  1. e-mail to state house & senate critters...done.
  2. Some people shouldn't bare arms...at least not above the elbow!
  3. Old aluminum "Ted Williams" ice chest, ammo cans, plastic storage boxes from wally, ziploc bags.
  4. I bought one of these, works great for cast muzzleloader bullets, and for sorting factory/milsurp ammo. The 50 gram weight is for calibration. Power on, press & hold "units" then add weight. "Tare" is for resetting scale to zero with the empty powder cup. When all else fails, read the instructions!
  5. One thought - at least a "rolling epitaph" will be seen by people who probably don't visit cemeteries too often. I wouldn't do it myself, but I often read these memorials, and say a prayer for their loss. Another bad idea, IMO - the rear window stickmen of the family, kids, complete with names. Pedophiles on the prowl can then call your kids by name.
  6. I've bought surplus stuff from them, they even threw in some ak accessories as a bonus! Not sure if you can buy direct from them, shipped to your FFL; or if your FFL must make the purchase.

    Dilemma

IMO, I wouldn't recommend drilling, tapping, bolt-cutting on a M38 - too scarce. I'm doing this to a rather nondescript M91/30, 1943, that happens to be a good shooter. Even then, I have another M91/30 for the collection.
  8. +1 on the $5 Wally Winchester! I never carried a lockblade before, just a pocketknife. but for the price, why not? A few days later, my son got a deer, I dove right in with this knife, made short work of skinning that deer. Unbelievably sharp for a new knife! Went back and bought another, for when I lose this one. Inevitable...
  9. I'm in - over at Show & Tell Romanian w/ tactical plastic
  10. Upgrades are kinda "back-burner" for now. The mags I bought function fine, but I hope to acquire some com-bloc mags, and something to fill 'em up with, all I need is time and $$$. I like the Galil, although I wish it had a top rail. I'll probably go with a trad ak sidemount, and some type of red dot/holo sight - again, $$$. Until then, she's resting comfortably (in a super secret secure location.)
  11. I was expecting a rant...I thought you were through hiking the AT! I understand the burnout part. I'm not sure I ever recovered from college burnout. Anyway stay safe, and armed, now!
  12. Just what we need...another shooter, buying up all the ammo. Congrats! Glad you're raising that girl right.
  13. Nice to see some targets that look just like mine! (me on a good day, that is)
  14. FYI - American Rifleman featured the Model 70 in January (pg 50.) Discussed free floating barrel and other issues.
  15. Took it out this AM, put 40 rounds thru w/o a hiccup. All magazines feed and fit ok, but the Tapco is really tight. Shot reasonably close to point of aim. Absolutely destroyed 4 'retired' non-stick skillets - they make fun targets!
  16. Nice family!
  17. Yes, I've joined the EBR club: Romanian WASR 10/63 with compensator, bayonet lug, Tapco collapsible stock, Galil type handguard, Bulldog case and sling, 1 Tapco mag and 3 Thermold mags. Classic Arms had a special on this, I couldn't resist. Anyway I'm out about $450 delivered. How'd I do?
  18. tax stamps?
  19. Or do we? If you follow ATI's return instructions, you just illegally transferred a NFA device. This is major trouble for 13,000 or so formerly legal owners of these things. What firearm/accessory is next?
  20. I carry Hornady 125g XTP in mine. Also have some 110g Critical Defense. Neither is +p. My snubby is a 20-something-year-old steel frame Model 36. I have shot UMC +p with no ill effects. Listed muzzle velocity on the UMC +p is 925fps; the Hornady is 900fps - not much difference.
  21. I have a M24 Finnish Mosin ($60) a M44 ($110), both from private sellers; and 2 M91/30's ($80 Classic Arms and $70 SOG) All bought 2009-2010. The $80 is a little rough outside, but has a shiny new bore. Groups tight. I plan to make this one evil and black. I'll do a thread with pictures when done.
  22. If you are in possession of one of these, congratulations! You are now a federal felon. All thanks to this ex post facto ruling by the batfe.
  23. I was there just over a year ago. I hunted occasionally, did very little shooting. I only had a single shot 22, a snubnose, and a 12g pump - and about 2 dozen rounds combined. Went to wally, they were out of almost everything. panic. So, I haunted every ammo counter for miles around. Found some online ads. Learned about milsurps. Got my HCP and C&R. Joined the NRA, GOA, and started hanging around here. Now a year older - a little wiser - 20+ arms and 10k+ rounds richer - many $$$ poorer. As Charlie would say, "That's how you do it, son."
  24. Still waiting for catalog...but I have nothing but good things to say about Midway. I usually receive Midway orders before other suppliers can process theirs. And shipping charges are very reasonable, too! And dealer pricing with C&R license.
