Trigger job on Block 20 Gen 4 - recommendations?
res308 replied to Jared Hensley's topic in Handguns
From what I've heard from others, check out the Suarez triggers. His stuff is top quality and reasonably priced compared to others. https://suarezinternational.com/ -
Yeah! More Gooder!

I just got one of these two days ago. Mine has the black controls. I plan to change a few things out, such as Wilson short trigger, skeleton hammer, and a few springs to start. I just got to shoot it today. Sort of made me want to throw my Glock 19 under a truck tire. I'm glad you mentioned the X-grip. Where can I find those? Very good looking shoot'n iron by the way.

I wouldn't be so much worried about sights being dim as long as it's in good shape. Who knows, I may just go with a standard 640 or even a 60. Quantico has a decent LE price, and I think I'll call King's in Columbia on Monday. I hear they have some pretty good pricing. I do dearly love my 686PC, but it has (had) the lock, and I'm like you in that I'd really prefer an older one.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. But....... Where is the best place to find a good Smith 640 or especially the 640 Pro? I've been wanting one for a good bit, but the Pro is usually pricey. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to go for a used one at all, but you just don't see them come up very often.

Bacon is the world's most precious natural resource. And I WILL fight fer it!

'Nuther question for those with Sig experience. Some have the long extractor, and some have what I guess is the newer short extractor. Which one is better, or should I avoid one or the other?
-
I've never handled a Sig with the DAK. I've never heard anything good about them, but that's about all I know. However, I've never heard anything but good about Sig's SRT. I have thought that if I did wind up with another Sig, the first things I would do would be the short trigger and the SRT. Besides, I might know a gunsmith who's a Sig armorer and knows the Legion trigger job, so I can probably imagine it's first destination.
-
You're gonna keep on til you sway me into a Sig with SRT purchase aren't you?

Steelharp, I have your answer, but, you already know the answer to your own question. But in case you don't I'll be glad to inform you. You see Jerry's finger there? That's it, the one on the trigger. Well see, that finger of his is much like Chuck Norris' beard. That revolver there knows that it has a reset from the factory, then it knows that it's reset has been tuned by Jerry. BUT, it also knows that none of that matters, because it knows that the reset dang well better be whatever Jerry's finger says it is. Otherwise..........well I just don't want to think about that.

I'm starting my studies on the 226. I've owned one before, but it's been a long time ago. I'm thinking I want another one. I'm going to gather my Glock 19 FDE and all the crap together at some point and get ready to put it toward a Sig (or?). Looking a while down the road. I have owned somewhere north of 1,459,726 1/2 Glocks (it seems) of various calibers over the years, and I've been issued Glocks for the last 20 years, and I've gone through the Glock armorer's course. So I KNOW the Glocks. I know there mostly reliable, and I know there have been some problems. (Thought I'd get all that out of the way first) But I am TIRED of them! And I mean really tired of them. So tired that I seem to be developing some kind of angst agin 'em that's been gathering steam for quite some time (years) now. So maybe it is time for something different. I like the Beretta's I've owned, and there's certain things about them that I dislike, just like any other gun. Pretty well know the platform. I believe I like the Sig 226 or 228 better. And, of course, when my lustful eye falleth upon a CZ 75 I get a........well never mind that, but I really like them. I'd have to decide between the standard and omega systems. So, my choice is twixt these three. I know there are fans of the newer Sigs, and fans of the older west Germans. Amongst the Sigs, what do I need to look for, and which ones do I need to stay away from? Or would I be better off just concentrating on Beretta or CZ? Obviously I just thought I'd come here and vent and be considerate enough to allow ya'll to take part in my misery.

Kind of leaning back toward old school. 20" or less, but not less than 18", with iron sights. Wouldn't mind getting a Ruger Scout, I'd prefer the one with the polymer stock. Problem is that they don't offer it in the configuration I'd want. Seems you can get a stainless with the 18" barrel with the laminated stock, but not with the polymer. Also thinking about the Savage. A Remington Model 7 would fit the bill too. I forgot to mention that I really want a Marlin .45-70. Maybe the Guide gun, cause I like a straight stock and lever, but I also like the full length mag tubes of the ABL and GBL. I really like the Cowboy, but that 26" barrel is just not as handy.

I'm considering, and keep looking at, the Smith 640 Pro. And I need a good bolt action .308. And a Mossberg 590A1 with the 18.5" barrel. And the new Smith Model 66 3". And a good .22 rifle, maybe the Ruger 'Murican. Priority for this year would be the 640 and .308.

Craziest Trade offer Someone has tried to get you to do

Don't know if it counts or not, but if it's someone I know I'll usually start the bartering with an offer of a rusty hatchet and a half-eaten cheese burger. -

Why the heck did you post that? And why the heck did I click on it? And where is my eye bleach? -
I got the same one. Guess I could go the C&K route (Circle with Krylon).

Ohhhhh don't I know it! I still miss my nickel Model 19 2 1/2 I had many years ago. A model 60 or 640 is next on the list though.

Here tis. I was trying to upload a couple more pictures of it, including the holster I made, but it won't let me upload. Keeps saying I'm only allowed to upload 10kb.

It's the 7 round. I'll have to get on the computer and edit the photos so I can load them here.

Well, I finally did it. Thanks to a fine gentleman on here I lucked into a Smith and Wesson Performance Center 686 Plus 2 1/2". Figured I better not pass it up. I would show it, but I can't seem to get it to work on this dang phone.

Now that there's a nice brace too!

A friend of mine has a Colt Trooper that belonged to his father. He wanted me to take it home and "work on it." I still don't know if he thought it needed trigger work, or what. I felt the lockwork, opened it up, looked at it, and thought "there's nothing to do here." That thing was as smooth as anyone could ask for. I'll confess that I really had a hard time trying to keep from talking him out of it. I was impressed.

Don't get the SP-01. It's heavy and wonderful and it makes you not want to shoot anything else. I had a 686-4 some time ago, but I sold it to fund a project for my son. My 686-1 has some sentimental value to it, but I almost wish I had sold it and kept the -4. The -1 of course is a square butt, but the -4 was a round butt, and I had no trouble carrying that one concealed.
