  2. I started with a Lee Challenger Anniversary kit. Later added a Lyman digital scale, and a Lee Reloader single stage press ($28) which I use as a auxiliary press for decapping, bullet sizing, etc.   I'm a low volume reloader of mostly pistol/revolver calibers, yet I've probably run 6-7k rounds thru this setup. I personally don't need anything larger.     I'm unworthy to add to Leroy's excellent post; but there's a couple of other potential hazards I've experienced:   I've had flakes of powder stick to the powder through expanding die, resulting in an undercharge followed by an overcharge. Too small a difference to catch by visual check, but realized from the chronograph that something wasn't right.   I also have an inexpensive Franklin scale that sometimes sticks at a reading when hand trickling; again, resulting in a slight overcharge. Hence, the Lyman.   Most digital scales can be set to weigh grams, as well as grains - difference of g vs. gn on the display of the Franklin. That could have ruined my day, had I not paid attention.   Take your time, pay attention, and double check everything - load data, powder labels, charge volume, charge weight - everything.
  3.   Just ordered a case...with shipping, right at $20 per box. I should be set for a while.
  4. Thread on AR15.com has more info on Timothy Knight.   Short take on John K Brown: head of NFATCA (machine guns for me but not for thee) and alleged ATF snitch.   No relation to Robert K Brown of Soldier of Fortune magazine.
  5. ...for the 2015 election of NRA directors.   Well, Ronnie Barrett definitely gets a vote.   John K Brown should not be considered.   Sean Maloney and Timothy Knight are petition nominees endorsed by Soldier of Fortune.   Don't know a lot about the rest   What say you?
  6. My boss has one. Nice pistol. But I can't tell you how to fahr a Kahr since he hasn't let me shoot it.
  7. I'm a $300 cheapskate lifer. And with the money I've saved, I've maintained a TFA & GOA membership (and a past member of a couple of org's I now regret), and even sent a little to some old guy in Alabama.
  8. IMO Bryant Gumbel is a pimple on the butt of the American media.
  9. From Traction Control, here's an "atta-boy" to Para USA:
  10. Big fan of Bracken's EFAD trilogy  - got the free Kindle versions, liked them enough to spring for dead tree copies. I finished my second reading last night - I tend to rush through the first read and miss details. Castigo Cay was ok, but a bit of a letdown after EFAD.   Another series I didn't see in this thread is J. L. Curtis' The Grey Man series. Vignettes is a little scattered, but introduces some interesting characters through a series of unrelated events. Payback has a much better plot. A third Grey Man is in the works.   Not exactly in the category, but I still have all the Louis L'amour paperbacks to re-read when the lights go out.
  11.   Took a long time for a hound to even make an appearance in this thread.
  12. Been waiting long?     ;)
  13. Please...watch the second video before trying this. OP's title was rather prescient.
  14. I carry IWB most of the time. I do it like this:   1. With strong hand, grip gun pistol and pants.   2. Lower pants to just above knees.   3. Using waistband of underwear, stretch over the pistol grip to secure gun and holster to leg.   4. #2.
  15. I've seen this in surplus Bulgarian, mainly tiny cracks at the case mouth. OK to shoot. Did have one round with the bullet seated at an angle, chucked that one.   For hollow points, Priv Partizan makes it, some boxed as Wolf Gold, but same headstamp. Good stuff if you can find it. Had some of the latter back-ordered at Sportsman's Guide for over a year before I finally received it.
  16.   See your point, but...we opted for the placard so as not to unnecessarily reveal her handicap status to some criminal looking for an easy mark. Of course that could lead to a serious error in the victim selection process. ;)
  17. I'm relatively healthy; my wife is handicapped, She has a placard, and uses it when necessary. If I'm driving, most of the time I drop her at the door and park in a regular space. I've never used it for my convenience, as many others do.
  18. I have an older CVA inline .50 that I've taken 4 deer with. I used a cast Lee REAL bullet, but this year switched to a cast Lee .45 TL 230 gr in a Harvester sabot. over 100 grains of *Pyrodex RS. Dead on at 110 yards, and dropped a doe in her tracks.   * I know there's better stuff, but I have at least a lifetime supply. And as RED333 said, by volume. 100 grains of Pyrodex by weight is equivalent to about **135- 140 grains of black powder; a dangerous load for non-magnums.   ** EDIT My tests show Pyrodex weighing in at about 75% of the same volume of GOEX fff, I've seen 70% published somewhere.
  19. Mountain lion killed in KY       Knew there was a basketball connection in there somewhere...
  20.   You forgot the $0.99 Package Protection charge - came to $59.38, or 23.752 cents per shell. Nice try, though  ;)
  21. Anyone used this?   Estate Cartridge, 12 Gauge 2 3/4", 9-pellet "00" Buckshot, 250 Shells   Thanks to free shipping and a $10 gift card, came to about 24 cents a round. Then I got an e-mail from Midway, their deal about $11 higher.
  22.   I resemble that remark!   Besides, the correct terminology doesn't rhyme with "Jingle Bells" so I claim poetic license.
  23. Tuff Products Quickstrip - makes a 5 round version for snubbies. Also have some other interesting strips, including 10 rounds of .22 rimfire.
  24.   So, what are you waiting for? :)   BTW, just received shipping notice on my Polish Tokarev - should be here Friday!   LCP, you're right about the ammo - 7.62x25 surplus is all but gone, and now higher per round than Priv/Gold Line?! I did manage to snag 3 boxes of Wolf HP a while back, good stuff if you can get it.
  25.   Yes to both - again, just my opinion. The P64's quickly shot up over $200 (pardon the pun) when they achieved C&R status, and haven't come back down. The J&G Romy's you mentioned are at a good price, although shipping from AZ is a bit more.
