! You do deal with the dregs of society, put your life on the line on a daily basis, and have to deal with a whole lot of stress. But, sometimes there comes along that one case where you can really help someone in need and maybe actually make a difference in someone's life and see good results from it, and at that point it just kinda all seems worth it.
  23. Thanks for that great piece of info gcrookston. I talked to a buddy of mine today who works at Sabre Defense in Nastyville. According to him, Sabre makes most all their own stuff now, including some handguards. Some of the smaller stuff like springs are still farmed out though. I may be able to get a complete upper from him to get started. He's supposed to call me back when he goes through some of his stuff this week. That'll keep my cost way down. Just need to find a good deal on a good lower (like to find a Sabre lower somewhere to match) and then start gathering my parts.
  24. Been looking around a little, haven't seen this, so if it's already on here I apologize. I'm thinking about trying another build to keep cost down, so, as far as AR parts are concerned, who actually makes what. I've seen some good reviews on here for Spikes tactical and Tactical Innovations lowers, I'm not familiar with those. I've also seen good comments about Smith and Wesson lowers and rifle. Now, when they first came out I always heard they were garbage. Are they good now? So the question is, who actually machines out the upper and lower receivers for "Acme Whizbang Tacticool" and all the others. Also, I used to know just a little about the forge markings. What's the story on these? I know it indicates who machined it, but how do you decipher them? Such as the keyhole, the bent/broken A, etc., etc.? Side note: Anyone here have any experience with Sabre Defense?
