Why must you torment me so? Only thing worse that I can think of would be tormenting me with Dan Wesson pictures. Now if I can just manage to get all this slobber wiped off of my screen.....

Where do you source your leather? I am out of leather right now, so I need to get some ordered in along with some supplies. I intend to get this thing off the ground this coming year.

I should've specified that both needed to be kydex. I don't fool with making kydex, but I do use kydex stuff. I wish they'd both wanted leather and I would've custom made them for them. That would've given me a lot of joy right there. But they want kydex. Young whippersnappers. I did find some good looking kydex holsters made for each specific gun/light combo from Blue Line Concealment out of Arizona. He said the should ship out next Tuesday or Wednesday. We'll see.

Yep. You do good work. Give me a holler sometime because I really would like to come up and learn from you. In fact, I'm in Clarksville today at Greer Communications getting some equipment installed. Don't know where your shop is though.

Oh, you had to come out with that dang Navidad! I just can't get away from that. But, in the spirit: S schahstleevahvah Rahzhdeestvah and Frohe Weihnachten.

One of these days you need to take on an apprentice -- me.

Murgatroy, I am not good with words, but I hope words can help. First off, and most importantly to me, I'll be praying for you and your family. If it were not for prayer, and for God who just refused to abandon me, I don't believe I would be here. I had a "grandmother" on my mother's side who I believe was completely evil. My "grandfather" on my father's side, well I'm not even sure if he's still alive or not. The first of only two times I met him was the first time Dad had seen him in 25 years. I have no contact with my brother. His choice not mine. I do know that he lives in Idaho now. My Dad was locked away in his own world, a world of deep depression, most of the time I was growing up. Might have been what we call PTSD now. Dunno. Never really had much of a relationship with him for a long time. One day I decided to put an end to that. Didn't have anything to lose so I went for it and decided to forge a relationship with Dad out of the coals of nothing. It took a while, but it worked. I had also decided early on that my boys were NOT going to grow up like I did. They would never have to question whether or not their daddy loved them. There is a history of rejection and abandonment in this family. I chose to not let that generational curse continue. And it sounds like you are doing the same thing. The fact that you grew up in the foster system was not your choice. The fact that your mother chose not to have a relationship with you was not your choice. The fact that your siblings chose a bad life was not your choice. But you have made other, wiser choices. You have chosen to not allow your child to have to live under that curse. I don't know you. But others here apparently do, and I can tell by their words that you must be an upright man. We all have our flaws, but that is the case if we are still breathing air. But you did not become your past. You became your child's future. And for that I applaud you. There is no need to feel guilt for rising up from the quagmire that could have been your life, and just as importantly, your immediate family's life, and making the choice to walk in an upright and honorable way. There are different forms of grief, and I believe you are grieving now. You may soon grieve in a different way, or on a different level, but I don't know. Either way, try not to feel guilty for the way you think you ought to be grieving. Just let it come in it's own time. Your post has brought some things to the forefront for me, and I thank you for that. Reading all the responses here has helped me a great deal, for which I am also thankful. May the God of Heaven bless you and keep you. And if you do not know Him, I REALLY hope you get to know Him soon. For in that you will find an indescribable peace, and you will see a future and a hope.

Need some help with holster selections. I'm wanting to buy my boys a couple of holsters for Christmas. I need to find a light bearing holster for my son's Springfield XDM 4.5, and this one is proving to be the most difficult. He wants somewhat of a mid-ride type holster, but I'm having a whale of a time finding anything, especially from Bladetech. The only way I've found anything from them is to go on their site and overpay. The other will be for my other son's Glock 19 with a Streamlight TLR4. That one probably won't be so difficult. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Keeping members in your thoughts this holiday season

That, and praying for them. I might not know who they are, but that doesn't matter. Sometimes we can get selfishly caught up in our own lives and we forget about others who just might not have it so good right now. Thank you for bringing this up and keeping things in perspective. -
Seriously....What doe you want for Christmas?

Yeah one of those two items looks VERY expensive. I'll let you guess which one. -

Three to four cups of coffee a day linked to longer life

WOOOOOOOIJUSTSTARTEDMYCOFFEEREGIMINETHISMORNINGSOICANLIVELONGERIFEELBETTERALREADYWOOOHOOO! Just kiddin. I probably drink 3-5 cups a day, preferably dark roast. Been doing that for a very long time, no plans to stop. I wonder if there is a similar study with similar results regarding bourbon. -
Thanks for the kind words gentlemen.

I'm starting to think that's where they came from.

I'm confused now. Or maybe I was confused before. Or maybe I'm just not sensitive and understanding. Maybe I should just sit around the campfire with them and sing, not that any of them know how to build a campfire. Or maybe I'm just tired of all this bravo sierra. By the way, I didn't see NUOFCSLP (Non Understanding Old Fashioned Common Sense Loving Prick) on that list. Dang it! Yet another place where I don't fit in! I'm feeling rejected now. I'd like to be elevated to special victim status now thank you. Think I'll go to my alternative safe space now and see if I can find a Clint Eastwood movie on.

Got to thinking - which is usually dangerous. I have a hammer spur extension on my Marlin, and I have a scope on it. I have it facing the right side, and of course they are reversible. But neither side is going to be just right all the time. Does anyone make a double sided hammer spur for the older pre safety models?

Today I am thankful for my family. I'm also thankful for the privilege of being on this site, and for the folks on here being crazy enough to put up with me. And this'll sound kind of goofy, but I'm also thankful for my old lever gun and my 686.

I'm thankful that thankfulness is not foolishness. And that fools are not thankful. And I'm thankful for foolishness because it's the only way I can survive being with my wife without banging my head on a cheese grater. Seriously though, I'm thankful for this bunch of guys on here where we can be wisenheimers to each other and still be on the same twisted page, because I found out long ago that if you can't inject humor into life you'll go nuts.

I'm thankful for getting to grow up around my grandfather. A strong, Godly, kindhearted man. Taught himself to read using the Bible. Worked hard all his life. Didn't depend on anyone, but everyone could depend on him. A fine example of a real man.

Nice lookin Ruger there Bob. God speed to your recovery.

I am thankful that God chose to be merciful to somebody as unworthy as me, and to allow me to become one of His. And for His blessings. I am thankful for my family. My boys have become fine young men. I am thankful to have settled my list of priorities: God; Family; Tribe I am thankful to live in a country that produced men like Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton I am thankful that there are still people who'll do to ride the river with (some here will understand that). I am thankful for good friends, not just friendly aquaintances (there's a difference). Also thankful for knowing the difference. And I'm thankful for the simple things in life - you know, like nice wheel guns!

Hit the stand this morning. Watched a spike come in and hang around a pretty good while. He moved on to the thicket behind me, and I could hear some deer moving around back there. A little while later an 8 and a small 4 came out together from the same thicket behind me. The wind had been in my face the whole time, blowing toward that thicket. I guess my attempt at homemade cedar cover scent worked! I watched that 8 for just a bit, wasn't sure if I wanted to take him or not. But then I thought about last season and how they all went nocturnal right after opening day. So I consulted with the Texan, we came to a consensus, and he sent out a 170 grain .30-30 round by way of greeting. The 8 just dropped without ever taking a step. Not the best or biggest of deer by far, but it's meat on the table. Plus it broke the ice after letting myself get skunked last year. Now I can relax and try to find a nice buck and then some more freezer meat. Site won't let me upload a picture of it though.

Oh for petes sake! The last thing we need to crop up right now is Gomer, Goober, Otis, and Esrnest T Bass showing their guns to each other in church! We all need training and refresher training, and we all need to follow the BASIC rules of firearms safety. The first of which is to not be ham fisting and booger hookin yer shoot'n iron. Crap like this can very well create an environment in various churches where guns are no longer welcome and the congregation goes back to being unprotected.

Yep. I put a Nikon 2-7x32 on my Marlin Texan just recently. I do prefer open sights on a lever gun, but I also prefer to see.
