  1. What to make of this? Shots fired at Islamic Center site
  2. I found out the hard way, the Bobcat does not have a breech plug! (at least mine didn't) Just remove the nipple, scrub well, and rinse repeatedly, preferably with boiling water. CVA Sidelock Manual (.pdf) Money quote: Page 15
  3. New report out today: NSSF
  4. I've put about 30 rounds thru, no bruises! Scope worked loose during the process, my bad, need to re-zero. Waiting for a good day... Where? Built it myself. < $300 total, not counting labor. Rifle is a 1943 M91/30 from Classic Arms $80 - a rough, cruddy specimen, but bright shiny bore. Had a nickel sized group with open sights at 100 yds, making it a good candidate for this project. ATI stock, scope mount, and bolt kit from Sportsman's Guide, $85; also muzzle brake, $14; Pentax GameSeeker Scope 3-9x50 $72 Latest addition - UTG bipod from Centerfire Systems, $30 - haven't used it yet.
  5. Update...received said case of ammo on strippers today...prompt service from Aim. Shipped complete with case in cardboard box. Will remain sealed for now. I stiil have about 1k of Yugo, sans clips. My AK eats it like candy, though.
  6. Oh, shoot...I'm not a lawyer, and don't play one on TV...void where prohibited!
  7. The new law stipulates either the international symbol or the exact language. Therefore you could not be prosecuted just for carrying past this sign. Now, please don't blow it just to win an argument with your gf
  8. Watching SpikeTV now..."Because Lives Depend On It" 241 on DirecTV Surprised to see Gerald McRaney narrating this...
  9. I bought one... The muzzle break is too loose for the M44, IMO - it is only held in place by a small bracket which goes behind the front sight, and secured (?) by 2 small hex screws. I've read reports of these things flying off the end of the barrel after 25-30 rounds fired. Not good. However it is too small for the 91/30, without some work...so after a LOT of sanding: ...I was able to heat the break with a torch, then hammer it on, using a wood block to protect the muzzle break. And, I don't have a picture of the finished product, darn it! But the thing is pleasant to shoot with the ATI stock and muzzle break. Someday, I'll finish this project and take more pics....someday. Also, you must clean all those ports after shooting corrosive ammo.
  10. 3 out of 20 nofires in my 22/45 the other day. Gave me the Rem-GeeBees! Good for malfunction drills. Tap & rack!
  11. FYI, 7.62x39 on stripper clips at Aim Surplus new listing. Yugo surplus 1,120 rounds on SKS clips for $179.20 + 26.66 shipping Just ordered a case - yep, I'm an addict
  12. (see post #15) NO, with C&R you can buy from FFL without background check, just log it into your bound book. However the FFL is not required to accept your C&R license, and a few don't.
  13. Catoosa WMA - Peavine Checking Station and Genesis Checking Station. Open Apr. 1-Jan. 31, except during turkey hunts. Contact Jim Lane (931) 456-2479. (from TWRA) On Genesis Road (298) at Potato Farm Rd. It's a 100 yard range. We shot there for HCP qualifying.
  14. .32 ACP cylinder is about $50-something. I've fired .32 S&W (short) in the original cylinder; cases bulged noticeably; the Nagant is a tapered case. Some have tried .32 long, .32 H&R magnum, and even claim .327 magnum - not me, I value my life! As for carry, only ammo available is FMJ target load - Priv is a 98 grain at 738 fps, sub-minimal for SD - and 7 round cylinder reloads single action style, one round at a time.
  15. FYI - Royal Tiger Imports (IO) has 440 round spam cans of Polish 7.62x54r for $69.95 - best price I've seen in awhile.
  16. Glad I got mine at $79 awhile back... J&G also lists them at $99.95, but backordered. Also, Aim has Priv Partisan Nagant ammo for $21.95 - cheapest i've seen, and probably better than HotShot.
  17. ...for splitting the conservative vote and giving us a 'choice' between a liberal anti-gun democrat and a liberal anti-gun republicrat. Ron, go back to the legislature and try to redeem yourself. Zack, go sell insurance, or something. Pay close attention to the legislature in November. If we can add to the majority in both houses, the gov won' be able to do too much damage.

    Retread Tires

The particular recap that spun my wife & kids out was recovered, and yes, it bore the recapper's mark - so, maybe I'm a little sensitive to the issue. But it's a free country, buy whatever tars you want to.

    Retread Tires

Road Alligators (sections of tread or complete recaps which litter the highways, particularly during summer's high temperatures) I've noticed a rash of 'em this hot summer - most recently from a tour bus just east of Cookeville a couple of weeks ago. At least two other cars were sidelined. You don't want to be following a vehicle with recaps - my wife spun out on I-40 a few years ago. If you decide to save money buying recaps, please don't skimp on insurance.
  20. The Supreme Court is the only court having jurisdiction over a Fed vs. State case. Both Judge Susan Bolton and Atty. Gen. Eric Holder should be removed from office and disbarred for their actions in this case.
  21. IIRC, the batfe application packet is for any type FFL. 01's and 02's require prints; the 03 C&R does not. I stupidly sent 'em my prints anyway, nobody complained.
  22. For $50 less you can buy the gun w/ scope from SOG
  23. Finally fired mine - 18 rounds Silver Bear, both FMJ and HP, flawless - the thing does throw spent cases about 20 to 40 feet. I'm gonna need that spring job. DA is painful.
