  1. No, not those who blindly worship at the altar of whatever their chosen brand is and sneers at everyone else. I mean motorcycle enthusiasts. The enthusiasts will know what I mean. I haven't seen a thread on this in quite a while, and I'm making preparations to get back into riding late this year or early next. I have some very important reasons: I love it and I miss it. I have owned bikes off and on throughout my life, from sport bikes to cruisers, as well as trying out other people's machines. Needless to say, that ride on a Hyabusa was, well, NO! My last two were a Yamaha Vstar 1100 and a Yamaha Road Star 1700, so I'll be skipping Yamaha this time. This one will be used as somewhat daily transportation, plus the occasional road trip. I'm looking at buying one of the Harley models since that's one brand I've skipped over all these years and I've wanted one for a good while. I'll be looking at older models of course, since the wife wants a new car first and I'll have to keep this cost down. I was offered a good deal on a nice 2002 Deuce the other day, but I'm not prepared yet. People do trips on every kind of scooter imaginable, so I'm just wanting to hear from folks who still enjoy riding as to what their preferences are in a good all around bike. Something you would enjoy riding on a daily basis, plus be able to hop on it and take a nice road trip.
  2. Savage-Stevens 20 GA single, full choke. I think I was 12 or 13, so that puts it back a ways before written history. Still one of my favorite things to carry in the woods
  3. You have very good taste, Bob. Very good taste. And one of my favorite things about both of those is the fact that I can see that turn ring. Meaning those are guns that are meant to be used and not just looked at. My complements on the photography too.
  4. Think I might have had to charter just one more ride with that same captain!
  5. Well Sarge, now you ain't gonna believe this but, ya see, what happened was.........
  6. To me it's always a very sad thing when someone passes in this way. It goes to show, among other things, that we really don't know what is going on inside of someone, despite what we may see on the outside. I really don't know how many of these scenes I've been called to over the years. I don't even want to know how many. Those scenes haunt. Like others have said here, reach out if you're feeling this way. Reach out to someone who is willing to help, and we are.
  7. Well said. And that is what it takes. Those who are willing to give of themselves to help and possibly pull back from the brink those who feel as if they have nothing of themselves left.
  8. Bersa, I know I'm not any help, but I can't get the old joke about the two old farmers off my mind. Two old farmers were talking about their dogs and what they feed them. One farmer told the other that he feeds his dog turnip greens. The second farmer said that his dog would NEVER eat turnip greens! The first farmer said "Well, mine wouldn't either for the first month." I know there's a lot of good veterinarians out there, and it's a good thing to have access to a dog doctor. But you may wind up just bleeding yourself dry trying to figure out this problem. If it was me (and I know it's not), I would probably pick out a food that's going to give all the nutrition your buddy needs, then pick out a certain time of day to serve it. I might give it about 10 minutes or something like that, and if she won't touch it, put it away. Do it again the next day, and the next. Eventually she'll realize that it she doesn't eat what you give her, she's not going to eat. Now I gave all that advice knowing full well that I'm guilty of spoiling every dog I've had and also sharing my human food with them. So my words of "wisdom" are worth exactly what you paid for them.
  9. It's a very bad scene. I've known Sheriff Jeff Bledsoe for a very long time, and he is a very fine man, and a Godly man. His administration has had to go through this twice now. Please be praying for him, and for the deputy's family. Good hunting brothers. Good hunting.
  10. You see this, Harry? Are you paying attention, Harry?!?! If that tramp from the bar calls the house again........
  11. Thank you for posting this. I did not know that story.
  12. Well done, well done. Thank you for your service as well.
  13. Yep. If it was adorned with rainbow and unicorn glitter stickers.
  14. You have to stop this. Oh the pain you cause! My goal is to call you sometime this year and get started on one for me. Another good job on an heirloom quality piece.
  15. That right there is PERFECT! Should be a dream come true for someone.
  16. Sadly, as we've seen in times past, a lot of so-called Americans will be willing to follow the example and leadership of a whore.
  17. I have always us USPS or FedEx with no issues whatsoever. The first time I wanted to ship a firearm (long gun) I tried calling the ups store in Clarksville. That woman on the phone was an absolute unnecessarily abrasive witch, so ups has gotten absolutely NO business from me since that day.
  18. Good ole stuff right there!
  19. I picked up a Wilson mag mount yesterday evening at the truck stop on 24 at exit 24. These are handy to keep around and I needed one anyway. I'll work on getting the SWRs set this weekend. I'm really working toward mounting my Wilson 2000 to my bed. I'm in the same situation with the bed cover. It's off the truck right now, so I have access to where I need to be. I'm brainstorming on a mount design so I can mount the antenna and put the bed cover back on. I still need to find an actual CB repair shop to find some of the stuff I need.
  20. I'm usually driving to Nashville about every weekend now for my side job. I normally run up 24 from Clarksville. I've been wanting to put a CB in my truck. I know from my truck driving days that it can be a good tool to sometimes get a heads up on traffic problems. A friend of mine gave me a Cobra 29 (a little bigger than I had in mind, but it was free). I have a Wilson 2000 antenna, but I don't have the mount for the antenna, and I need coax. It's been several years since I've fooled with any of this. Where can I get the stuff I need around the Clarksville area, maybe Dickson area, or on the way to Nashville?
  21. My sons runs an XDM9 and it is a flat out wonderful shooter. I think you'll like that one, especially at a good price. Plus it came with a free cat!
  22. No need to feel bad for recognizing that, gentlemen. I was afraid that I was the only one who had a sudden craving for a Crabby Patty. ;)
  23. This is kind of like a morning devotion for me right here. Thank you for this.
  24. Hmmm. I get emails when I subscribe to threads, but I don't think I've ever gotten a newsletter.
