  1. I was trying to call Quantico in Clarksville this morning since they are about the only blue label Beretta dealer I know of and I wanted to see if they could price a Vertec for me. Tried two different numbers, one of which is the one I've had in my phone for years, neither was a working number. I checked the website and the Clarksville store is not shown on there. Does anyone know if that store is closed?
  2. ME. TOO. Why I couldn't have been born quirk-less I don't know.
  3. Yeah I never went the tattoo route. Got no grief with those who do. Some of my friends are covered up in them. I honestly think the only reason I never got any was the fact that I'm too cheap to do it. I've always thought the good quality jobs can get very expensive and I could buy a new gun instead.
  4. Same here. I get along just fine with most of them I run into. But, we know what each other is about. Just the way it is. But I forgot to tell you the kicker to all this. During this time of watching all the outlaw bikers come and go (and noticing that the usual gang bangin thugs were conspicuously absent), I look around in time to see, in full traditional robe, a Buddhist monk walk in. I'm thinking well it's all over with cuz he's probably here to whoop us all! I wish I had gotten to talk to him before he left. Very pleasant and peaceful looking gentleman. I had forgotten there was a Buddhist temple in the Nashville area.
  5. That what it was! Sho nuff! Nah, I still haven't 100% vetted this info, but I'm hearing that "gathering" was meant as a show of force due to the other gang trying to make inroads into TN. I knew the others had bought property in TN in the last few years. I always figured there might be a squabble between the two, you know, being as they get along so well. I was told last night the others had had a convention or two somewhere in TN recently, somebody mentioned Cleveland as one of the places. I'm not sure. I still have the old farm boy in me that won't cower to anyone. But at the end of the day I'll be just as pleased if all their festivities remain in the "none of my business" category.
  6. Hardly. I might agree if I was 19 instead of 49, but I'm not that naive. I used to ride as well, and at times we looked pretty rough. But that wasn't what we were about. We might have looked a little rough, but we were a ministry group. I quit "judging a book by its cover" a long time ago. I know the difference between these groups who might look rough and the ones who have earned the 1% patches. I was just trying to pass along a little info that something might be stirring under the surface of the water. I was not indicating that I thought everyone who rides is a thug, that's not the way I think at all.
  7. That could very well make that commercial a lot less sickening
  8. No, but my wife likes to do the mowing (guess who's stuck with the weedeating), and I'd rather do the trim work before she mows. It's usually about a half hour of work for me. If she mows first, it's about 30 hours of weedeating because she doesn't want to get close to the bushes and trees.
  9. Wellllll Snot! I think I just learned what THAT'S all about. Ain't about no rally. I figured this was coming.
  10. Dad Gum dude! That's straight professional work right there.
  11. Seems to be a mutual agreement. That'll work for me.
  12. Just talked to one of them and asked him about Little Sturgis. "Nah, just a little get together" was all he would say.
  13. Working security up here in Nastyville tonight at the Exxon on Dickerson pike. So far I've seen a bunch of biker gangs from Florida, Massachusetts, and Wisconsin, and some other groups coming in, some staying at the hotel across the road. Just wondered if there was some kind of convention going on.
  14. I really almost fell out of my truck. Still wiping tears!
  15. Not a whole lot to tell here. I grew up working on the farm. I complained about it then, but I sorely miss it now. Did some time in a prison called a factory. I have worked sales for the "cold drank" industry. I have worked construction. I have driven a tanker hauling sulfuric acid (yes, it hurts), as well as a little bit of flat bedding. I have been a police officer for the last 22 years, and sometimes I love it, sometimes I just hate it. The thing I enjoyed most was the time I spent on the tac team with another agency. These days I'm also TRYING to learn sheath making and holster making. Hopefully soon I can slow down enough to actually learn what I'm doing with this leather. But in this I have found something that I am very passionate about.
  16. Why, it looks to me like you are gittin to be a purty fair hand at this knife making there son.
  17. Can't knock you at all for going to 10mm. Except for having to feed yet another caliber I've thought about doing that myself. I backed off that offer anyway. I do like the feel of a Sig, but there's too much doubt and confusion with me as to which model I would want. I've also thought about going back to a 1911, but I don't know at this point if that'll ever happen. Just running with the G19 for now.
  18. Got on the phone with my gunsmith and decided on doing a build with quality parts. Posting a WTB ad now for an upper/lower set.
  19. Well a nap sounds real good right about now. Been working way too much lately.
  20. I used to own a Spikes as well. Had no issues, but I'm curious about the particulars as to why you don't care for them. To answer the other question, I really haven't decided on budget yet. Can't get too ridiculous though. I'd probably be happy with putting high quality parts together too. I've heard good things about Aero as a base.
  21. Otay chid-rins, I have the itch to buy/build another AR. Thought I'd get some opinions here first. Trying to decide which brand to go with, that's really what it boils down to. We have built some PSA rifles at home, and I have zero issues with them. But I've had a hankering for one of the other brands such as Colt, Spikes, DD, BCM, etc. What's a good honest high quality value out there nowadays?
  22. Next ones I need to start on. He's going to put the top one online and sell it after I get a sheath made for it. The small one he made for his wife. He wants a friction sheath with a belt clip for that one to become her edc. We still need to put our heads together on a "frontier" style sheath for that one.
  23. He offered it to me at a cheaper price, but that's because we know each other. But the price he offered, in the "not that great " condition, is not that great of a deal after all, and especially not at 600. (I'm saying this after I finally got to look at it in person). The .40 recoil doesn't other me, I'm just not recoil sensitive. My problem is that I love 9mm, 45acp, 38 special, 10mm, and all the magnum cartridges, but I have always absolutely despised 40. Could have something to do with it being foisted upon me 22-odd years ago as a new cop, and being stuck with it ever since. Never have liked the round itself at all, but I realize that is just my opinion. So even at the price point he offered it to me, I just don't think it'd be cost effective for me. And I really shouldn't have been thinking about a different gun purchase right now anyway and getting myself off track. But like I told a friend of mine a few minutes ago, it just seems to be some kind of sickness gun nuts have.
  24. To answer your question, I intended to convert it to 9mm. I should've stated which conversion barrel. He wants $600 for it, I guess because of the CT grips, and he's not willing to keep them. I have decided against it myself. Told him I'd put the word out. I haven't decided yet, but I may just get another G19, or scratch my itch and replace the 1911 I traded off. Unless I find a smoking deal on a newer M11-A1.
  25. Bottom picture is how he brought it to me. Finally got to give it back to him today.
