If hunting was truly a sport, then there would be a 15 yard penalty for taunting!

...in my case, I opted for silence - after all, it wasn't pointed at me. About the time I turned and saw him, he turned around, put the gun away, and headed toward the "gun room" in the back of the store. I had no desire to chase down and confront an armed idiot. I didn't recognize the guy, and have no idea if he was a customer or employee. I paid and left.

Hope this is the right category - no forum dedicated to stupid, but here goes: I was in Outdoor Junction at Cookeville Saturday. At the checkout counter, a man and young boy, about 3 years old, were ahead of me. The boy was fascinated by a red dot of light on the counter. Every time he reached for it, it moved, or disappeared. The man with him laughed, asking, "What is that?" After a few moments watching the kid, I turned to locate the light source - and saw another young man about 25' feet down the asile... The laser was mounted on his drawn pistol. Pointed at the child, also the cashier. I may do my all my shopping online for a while.

#1 Dan Wesson 15-2V6, safariland shoulder rig - carried it on my walk this morning - goes with me deer hunting. As long as I keep my jacket on, carries fine. #2 Agree w/ Mike on red wheel bearing grease. I tried it last year, had a tube leftover from a front-end rebuild - a lifetime supply of SAG (semi-auto grease!) I need a day off to think, who knows what might come of it?

Absolutely not...things are not always what they seem...welcome to 2010 (and TGO btw.)And if I were home alone, and a scared young girl showed up; I probably would have dialed 911 (or at least a neighbor) immediately. This situation could easily have turned into, "What have you done to my little girl!?!" And here's the Easy Button for checking the TBI SOL... How many live in your neighborhood?

Picked up a sample ballot today . . .
ttocswob replied to enfield's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
For me, it was between Twofeathers and Duck; both at least have a website, and conservative principles - Duck seems to have a stronger 2nd amendment position. -
FYI: To ease your mind on online ordering: Aim has Silver Bear HP $10.95 per box - my last order shipping was $13.94 on $123.10 worth of various calibers. And prompt: ordered on Tuesday, in my hands on Friday.

Bill Haslam at TFA meeting last night
ttocswob replied to 1gewehr's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Nothing like a little HCP snobbery. There are some folks who truly can't afford the HCP. Twenty-something years ago I bought my first handgun, a S&W .38 Special J-frame. The permit would have cost more than the gun did - which I could barely afford with one meager income, a wife, and two kids. So, no permit until last year. And all that time, my little snubby lay forlorn in the bottom of my dresser drawer, and never saw the inside of my car, or pocket, or briefcase. And if you believe that, we need to talk real-estate - got a really nice beachfront, only minutes from wherever you want it to be. So I fully support permitless carry, preferably with an optional HCP for reciprocity's sake. I'd even consider a vote for Haslam next time if he follows through with this. And to those who are opposed: Please don't claim to support the right to keep and bear arms. That would be hypocritical. -
Dun my dooty... Voted for a Republican: (Dr. Scott - Abe Lincoln Jeff Davis needs to go - even his name says two-faced) a Demorat. (Windle - fairly good record, service in Iraq, and only token opposition) an Indie (Duck, it was between him and Twofeathers - I won't vote RINO DINO) and yes on hunting/fishing. Spread the wealth...

OP - the Silver Bear is zinc plated steelcase, not aluminum. I carry either the Polish P64 or Czech CZ-82; many rounds of Silver Bear, and a few Brown Bear thru these, with no problems. One stovepipe in the 1st CZ, before a thorough cleaning. I've seen nothing to justify the extra cost of Hornady in the 9x18 Makarov. IMO IIRC YMMV IANAL
-
FYI - my last Midway order was $97; would have been $114 without the C&R - a $17 savings! Of course, if you plan to save money with a C&R, you're missing the whole point. A couple of Mosins and a CZ will only whet your appetite!

Yeah, it's a feel-good bill, with less teeth than a bluegill... But I voted "Yes," anyway.

Sportsman's Guide has chamber inserts for using 7.62x25 ammo in either a Mosin Nagant 7.62x54r or Enfield .303 - basically makes it a single shot, though. Thinking of getting one for my Mosins. As good a waste of $15 as any.

I'm in....#215...of 268? The math has me a little confused...

$$$ sent... ...and I've heard just about enough from Karl RINO.

DW has been out of the revolver business for some time; parts and service are still available. I bought mine used. It's a good idea to check cylinder clearance occasionally, especially if you're swapping barrels. I only have one barrel and mine's within spec.

I bought a Dan Wesson .357 magnum, 6" barrel last year. It came with a very nice leather Safariland shoulder rig, as well as a nice leather Bianchi belt holster. I do use the shoulder rig for hunting, and it works well for that purpose. Under my jacket/coat the gun stays dry...and warm! I tried this rig once at church, just to see if I could. My sport coat kept it covered. But I really don't recommend it.

Carry under tucked in dress shirt
ttocswob replied to kesava's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Kesava, I normally carry similar to db99wj, except in jeans and either tucked button-up or t-shirt - works for EDC. But at church - I play guitar, and the strap can pull my shirt up enough to expose the gun. So I opt for my snub nose in a belly band - left side about 10:00 o'clock - butt forward; then completely covered by a tucked-in button-up shirt. Gun access requires unbuttoning one shirt button mid-belly for a Napoleon style crossdraw. Not fast - but the most likely Sunday scenario is a church shooter. My planned reaction is to move to the nearest cover/concealment, then unbutton and draw the gun if needed. I've practiced this enough to make a smooth clean draw. -
Remington 514 Remington 597 Savage Mark II Ruger 22/45 Mk II Jennings J-22 That's 4 by my count!

US opposes Seoul’s bid to sell old rifles

Breda wins the prize for this caption, IMO: ..."Oh, great. The bad guys have Dr. Evil and all we have to save us is Pee Wee Herman."

FAIL - Actually that was, ..."full steam ahead"
