Thank you to all the Veterans of all branches. Your service and sacrifice are greatly appreciated. There's no way this country can repay the debt that is owed to it's veterans.

Finally! I just completed my first AR build yesterday! Bought a Sun Devil lower, RRA lower kit, MagPul MIAD grip, Matech flip sight, Aimpoint M2, and flat top Sabre Defense upper. Put it all in the bag, shook it, baked for 1/2 hour at 350, let cool on rack. I'm just pickled tink now!

Thanks for all the encouragement. It helps a lot. Sorry bout the delayed response. Home phone service in my neighborhood went out not long after I posted. To answer some questions: No, unfortunately, through every fault of my own:rolleyes: I don't have a degree. Wish I did. I would be interested in some types of the security work, but I can't travel or relocate. I have my two young children at home and it kills me to go places away from them for training for a few days at a time as it is. I've really thought about companies like Blackwater/SPGlobal/DynCorp, but I don't know if I could land anything close to home. I know DynCorp does something at Ft. Campbell, but that company seems really advanced and I just don't know if I have the right skill set for them. Granted, if I were single with no family, it would be no brainer. Most of my training has been in this business - investigations, firearms:koolaid:, SWAT training, some sniper training when I filled that position for a while. BUT, I wouldn't trade my family for anything in the world, so, I need to stay close to home. Other than police training, I just have a class A CDL. That, and I have really good people skills:bat:.

No. Only state retirement at 20 or 25 yrs. That period depends on your time of service at agencies actually on the state retirement system. Just seems like a waste of 15 years that I can't get back.

Hey folks, a little help/advice here. I'm 41 years old and looking toward a career change. I've been a police officer for close to 15 years now. I'll tell ya, the stress and low pay have taken their toll. I'd like to get into a different line of work, something more peaceful and more profitable for the family. I live in the MidTN area, about 40min southwest of Clarksville. I'm trying to decide which areas to concentrate on. Looking for daytime work so I can be home with family at night, like a Daddy's supposed to be, of course something less stressful than LE, and something that would pay enough to make it worth the entire uprooting. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks Rick

BATFE ACKNOWLEDGES A NATIONWIDE DATABASE OF GUN OWNERS
res308 replied to Tim Nunan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I was following up on a case one time and called the Arrogant Tin-pan Fornicators to ask about a feller involved. Was checking to see if they kept a record of firearms and their owners. I got a long, drawn out denial of such from the woman on the other end of the line. "Everyone thinks we (ATF) keeps this massive data-base of firearms purchases and we do not." Now, of course I'm shocked to find out they lied! -
I'll take that knife off yer hands when you get done propping that .45 up on it.

Sorry for the late reply here. I have looked into the DPX, but they are just too expensive. Especially when I can get the Double Tap 124+P in a 50 round box for about the same price.

Preach on brother, preach on!

Those were, uhh, I mean that was boobry, I mean very, uhh, informative. Especially the part in the tittle - dang it! - I mean title, where it says how to get mamaried, uhhh, I mean how to tit, I mean not to git murdered. Too bad she didn't say anything. Did she say anything? All I have is two large dents in my monitor screen from those nipp...,uuhhh, I mean, that knife! Did she have a knife?

Doesn't that get you beaten regularly at home?

Defensive pistol: 9mm or 45 308 or 30-06 bolt 12 gauge AK .22 rifle
-
That's the thing. Just what is a decent price on these? Anyone know?
-
I'm expecting a phone call from a dude tomorrow on one of these AK's. Anyone know anything about them as far as quality, workmanship, what they usually sell for?
-
Yup, you're right. Kinda came to that decision not long after I made this post. I've decided to forget about trading for a Glock. Even though they're good pistols, I do believe I'd regret that. I may have an opportunity next week on a very nice 92.
-
That's entirely too nice for you Hat! You need to send it to me ASAP before you poke your eye out with it! Very good choice. If I had my druthers, I'd forget all about wanting an AR or AK and get the M1A Scout.
-
Yeah, I do understand that. I do like the 226, but like the Beretta as well. I shoot very well with the Beretta. Just thought it would be nice to have sort of a "matched pair."
-
Forgot to mention: I do carry a Glock at work ( a 23), but off duty I prefer to carry my beloved Beretta 92FS. That one's a dang fine shooter.
-
I'm gonna take an informal poll here. Mods, don't take this as a sale ad. If I make a decision on this I'll post it in classifieds. Opinions: What kind of handgun package do ya'll think I could trade my Sig226 9mm for? According to the serial number, it should be about a 1990 issue. I know some folks like the older ones better than the new ones. It's in good shape and has 3 15 round SigSauer mags with it. I'm thinking of doing this, but unsure of the value vs. whatever trade. I was sort of thinking of a Glock 17 or 34 or maybe 17L. Dunno yet. I wouldn't give it away of course. I'd want a good solid package in return, perhaps 3 or 4 Glocks (joke). Tell me what your thoughts are or advice is. I'll make a decision shortly and place it in classifieds afterward. Keep in mind that it's gonna hurt my feelings to let it go, but I'm doing this for logistical purposes. In other words, I wouldn't trade it for just anything. Thanks Edited to add: OR! I've become so fond of shooting and carrying my Beretta 92FS, I might consider trading the Sig 226 for another 92FS, as long as the 92 is in reeeeely good shape!

Wow! 63 people have viewed this so far and nobody's got any advice?

I've posted an add on ###.com trying to trade my Ruger Mini 14 for a good AK. I've gotten one response so far (just listed Tuesday) from a guy wanting to trade me a Romanian. Says he bought it from a guy whose grandfather gave it to him and that it's about 10 years old and in "perfect shape." He asked for pictures of the Mini and I sent them. Said it looks good and wanted to trade rifles and ammo. Interesting, but, since I replied asking him for photos of the Romanian, and if it was a single stack model or a conversion, I haven't heard back from him (yet). I'll wait and see what happens here. But, the question I have is what do I need to look for or watch out for on the Romanians? Just in case another one comes up. I should probably list a price for it on there, but the Minis seem to be selling slow right now from my experience. Just thought I might have better luck trading. So, skool me on AK's.

I tried to have some French toast this morning. But, it retreated and surrendered somewhere else and I couldn't find it:surrender:! Took my bacon with it too!

Amazing Grace performed at the Roman Coliseum. A place where IIRC thousands of Christians died. Nice turn-around. http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1785324681/bclid1338935106/bctid1913313052
