  1. Looking for some load data for .357 and .38 special, both using 158 grain JHP. Most of the 158 .357 I use is advertised as around 1250 FPS. I'd like to stay around that. Also trying to come up with what some folks used to call a heavy or hot .38 load. I guess in the upper +p range. STOUT in other words. I was very envious the other day when I saw that Buffalo Bore has a .38 round called the Outdoorsman with a 158gr (I think) Kieth bullet running about 1250. I ain't figured out how they're doing it, and I ain't gonna chance trying to get up that high by experimentation. These will be shot in a Ruger SP101 and a Smith 686, maybe the Smith 65 as well. Thanks
  2. NO! I cannot stand the thought of 4 more years with this Marxist/Fascist Muslim. I'd rather vote for the lesser of two evils than to vote for the evil of two lessers. I can't stand Romney either, but that's who I'll vote for.
  3. That leatherwork looks top notch! I don't believe I have seen better work for sale commercially. I don't know who that is wearing the suspenders, but it got me to thinking. Those ole wheelguns ain't light. Wonder if you could rig up some loops on the belt for the suspenders. Wish I could do work that good. Congrats.
  4. Yeah, see, I'm all about leaving the character of a gun intact. I've even restained gun stocks and intentionally left the dings visible just for that reason. I like that stuff. And I enjoy fixing stuff myself if I can. I'll have to see if I can find the digital cameral around here, if it even works, and post some pics of the damaged area. Due to the location of the damage, I'm not sure if I can tackle it, or if it's even feasable to try.
  5. I have an old Glenfield Marlin 30-30 with the short magazine tube. Good slick action and probably the best trigger I've felt on a lever. But, it has the stock and forearm with all the carving. Not much on that stuff, but it's there. The buttstock has one of the little tabs broken off where it slides onto the frame, and the stock is sticking out slightly where it meets the receiver on the right side. I'd like to replace the entire set if I can, and go to plain walnut. I know of course that the standard Marlin buttstock will fit, but the forearm attaches differently than the full length mag tube models. I haven't looked around for a set in a while. I had checked a while back and gave up. Any ideas?
  6. Yeah, and I forgot about that BeeZid commercial.
  7. Can I have another glass of that please?

    Snakes

Wow. I'm busy for a few days, then come back and see this. I really must have missed something.
  9. Worst offender for me are those STUPID, horribly acted reality skit Bart Durham commercials. I've also come to hate the ones with Flo the Progressive Ho. Any feminine hygene commercial. I really don't want to hear about this while I'm trying to eat dinner while watching Gunsmoke! And for the record, I also HATE those two boneheads in the Sonic commercials.
  10. Ya dog. You shoulda hollered. I was working this evening. Probably passed right by you. Good haul there. Were you on the catwalk?
  11. Revolver and lever gun in .357 is what I was going to suggest as well.
  12. Dang fine looking Mini. I've always liked those.
  13. Yeah, we seem to have that problem here in Cumberland City every so often, when they get run out of other towns.
  14. Can I be the second to ask?
  15. I recently aquired a later issue (probably '80's?) Colt Detective Special in .38. Nice little piece I guess. Finish is not what I call perfect, but not too bad. I just don't like it as much as I thought I would. You know, after I just HAD to have it (because it was a Colt). Would anyone here be interested in me posting this thing? Keep in mind, this is NOT a sale ad right here, and I won't sell it to anyone here until I post an ad. But, if anyone's interested, I'll post it in the sale section and see what happens. I'll set the price (I have one in mind) and put up some pictures, and if anyone has an opinion on the price or the .38 as far as condition, then shoot me a PM, I'm open to good advice on it from knowlegeable folks.
  16. I got a real nice AR I'd trade (I don't really have one). I'd trade it for the box cause I can't afford the shotgun. I can forge a note from my Mother next week if you can hold it, or you can get the note from kwik's mother when you see her again. Mom said I can tell you that "I'll take it" and get your hopes up, and then when you post "trade pending" or "traded" and tell me "OK, let's do it, when/where can we meet", you'll NEVER hear from me again, and you'll NEVER be able to make contact with me by any means whatsoever, and then you'll have to start all over. Mom said it's OK to do that since everyone else does it too when someone's trying to sell or trade something. Sent from my boss's office using his keyboard while picking my nose.
  17. Definite improvement!
  18. I had one several years ago. Alas, I was stupid enough to let it go.

    .357 MAG

Looks identical to mine. I just picked one up on Tuesday. Older 686 "no dash." Trigger is very smmmooooooooth. I think you'll be very happy with the 686. I do want to find an SP101 sometime though, along with a Smith 65, and a 19, and a 27, and a 29, and a 15, and a 64, and a 10, and a 66, and a Colt Python, and a Cobra, and .....................................................................................................
  20. Thanks, gentlemen. I don't really think this is something I'll ever do. Sometimes we just need a little encouragement and some fellow shootists to talk some sense into us. I still like 'em better though.
  21. Yeah. Might as well go ahead and set an empty box aside for the holster collection. You might get lucky and hit upon the "right" one for you. Then again, you might be like the rest of us. I can recommend a Crossbreed Supertuck Delux, since that's what I have. But it may not be right for you. Like someone else said, see if you can try some (meaning: borrow them to wear for a week or two) before you buy. Good hunting.
  22. Well, now there's a gun with some serious character! And I like the way Memphis put that, too.
  23. I'm thinking of going back to revolvers, since that's what I love, and I shoot them better anyway. I'm thinking of letting go of my kit to do this, but, the question is: Would this be a wise thing to do at this point in time? I have a Glock 17 gen 3 right now, with 3000 or more rounds - including hollowpoint and FMJ, 15 or 20 mags, Advantage Arms .22 conversion with 10 mags. I've often made the statement that I'd certainly be content if all I had were revolvers. Every time we go to the range, it's usually several different departments attending. I'll consistently outshoot most of the others there, and outshoot myself between the issued G23 and the backup .38. All that to say that I've always been more confident and competent with a revolver. And before there's any smart comments about police being lousy shooters, well, there are some there. But, we also have some darn good shooters, including me. In other words, I could be content spending the rest of my life with some good quality revolvers. Plus, I'm wanting to train my boys up on them as well. And, I also like the fact that I don't have to spend any money I may have on mags, and spend it on ammo instead. I'm kind of on the fence about this right now, so I'm asking for good, common-sense opinions from those on here with some good common sense.
